, Ben "Macklemore" Haggerty was spotted Tuesday at the 20th year anniversary of King County, Washington drug court.The rapper, of "Thrift Shop" and "Same Love" fame,  came into the courtroom celebration, took a seat in the front row, and listened to other drug court graduates and officers share their personal history with the program as well as the official history of the drug court program in King County.

Toward the end of the speeches, Macklemore stood, took his place behind a lectern and said: "Hi, I'm Ben. I'm an alcoholic." He went on to give a speech highlighting his days in drug court, closing with a powerful line: "drug court gives people a way to get sober, to heal. I don't just want to get through the day. I want to live. That's what drug court is to me." 

This is an amazing story. Many people who have gone through the drug court program in their youth come from situations that make them feel like they could never be a super successful person who is known for making a difference in the world. But now, Macklemore, a rapper who has shined a light on same-sex relationships and the struggles/beauty that comes with having to be a thrift shop shopper, shows that you most definitely can. Your past does not and should not dictate your future. It's never too late to take the most sordid past and turn it into a beautiful future. Besides, everything you've been through only makes you stronger for anything else that could come at you.

She Dances, She Sings, She Makes RPatt's Heart Ring

Curious about Robert Pattison's new girlfriend? So were we, so we did some research.

Her name is Tahliah Debrett Barnett and gets that awesome ethnically ambiguous look from the mix of her Jamaican father and English/Spanish mother. The 26 year old United Kingdom native started making music just 10 years ago in youth clubs. Despite her amazing voice and obvious knack for making great music, she originally moved to England to pursue a career as a dancer. She was mildly successful as a dancer, dancing backup for Ed Sheeran, Jessie J, and Kylie Minogue. 

On December 4, 2012 everything changed for the young dancer turned singer. She released her first EP, rightfully titled EP1 and made a music video for each song on the album.
