They break in their own ways, sometimes when it is least expected. Sometimes it is not by your will, but the will of the circumstances around you. Nonetheless, nothing is as fixed as they may seem.
[The Wyrdeer, despite their expression, seemed to have all the patience in the world. What was occurring now was nothing more than a breath of time to them, a moment that would arrive and pass in the blink of their eye.]
Where I am from is of no concern for anyone. Perhaps we will meet again, perhaps not. What is significant is what is taken from the moment, the present.
( @kuixotic-rps )
Atlas was rather smart, at least he thought so. He would pride himself on his observation skills while tending to his ranger duties, but in an almost comical fashion he didn't seem to clock the implications of the accessories that Kirina had.
"Oh hey! Ho-oh feathers! They're really nice, you got quite a few of them."
He points to his own necklace with a wide grin, a bundle of softer, silvery down feathers from a Lugia.
"Lil bit of a similarity there don't you think? What do you got going on here, just relaxing?"
"Most people tend to admire my sister's fe--collection of feathers over the ones I have here," Kirina had to remember to be very careful with how she spoke around humans. But this one...
She could tell that despite the lava bubbling under the surface of his vibrant personality was a truly golden heart. One that cared greatly for Pokemon.
Carefully, Kirina plucked one of her feathers from her head and held it out;
"I-I hope you like it. It... it should go well with your Lugia ones. Also, would you like one of these, um... 'Otter Pops'? I ended up with a lot..."
Like it? I LOVE it! It's so cool! My cousin has a feather themself, it's so interesting seeing how different the feathers could be!
[His eyes widened as he gingerly took the feather, tilting it back and forth in the light. A combination of not noticing the details and holding it in the sun kept Atlas from realizing it had a golden shine just by being in Kirina's vicinity.]
I gotta keep this safe until I get home, so I can properly fix it to my necklace here. I'd hate for this to get lost.
[Atlas kept a secure but gentle grip on the feather, looking to the box that Kirina pointed out and immediately changing focus.]
Yo! I haven't had one of those in a long time! I'd be happy to have one, are there any orange ones?
*Cepheus walks along the sand in his usual, chill way but stops when he notices Aaliyah. It's odd. He senses a familiar energy coming off of her. Thinking back, he tries to remember where it comes from. And then it hits him. His eyes widen. It was that human that he spoke to during that Magi thing. Was this his offspring? Crazy how time flies! Or has time travel been used? Who knows. He knew he had to see her.*
Cepheus: Yo yo. Sorry for approaching you like this. You don't know me but I think I've met your dad before. On a beach on the night of the Magi? He had these sick tattoos on his arms and had such a chill vibe. I never got his name but you give off his vibes. If you come from the land of the Magi, have you ever met those radical beings before?
[Cepheus received his answer in the form of her small smile-she had the same gaze as her father did, spitting image of him and proud of the fact too.]
That sounds like him, he hasn't changed much from that description if you ask me. He goes by Gabriel, if that helps you.
[Aaliyah sits up in the sand to better speak to the being before her, nodding to his questions.]
We've seen the Magi pretty frequently yeah, I think I've seen them every year for as long as I can remember. My dad says back in the day the parties were a bit more humble, now it's this whole grand festival that's island wide.
[She beams a little brighter, lighting up like the sun as she does so.]
I'll be sure to pass the word along that a familiar face was seen, I'm sure he'd be happy to hear.
That smile was the same as her dad's. Wow. The similarities between the two were becoming more and more noticeable. Humans always fascinated Cepheus, especially with their genetics. Pokémon always looked near enough equal to their parents. Perhaps some small changes here and there if there was some hybridisation going on. However, humans had a lot of variation as to what characteristics they would inherit. A being that could look so similar and yet so different to the ones that made them. Cepheus was glad the one universe he had made where humans were the dominant species had humans be similar to what other humans were like. And he didn't even need to create the variety in inherited genetics as a condition - it just naturally came to be like that.
Cepheus smiled.
Cepheus: The Magi are excellent folks. I was able to meet them during my visit. They gave me the most bodacious gift. A whole festival, huh? That sounds rad. Are you a fan of the festivals? Do many folks tend to come to them?
A moment of realisation came to Cepheus. If this human were to describe him to Gabriel, he'd have no idea who he was. The pains of having multiple forms. Though this was probably better than being in his usual form. He should make things a little clearer.
Cepheus: Oh yeah, tell him that it was a goomy who you met. A goomy with shades. Yeah. I know it sounds weird but he'll know what you mean.
I think they're really nice, yeah. Hearing what my dad and my uncle used to have, I do have this kind of... yearning, I guess is the best word. Something about simpler times, when things were more wild.
What we have now isn't bad, not at all. It's an island-wide festival and everyone gets to participate in a grand way of their own. There's battles which my cousin Ariel participates in, flight races, everyone greets you with a plate of fresh food no matter where you go, island-wide parades, it's a great time.
Takes a lot out of us sometimes because we have guests from all spans of distance and time coming over, it's a lot of ground to cover whether on duty or not.
[She's aware of what she said, a hint of mischief despite how she's led herself on to be.]
The island has this... phenomenon to it. Where Alola has Ultra Beasts and the most Fallers-people from different places coming into the world and all that, we have time phenomenons. We're all taught how to handle the potential of different times crossing and meeting those from the past and future.
My dad won't bat an eye about a Goomy who can turn into a person, or anything else. But I'll definitely pass the word on.
While Atlas was off along the shore, Mateo sat by the water's edge quietly. He spotted Ruby nearby, passing a glance a few times before waving with a smile the moment they both exchanged a glance.
From where he was, it made no sense to yell a greeting-he wasn't the yelling kind anyway. Instead he mouthed a "hey there" with a sheepish smile as he toyed with his necklace in the other hand.
ACKKKK!!! H-h-h-humans...?
She thinks that she gets intimidated by them. Regardless, she is trying to stay cool and smile, however, shaking... She slowly waves back.
H-h-h-hello.... H-h-how's it going? I-I-I hope y-y-you all having a g-g-g-great time...
N-n-name's Ruby... What about y-
Atlas: Thanks! Yours is great too!
[Atlas lets Mateo take the lead-knowing he was softer spoken out of the two of them. This of course took the form of stepping to the side and lightly pushing him forward.]
Atlas: C'mon dude, your turn!
[Mateo shot him a look that was a mix of a glare and a pout-not so much mad but not exactly appreciating being rushed.]
Mateo: ...anyway... I'm Mateo, this is Atlas. I'm much... quieter to say the least, but I think we can get along.
[He smirks lightly as Atlas is preoccupied with looking around the beach, watching the waves and other beachgoers.]
Mateo: He's a little on the loud side, but means well. A bit of an Exploud sometimes. I understand being nervous, a lot. My dad's thought about finding a therapy 'mon for me to help with that.
(askgrampaquaza) The old Rayquaza slithers to Ariel, giving her a kind smile. He dips his head to her slightly to give her a bow in greeting. "Pardon me, young one, but I couldn't help but feel drawn to you. You seem to have an affinity to dragons, yes? You definitely remind me of the human that my son has told me about on occasion!"
He chuckles before clearing this throat. "Still, I hope you don't mind if I provide you some company. My little one has gone off to play, so I could use the company myself."
[The girl's eyes shine at the sight of the Rayquaza, a wide grin as she takes in the sight of the dragon.]
Sure am! All thanks to my dad! It's been a little while since I've seen a Rayquaza!
[She takes a further look at Grampa, all the while elated.]
You know, you look exactly like someone our Rayquaza talked about. The name Quetzal ring any bells? He's got a mark like this on his head! He said you were very nice in the times he met you, looks up to you and all that.
[She then holds up her necklace, flipping the family crest to be in the same orientation it could be found in on Quetzal's head.]
Grampa leans in closer to look at the necklace, opening one eye slightly to get a better look. "Oh yes! I remember him. Quite a nice young man." He nods and gives Ariel a smile.
"I do hope he's doing well. He reminds me a lot of my own boy, actually." The old dragon huffs out a reminiscing sigh.
"You said that it's been a while since you've seen another of my kind, right? Was it perhaps Quetzal?"
Yeah Quetzal! He's busy doing all those cool world duties Rayquaza have. We don't see him as much as my dad used to when he was younger.
Probably looks different too from what you remember! He's got all this cool... feathers, mane... extra to him now, my dad showed me a picture of him before where he was just all spikes.
[She eyes the large dragon curiously-as far as anyone knew, Quetzal didn't have any offspring of his own. At least not yet. The idea of legends having enough of a timespan to be around their young was interesting all on its own.]
Mateo recognized the type of pokemon Wo was-he did spend time in Paldea after all. It was a little jarring considering his initial brush with the species, but seeing Wo relaxed and in good company made him extremely curious.
He steels his emotions and approaches with an inquisitive look, a soft smile on his face as he does his best to speak up.
"You're from Paldea, yes? Do you tend to stay in the wild or go into the cities, like Mezagosa? Is there anything that you'd have to tend to in those cities?"
Wo: "I do reside there, with my family in my old shrine. I tend to wander here and there, with every one requiring me to go through Mesagoza first. It is the only way to get to the routes towards Cortondo and Artazon, and the paths that lead from there onwards."
He tapped a vine to where his chin would be.
Wo: "As for what I do when I am in Mesagoza, I do have a role within the city's team of assistance Pokemon. I tend to get called upon to rescue cats from trees, but I often get to help out in the academy. The teachers who work there do appreciate my assistance~ Helping out in the academy has also led to me spending quite a lot of time in the library, which has become my favorite place in the region."
[Despite his shyness there was a shine to his eyes as he listened.]
I studied at the academy for a bit of time, when I was of age to officially be a trainer. It was before our home island established its own academy within the same system as Mesagoza's.
I admit, the library is pretty massive. One of my family members has helped raise a few of the Noibat that fetch books from higher shelves, so we still have quite a good relationship with Paldea in a sense.
Wo: "It does make me curious when I hear about educational buildings similar to Mesagoza academy in other regions. When I do get to go to other regions, I shall see if I can see them. I won't go into them if they object to my request, but finding out about them would be enough for me."
He nodded as he listened to what was said about the academy's library.
Wo: "Your family members have done good with raising helpful Pokemon~ I do like to see other assistance Pokemon alongside oneself, whether they be within the academy walls, or in downtown Mesagoza~ My relationship with the human population didn't start out good to begin with, but I managed to build up trust between oneself and them over time, and I find myself being asked to help out throughout the day if my presence is needed."
If you ever wanted to come to our island, I'm sure the Carambola Academy would be happy to show you around! There's four different campuses to accommodate different students and what they want to learn.
[Mateo's eyes glittered as he listened on, nodding attentively. From how he presented himself it seemed like he had practice in conversations and networking like this.]
The homes on our island have plenty of pokemon to aid in utilities, as long as the pokemon wishes to do so. We work with a lot of different species back home and have quite a strong bond with the wild populations, if I'm to say so myself. It's nice to see cooperation between different groups, no matter what pokemon it is or the reputation they may have. Everyone deserves a chance.

( @ask-neontiger ) Journey@Ariel: "Lots of kiddies with ya to watch." The Furret says with a swish of her tail and an easy confidence at speaking human language, "Eldest kid vibes, huh? I get that, got a couple younger brothers of my own. Any fun plans while you're here or mostly just keeping the fam out of trouble?"
Eh it's not too much trouble at least, we're all pretty close in age so it doesn't feel too much like babysitting.
[Granted there was one exception to that grouping, Ariel shaking her head a bit at the thought of her youngest sibling's scuba shenanigans. At this point she was sitting on the shore after taking a quick swim, looking between the rest of her family members.]
Got all my siblings here, and a few of my cousins. We're all taking care of ourselves for the most part at least, so it makes life easier now than when we were all younger.
[She flashes a toothy grin to Journey, a spark of mischief.]
Make no mistake though, just because I'm one of the oldest in our group doesn't mean I'm not a troublemaker. I'm one of the worst ones actually~

(@fromwiddershiness) Bayani went full stop, and made a funny noise in his disbelief when the group fell into his sights. No way, he didn’t tell anyone about this little outing.
“WERE YOU STALKING ME THIS WHOLE TIME??? THIS IS MY BEACH AND MY TRIP GO AWAY, GO FIND YOUR OWN BEAAAAACH!”
He shooed them all away with his hands, annoyed.
[Bayani was incredibly lucky that his eldest sibling didn't catch him, however the next in line turned in confusion to the sound of their voice.]
[The Rainbow Wing in their hair acted like a beacon in Bay's eyes, Leanna squinting before doing a double take. At least she was calmer than Ariel would be. All the while the other two cousins that flanked her shared a mixture of expressions, Yamilet more in the range of surprise while Aaliyah had an expression the likes of her father in similar situations.]
Lea: Bayani? What are you doing here? Does dad know you're here?
[The youngest in the group looked between Aaliyah and Leanna, concern etched across her face.]
Yamilet: How... did he get here by himself? If we all came on our own... is that his scuba gear? He can't do that by himself yet right?
“Don’t tell dad, I know what I’m doing! I don’t want to wait for mom, it’s just one tiiiiimmeee! I’ve done this a million tiiiimesss!”
At least to him, it felt like a million times. Sure he’d gone diving very often as of late, but he was still inexperienced and no kid should be diving alone. He tried providing some form of reassurance from the group.
“I have Nawa, I’m not alone.” Bayani gestured to the gator, and she raised her claws up and enthusiastically warbled, jumping up and down.
You are exactly the kind of person the rangers wouldn't trust to even swim in a puddle unattended.
[Aaliyah spoke flatly, looking to the youngest of the group. If there was anyone who wouldn't waver on a choice it would most definitely be her.]
You're going to mess up your equipment, you're going to drown, and you will end up dead for stupid reasons-Lugia's blessing be damned. So you best listen before Ariel gets out and tears you a new one.
[Yamilet was closer in age range, hoping to get through to Bayani as she nodded along to her eldest cousin's words.]
I don't think it's a good idea, Bay. If you mess up now, you won't be allowed to dive for a long time. Better to wait until you can dive with someone.
This wasn't said in a mean fashion, Aaliyah merely curious about Luano the moment she spotted him. For all she could tell, they had a similar air between the two of them-laid back but watchful all the same, no-nonsense but not exactly strict. A little bit of a rarity from what she's encountered.
"Judging by the shell decorations, I imagine you're around the water a lot?"
His gray eyes carefully measured her.
His expression was calm, smooth even, sensing a similar kinship to her. “Unfortunately for me, I was told to tag along after work,” he said, clasping his hands behind his back. “I couldn't exactly say no,” he laughed sheepishly.
A bead of sweat formed at the base of his neck. One was intimidating enough. Two is asking for trouble and not to mention… He only knew one parent scarier than those two and he hadn't seen him in years. And I hope not to. His expression slipped to dread for the briefest of moments before he collected himself with a smile.
“You know how it is. Sometimes you don't have a say. Someone has to look out for the knucklehead.” He hiked his thumb, gesturing towards Caspian undoubtedly flexing his arms. “But I know I'll be paid back for this.” If he knew any better, he expected a variety of items for the hassle today. He wouldn't accept it, of course. Whether they would accept that was another issue to face when he finished here.
Then he laughed. “I work in a bar with nothing but seashells and coral decorating the place, gal. It's hard to dodge when you live in Alola, it's practically everywhere.” There was a twinkle in his eyes, a hint of affection in his voice. “I'll say this beach is nice but it got nothing on Alola honestly. But it's something… different. Maybe I'll take a shell or two for the boss. She'll place it somewhere nice and show it off.
“Remember to take a souvenir for yourself too. A little memory to remember the good times, eh?”
[She laughs warmly, clearly at ease with their similar energies. Her gaze drifted not to the youngest nearby but the bob of blond curls currently faceplanting from a failed skimboard launch at shore. The mention of Alola got Aaliyah to raise her eyebrows in interest with a wider smile.]
Alola too, huh 'cuz?
My dad lived outside of Seafolk Village years ago, with my uncle. Been island hopping for a long time myself. I'm usually over there with Olivia, learning how to make jewelry. Nice little hobby on the side, so I'm sure I'll find some shells to do something with.
We all live pretty close to Alola, a day's leisure flight or sail over. The water is pretty similar so the region has always felt like a second home.
[She definitely seemed interested in what Luano had to say, at this point turned in his direction fully to better pay attention.]
( @kuixotic-rps )
Try as he might to stay out of view, it wouldn't last for long. First was the piercing gaze from the water, slowly building in intensity.
Once he was to turn around he could see his eldest sibling in the water, Errakis with an expression that if it could speak, would say-"Oh, you're done for".
" 'LA MIERDA, BAYANI HOW DID YOU GET HERE?!"
Before Bayani even turned to Ariel and Errakis, an annoyed grimace had been growing on their face. No one else from home was supposed to be here. This trip had been a secret, and yet a pack had clustered to the very same beach. There’s no way this was a coincidence. Ariel must’ve done something.
“I WALKED??? But I’ll teleport next time if I find an Abra✨”
What had been a casual pace in arranging their scuba gear, became rushed as Bay scrambled to connect a hose to their BCD. They then stuck one of their regulators in their mouth to test its air flow, only to receive nothing. The boy gave a tsk and started turning the valve on their tank, eyeing their older sister and her boyfriend. Bay wasn’t going to let these two stall them from getting in the water.
[Their eldest sister began to storm out of the water effortlessly the moment she picked up on the change in pace, Errakis standing and looking around in the water a bit aimlessly as he watched Ariel climb out of the water.]
[Even if she didn't directly inherit their father's eyes, this was the moment it shone through-quite literally. The familiar yellow glow that occurred when he was startled or going through an intense emotion was present here as Ariel loomed over Bayani, looking between him and their Totodile with growing agitation.]
Don't just SPEED UP! Don't you know you can make mistakes like that?! What do you think will happen if dad finds out you're here without telling anyone, let alone if something happened to you?!
[She exhaled with an exasperated sigh. Not once did she try to touch his equipment, but there was an attempt to block his way.]
LOOK. Look... if you REALLY want to dive, you're not fucking doing it alone okay? We'll find someone who can dive with you, deal? But you better not try to do this on your own or so help me I will find a way to hide your gear so that you never see it again, carajo.

Luano@Altas: He happened to overhear the group passing back. Curious, he says, "Hey, I hope you don't mind me inserting myself here." He smiles. "You're a Ranger right? I know the Rangers in my region was only established recently but top notch so I wanted to know if yours does things differently, if you don't mind me asking."
[At the mention of it, Atlas whips around almost comically-his hair smacks who is presumed to be his friend, who only so much as closes his eyes as it happens. Looks as if he had experienced it too many times to be surprised.]
Me? Heh, yeah! I'm a Ranger! Home's got two different kinds-your standard land based ranger who goes around helping others and getting people out of situations, and the Maritime Rangers which I'm a part of.
[Atlas puffs out his chest in pride as he continues.]
Y'see, Tano has some new islands in the chain now between her mainland and Alola. There was a need for a focus on water operations and rescues because of it. We get to do search and rescues all the time! We've also got a local, wild Dragonite population who help us out of their own will, so it's pretty cool to have that alliance.
[At some point he points to a smaller grouping on the beach, to the tallest in the group of three who was sunbathing.]
My cousin Aaliyah over there, she's a land based Ranger. Well sort of, actually. She kinda does stuff you'd see a first responder do, so she's more in the municipalities than in the wilds in between territories.
[The quiet one of the pair had been fidgeting the whole time, smiling nonetheless as he listened to the other talk. Once he spoke up, his voice was a bit soft, but he got what he wanted across.]
Mat: What he failed to mention is that he's only starting out, so Atlas is only doing the basics.
[Atlas in turn rolls his eyes, but in a way that isn't malicious or rude.]
Atlas: Yeah, yeah, I'm like an over-glorified lifeguard on the beaches right now. But I'll be top ranger some day!
[A small group arrives to the beach, chattering among themselves with no one seeming to be left out. The air around them is of familiarity despite some occasional peaks in volume, which would then be followed by equally loud laughter.]
I still don't know why we couldn't have gone to the beach at home, nothing beats the water there.
Well not everyone actually comes to our beaches, even though I agree with you. Besides, we can meet some new people out here! It's like going to the beach in Alola or something.
This is not Alolan water, dude.
Why did you come if you were gonna complain anyway?
[Two members of the group start off against each other, the others either sighing quietly or ignoring them entirely.]
Because I wanted a break! Ranger duties are tough y'know.
You're a Maritime Ranger, who spends all day in the water, so your idea of a break is… being back in water.
Okay like you don't ride around on your Cyclizar on your days off--
Datsun needs the exercise like any other dragon, you idiot!
[As the bickering continues the group arrive closer to the rest of the beachgoers, the arguing between the two cousins quieting down for the most part. They all start to section off between themselves, but not before making a plan on where to meet up.]
Well, we're gonna spend our time in the water and look at what's around here. We'll see you guys in a bit!
Enjoy your date--
IT'S NOT-NOT ENTIRELY, OKAY-
[One of the pair makes quick pace to the water, the other half laughing quietly before waving to the others and following along.]
-
Aaliyah does have a point though, you wanted to come here to relax after spending all your time in the water already?
[Mateo fidgets with the drawstring of his hat, his shorter companion laughing.]
It's like my dad. He's a music teacher, so you'd think he gets tired of doing music related things. But he still plays in his free time. I can chill in the water!
Besides I know I was shitting on the water quality here, but it's not that bad. I'm just prideful of the water we have at home, nothing can beat Tano y'know?
So this means you'll be causing mischief in the water?
Oh you know it~
-
Now I know you're the youngest of us out here, but we'll still have a good time out here. Give those eyes a rest from looking at sheet music all day.
But what about you guys?
[The youngest in question looks between them with uncertainty.]
Well, I might take a small dip later but I'm fine over here. Aaliyah said she wants to sunbathe. We could get food, there's volleyball-probably more Aali's range than ours.
[They gesture to their height in comparison to their other cousin, getting a laugh out of all of them.]
Don't worry about us Yami, we're all just here for an easy time. As much as we have nothing to leave the island for, we're all kinda in our own bubble over there. Might as well try to make some friends and broaden the horizons a little.
[The islanders have arrived at the beach!]

So, this will strictly be written participation on my end! I only made visuals for what the group is wearing and to have an idea as to who is who. No real hints but I'll try to send them around-this is a means of me finding their voices and getting in the groove of writing again.
This group is from @beyond-the-isle, which while it isn't an askblog-the characters featured will get their own blog in due time. They're part of the next generation from asktheisle, in short.
On the repository blog I don't have their ages listed, but I'll do so on this post while also linking to their summary pages from their original blog.
