Been very restless lately and struggling with decision paralysis on what crochet project to work on next. What have y'all been making lately?

Finally got more bells so I could finish this little Halloween-y guy 🖤🤍🧡💜
This is very personal so please scroll on by if you just wanna keep seeing cool crochet stuff
Y,know, if you don't like paying for crochet patterns, that's totally fine. I'm poor. I get it. Sometimes you don't even have $5 left over at the end of a pay cycle to justify buying something you still have to put in the work to make yourself. Especially when there's a plethora of free patterns out there (people who post free patterns are literal angels and it makes me immeasurably mad that their kindness and generosity is taken advantage of when their patterns are stolen and sold for profit on Etsy.)
But also, it's not fair to attack people for selling their hard work and original designs. I chose to start selling patterns because it is becoming increasingly difficult and painful for me to sell made to order finished products. It's just not sustainable for me anymore and I risk damaging my joints further every day just to continue making my art. I am on disability benefits that do not currently cover my living expenses in this cost of living crisis, so I refuse to be made to feel guilty about using the skills I have available to me to survive. This isn't pity farming, this is my reality. I genuinely worry every single day how I am going to afford my increasingly expensive medical needs when I am bed bound 90% of the time and the price of everything only continues to rise (and the Australian government is currently cutting billions in disability support). Each pattern I make has a MINIMUM 12 hours of work put into them. It's not passive income, it's a product of hours of work and there's always a chance a pattern I release will never sell enough to make back the full cost of the labour I put in (which is the majority of my patterns tbh because I am very small). But every single purchase of one of my patterns goes towards being able to pay my rent, my medical expenses, keeping me fed and the lights on.
So to everyone who has ever bought one of my patterns, or even just shared my work, you are genuinely the reason I can afford to live and I am forever grateful for that <3
Jingles the Jester amigurumi pattern is finally up! You can purchase it on Etsy or (cheaper) on Ravelry and Ko-fi!
These little guys make me so happy 😊 Pattern coming soon!
Look how JINGLY 😍
I've been feeling very bleh about crochet lately (starting to get my crojo back now finally), but I've still been crafting when I have the energy. Here's the last few months of chainmail jewellery I've made!
Someone called me a ghoul for selling my digital crochet patterns that take hours (and sometimes days) to create and use my 9 years of accumulated crochet skills so now I'm just gonna sell them EVEN HARDER 😈 You can purchase my patterns on Etsy or (cheaper) on Ravelry and Ko-fi! Jester pattern will be up eventually on all three, just waiting for my current pain flare to pass so I can finish it up 😅
Ngl, the rise of GenAI scammers flooding Etsy and Insta is really starting to wear me down. I'm disabled, I make MAYBE 2-3 patterns a year because it's all I have the energy for. How is my stuff supposed to even be seen amongst the flood of SLOP. Etsy won't do anything to get it under control. Can't drive traffic to my shop through social media cause Insta values quantity over quality and the one post I'm able to make a month instantly gets lost to the algorithm.
It's really disheartening and making me feel very bleh about crochet and the future of my little shop.
I am done writing up the jester pattern, I just need to take pictures which is my least favourite part of the process so I have been putting it off but I will get to it as soon as my brain cooperates with me 🙃
I'm working in the pattern for the little jester friend, but was too busy last week to work on it, so hopefully I'll have time to get to it this week!
A little jester to add some ✨whimsy✨ to your dash.
A small Valentine's Day drop on the store 💕
I love the idea of going through life holding whimsy in one hand and rage in the other, but lately I've been feeling a lot more rage than whimsy. It's so hard to be whimsical when you're watching the Gestapo 2.0 executing people in the streets an ocean away, and your own family supporting the same regimes our forebears fought to keep us free from. I will get back to balancing the whimsy with the outrage and start posting cute crafts again soon, but for now, I just can't.
Happy Holidays, friends! ❤️💚
Some more chainmail jewellery I've made ✨
Hey so I started making chainmail jewellery :)
