I am having to put my youtube channel on a hard stop because I need to make sure I don't further fuck up my shoulder. I am absolutely at the age where I'm fucking lucky I didn't fuck my rotator cuff, and I would like to keep that streak going.
it's frustrating though, because I do love sharing my projects there, and the pace I had (3 videos a month) really did feel sustainable. Clearly, it is not.
But also, I'm damned glad I have always kept it a hobby channel. I don't have to figure out how to keep making videos while I unfuck my body because my earnings aren't tied up in it at all. I can still do all my ko-fi stuff too, without making things worse, since that's just scanning stuff and posting it.
I have such sympathy for any fiber artist who makes any part of their living by making on social media. It is a constant effort that requires so much from the body. I've got a day job I truly enjoy and that pays me well. I don't have to juggle pain vs getting paid.
But still. Bummed. Because it's fun! I like it! I did come up with a possible long-form video idea, though, that would just require me to stitch however much I can for several months, and it's exactly the sort of project that will let me use the new camera I literally just bought (sigh) while not requiring me to meet a series of deadlines any time soon.
