people might think creating OC lore involves a lot of thinking & planning, but in my personal experience, OC development is more like a divine vision from a god slamming you over the head with a mallet while ur doing the fuckin dishes or folding laundry

Okay now that I had time to mull over the Chainsaw Man ending.
I honestly don't know what would have made for a better ending. Not in the "ending was phenomenal" but in the "yeah, that's a tough thing to finish" way.
Like Denji never really improved, he somehow failed his way upward in a sense. He kept falling for the same promises over andnover and over. Same with Makima, same with Reze, same with Yoru. (And the cult too)
If nothing changed he would have been just been fucking around and let the apocalipse go on.
Pochita was the friend who slapped Denji on the face and told him that what you want is not always what you need.
And yeah, in the end he got what he really needed. Nayuta and Powere are both back so he finally has a chance for a sense of familial bonds. Asha is also there, so if he wanted to pursue her he could have.
I don't think the ending is bad, sure it could have been longer, but if things don't happen by chance as they did then I think Denji wouldn't have taken the initiative to really change things, or to look for Power.
I'm not going to psych analise thing cause that would be a lot, but this is my brief opinion on the ending of the manga
