Honey tensed when she saw the hand cover her camera lens. She had been so engrossed with texting her mother that she didn’t even see the other woman walk over.

"Oh, I wasn’t taking a picture, ma’am! I was just letting my mom know where I am. I’m sorry."

Oh well, the way the girl had been holding her phone had made it seem like she was using the camera. Recomposing herself from the embarrassing error, Candace nodded, "No, no, I'm sorry then. Didn't mean to be that pushy anyhow. No harm done?"

Okay, my friend and I were speculating about some AU where Alistair’s assistant was actually related to the Hamadas. Like, that’s why Krei agreed to name a showcase hall in memory of Tadashi because their sister works for him. And random stuff like she was away because she needed to keep her family supported. And that the Kreis bought her off to serve as Alistair’s assistant. And it all happened before the brothers lost their parents. That the assistant was taken away from them. And that the two were just too young to remember her. And that Aunt Cass knows her and they talk sometimes at the cafe but never really introduced the sister to her little brothers. And that she was okay with that. And Tadashi survives the fire and is currently being taken care of her in some unknown place. I dunno if it’s interesting enough to make a fanfic out of it. I’ll try working on it though.

He stifled a yawn with a fist. “I’ll try not to fall asleep in there. Wouldn’t want you to have to fish me out.” They had known each other long enough and well enough that unprofessional moments between them weren’t all that uncommon. You couldn’t spend years with someone and not see them beyond their professional facade.

"I should probably have breakfast too." Especially as he couldn’t remember eating dinner. He started unbuttoning his blazer jacket, wandering in the direction of his inbuilt bathroom. "The only place open at this time is Starbucks, hmn. They probably have sandwiches, though. A bag of sandwiches will do."

She smirked, "That would be appreciated, sir."

"A bag," Candace repeated in mocking comment about the CEO's dietary habits, but she still had full intention of getting him what he asked. She turned off, prepared to get everything done, "Are you sure that's everything?"

Alistair sat back in his chair, steep-ling his hands before him as he listened. “Yes, those emails do add up when I’m out of the office. I’ll return the calls to Matthews and Yamada first. Peters can wait a little longer. Maybe learn that patience is a virtue and not be so pushy.” He sat up straighter, picking up a file from his desk. “Actually, you should call Peters and tell her I’ll be out of the office for the next few days. I’m traveling to see some interesting inventions out of town.” He couldn’t help it. Peters didn’t really have anything to offer him, anyway.

"Oh, I'll love that," Candace returned, "This morning I just put her on hold another minute every time she used distasteful language with me, but this'll just be more - damaging, I think."

The secretary sighed for a minute and touched at the papers on her desk, thumbing through things. As Krei remained standing there, she looked up, "Go to your work now, sir."

Candace leaned forward and lightly flicked at the other's chin before drawing her hand back to hang at her side. "Alright, I'm satisfied. Your chin is no longer of concern for me. Just don't use it to stab my boss with it while you're conducting personal business."
