Moses’s face darkened somewhat, her words falling unpleasantly upon his ears.

“Nothing in life is obtained easily. Struggling and strife is always involved. Sometimes entire generations must suffer in order to ensure a better future for the next, but that means that their struggles were meaningful in the end. These demons… They would unwrite all of history if we allowed them.”

“There are many legacies that deserve to be protected… Many of them haven’t even had a chance to begin yet.” He spoke calmly, but something in him was unsettled. “Why would you say that the world does not deserve to continue?”

“Isn’t it obvious? The world chews up and spits out those who would save it by the dozens! How many heroes live very long after their quest is complete? All those who are truly good in this world are tirelessly crushed by it.” She spread her arms, motioning to the surroundings, “If one man tirelessly hunted and killed every single good person he could find, then he would be rightfully executed. It is merely an extension of the same principle.”

She paused, breathless for a moment, before continuing, “But I will agree that the legacies of the heroes should not be forgotten. That is why I fight, to ensure my husband and those like him are remembered. History is worth preserving, but the future is built on the backs of broken heroes.”

However I will apologize for antagonizing you, as my fellow servant you do not deserve such a thing.“ Mordred smiled as his blackness returned to its home and he stood there now without a weapon. He’d learned much from this, Ether. Ether was something he hadn’t expected and would take some time to replicate. 

Glavestone however saw these thoughts, and couldn’t deny them. If they could get any advantage they would need it. Including against their friends, for Glavestone would not be able to simply hand over the grail. Still the peace now was necessary, and enjoyed. Walking up close to him he patted Raymond’s back. 

“Well done friend, you handle stress well. Mordred! You are not to wield Balmung again until you can project it properly. To do that you’d need her help, as we both know. Now, lets avoid this from happening again. Strike her at all and I’ll be forced to use a command seal on you.“ Leaning closer to Raymond he whispered, 

“Though in the future, if need be she could destroy her Balmung and he would be inable to use it again. She could reform it in time.“ Then he approached Mordred.

“It was terribly rude of you to interrupt us. Now be on watch, with two servants here it is likely that we will not be able to mask such a presence.“

“Yes, my master.“

Leaping onto the roof he dematerialized and remained quiet, as Glavestone returned to Raymond. This night would go to show just how rocky the road ahead very well could be.

Raymond pursed his lips as he thought about how to keep the two Servants from coming to blows, “Milady, could I ask you to guard the room Glavestone and I were speaking in. We will return shortly as we had not finished our talks on how to maximize the advantage this alliance could yield in the War.”

The female Avenger watched the other’s exit warily before responding to her Master, “Very well, Master. Do not tarry for too long,” before also dematerializing to shadow the Masters until they reached the chamber, there she would fall into a position near the door and keep an eye out for dangers stirred by the near-miss confrontation.

Raymond sighed as the Servants both seemed to be following orders, at least for the moment. “That could have been worse, at least we managed to keep them from fighting and violating our compact before we even accomplish anything in this War.” He shook his head, somewhat disbelieving in how seemingly easily they had defused the situation, “I hope you have a lot more of that whiskey. If this is a milestone of how those two are going to treat each other, I daresay we’ll both need it.”

Hands that seemed almost shamefully rough and calloused when caressing her skin, soft as the finest satin.

The knight touches her gently, thumbs and then lips passing over perked nipples, down her body, drawing every sweet sound from her lips, every movement of her soft form, leaving kisses and sometimes pink marks on the milky skin in his wake. “Need you t’stay...” the drunken woman mutters, blindly reaching out to try to grab the other’s wrist and pull her into the bed. “Du bist warm.” She blinks a couple of times, slowly as if determining something, likely which of the 5 Harukas was the real one, before making one final lunge to try to grab the other.

He could only look at Kriemhild with a pained expression as she finished her first sentence, the corrotion of the Avenger’s Class hatred did make her say something he didn’t think she would say… Or was it that he didn’t truly know her as well he thought he did?

  “Even if I am not there, even if I die before you and our son, do not resent the world, Kriemhild. It was just fate running it’s course. This is a beautiful place, this world, it allowed me to meet you. It allowed us to have a long and happy marriage and moments with each other…”

He was relieved his son was sent with his parents for once, at least he didn’t die on that time by that snake’s hands as he remembered the massacre that ensued once the Bungurdians reached Attli’s castle. All the things she went through, all the pain and suffering she also went through, even the curse of the dragon’s treasure befalling on her. Was his death truly for the best, as Hagen told him while his spear pierced his chest, slowly and painful…? 

It wasn’t, it was unforgivable, shameful, enraging. But there was nothing he could do now. All that he could do now was to grab what he has in front of him and protect it once again.

 “I won’t die again, not by betrayal this time. I have a reason to not die and it is on my arms right now.”

She leans forward, deeper into her husband’s embrace, committing the feeling to memory before replying, “If it is by fate’s whims that I am deprived of you, then I shall rend it apart, if the machinations of a god take you from me, I will topple his throne, and should the very world conspire your death, I would gladly feed it to the flames. I can not, will not, allow a world without you.”

A tear slides down her cheek as she speaks, her arms reaching out and clutching him desperately. She sobs, voice cracking slightly, “I had to live without you once already, Siegfried, and it broke me. Made me into this,” she motions weakly towards herself, “into an Avenger. I can feel the hatred all the time, I fear I am not the woman you married all those years ago with every breath. She was innocent and kind and oh so naive. But she was weak. She couldn’t have avenged you.”

She looks up at him, eyes cloudy as she searches his gaze, “You can’t die. Ever. By betrayal, or by any other means. I have broken once, and destroyed a kingdom. If I should break again, I fear for the world.”

“That may be so, but the past isn’t meant to be undone. It’s meant to be remembered and learned from. Even if we want to change things… it’s better to look forward and focus on changing now, so the future will be better.”

“At least… That’s what I’d like to think. You shouldn’t forget about the things you’ve done, whatever they may be, but you shouldn’t let them keep you from a brighter future either.”

“A brighter future you say. As if such a thing is so easily attained. Life is cruel and brutal, friends and family turn on each other over the most petty of reasons. Honestly, were it not threatening the history of man and therefore my husband’s legend, I’d applaud these Demon Pillar’s efforts.” She shakes her head, a cynical and bitter scowl on her face.

“After all,” she murmurs, “it isn’t like this world particularly deserves to continue.”

There were many Servants in Chaldea. Sometimes, it felt as though there were more than Moses would be able to meet in his time here- especially when more and more were summoned each day. Of course, that also meant that sometimes, he wasn’t sure how long the Servants he was only now just meeting had been here.

This woman was not one he had seen before, but she did not seem to be new. Regardless, he smiled at her as he approached, the spot near her one of the only available spaces at the moment.

“Hello… Is this spot taken?”

The finely dressed woman gave the other Servant a quick glance before pushing the chair beside her out with a foot, “It isn’t, feel free to take a seat.” She gave him a small smile, “Are you one of the new summons? I don’t believe I’ve seen you around...?”

“But where are my manners,” she interrupts herself, an apologetic grin crossing her features, “Servant Avenger, Kriemhild. Pleased to make your acquaintance.”

"... You would have made a fine Hunter. The Hunt would have resonated from you like a fire casting its warmth upon its surroundings."

Kriemhild gave the woman an appraising gaze, eyes taking in her weapon and garb, “Perhaps… But I had my own hunt to attend to. Traitors and their accomplices cannot be allowed to fester like maggots in a wound after all.” She gives the Hunter a smile, “I do thank you for the compliment though.”

“But tell me more of your Hunt, ‘twould seem to have sculpted you into a mighty warrior. It must have been an arduous undertaking.”

She wondered what type of life this stranger led. It sounded, difficult. Best not to pry further than what they were willing to state. “I suppose there is always good and bad- I am happy you at least gained some happiness and positive changes.” Anything…she refused to accept? She paused for a moment. Even lives. “I refuse to accept that Heroic Spirits are only weapons to be used by mage’s…they’re, friends, allies who lend us power in return for us hosting their existence upon this world.” Something Misaya found odd as an opinion. “It may be a contract…but, the Association mistreats them-” As for anything she would change. “I believe everything in my life was meant to occur, if I had been given the choice a few years ago- it would be to never enter the Heaven’s Feel. But now…I would have missed out on so much, if I had not been forced to enter. Some other lives I wish I could change but- it’s not my place or right.”

The Avenger smiled, “So it would seem that you wish to effect change, but lack the power to do so, meanwhile I have only one desire at the moment, but have quite a bit of power. What would you say to making an alliance?”

She spread her arms, Ring suddenly flaring with light and Balmung materializing on her back, “I am Servant Avenger, and I would ask of you, will you be my Master? I seem to be short of one as of a few hours ago. As you said, I am no tool to be used and discarded.” Her Self-Replenishment Skill was providing just enough to keep her in the World, but she was pushing its limits with every breath she took, she was no Archer with Independent Action, and without a Master, she would soon fade, having accomplished naught but the death of yet another traitor. While she could be somewhat satisfied with that, she had a Wish to achieve, and this magus sounded more trustworthy than the old fool who thought her will could be trampled upon so easily thanks to his command seals.

Emily cleared her throat awkwardly, attempting to regain her bearings after that slight mishap. ❝I-I..am Caster.❞

Kriemhild regards the other Servant for a moment, then gives her a small nod, “Avenger. It is a pleasure.” She smiles as she speaks, though it is a brittle, cruel smile. She stretches out a hand, the Ring upon it glimmering slightly. As she prepared to unleash a flood of gold should the other Heroic Spirit attempt to initiate hostilities, she called out, “So, how shall we proceed, Caster? Should I cut you to ribbons? Drown you? I’ll be generous and allow you to choose your doom.”

One hand reaches behind her, drawing the massive greatsword on her back, planting it into the ground before her. She lay her hands atop it, Ring still aglow with prana as she waited for her foe’s response.
