Things have been on my mind, recently.

As a creator who genuinely loves working on stories, art, characters, and whatever, it breaks my heart endlessly to see some of my fellow creators (some who I've looked up to) be basically bullied off of their own projects.

Over the decade I've been on Tumblr, I've seen countless of some of my favorite bloggers get discouraged from continuing their own stories because of people who end up getting angry over things not going "their way". I never had to deal with it myself, but seeing dedicated groups of people who's whole goal is to rip others down because they did one minor thing they didn't like is gross. This isn't a "I can't handle constructive criticism", this is people treating content creators like garbage because something isn't going the way THEY envisioned a story going.

Creators are people too, believe it or not.

Creators often create things out of PASSION; so having people get upset over these works of passion makes me incredibly sad, and scared to work on my own things.

It's a lose-lose scenario for those who do this to people too: You lose the content you enjoyed, and you look like an asshole for doing this in the first place.

There's nothing wrong with criticizing a show or a creator, let me be clear on that. But harassing people because they did something you didn't like, whether it be with how they wrote/drew/made something or something they said outside of their creations, that's not a way to fix what you want fixed. It's how you lose things.

In a climate where everything is going to shit, I think it's important to remind everyone that it's easier to be kind than it is to be hateful.

Be the love and hope the world doesn't have; don't add to the hate.

And if you don't like how someone is doing something, then pick up a pencil and create it instead.

(@shaymincafe) Shaymes bowed his head to Ollie. "Blessings be upon you and your kin," he said with a smile. "How exactly did you come to know of the Magi and their blessings? Has word of them spread so far or did someone who previously met them tell you about them?"

Ollie still seemed shaken by the previous encounter, as their tail stayed firmly curled around them, hiding their paws from few.

"My teacher mentioned them once, when I was really young. I don't remember much besides that bringing them berries and water would grant those with a gift. Sorry if that's not super interesting, it's been a while since I heard the stories of them."

( @askanoddpikachu ) Kumori @ Ollie: “You seem to think highly of your mentor,” Kumori gave a slight nod and wave as he approached. “So what would make you want to leave your mentor?”

The question seemed to stun Ollie, their tail curling around their front paws as if to shield them in the fluffy fur. They stared blankly past Kumori for a while, unable to answer.

Suddenly, their attention snapped back. Their mouth was agape as their unseen eyes darted back and forth, like they were surprised by their own body freezing up.

"I..." The Flareon cleared their throat, regaining their original composure. "I, sadly, didn't leave my mentor. She was quite old when she took me under her wing. A lot of 'mon would call her 'Granny Mystic' in the city I grew up."

"But she had passed away a little while after I evolved. Our last adventure together was to Lake Verity. After we came home, I chose to evolve."

Ollie's expression didn't seem to change as they recalled their teacher, not even a crack of a smile just from recalling her memory like before. Their tail didn't move either, still curled around them protectively. They continued, their tone still quite flat as they spoke.

"Again, I miss my mentor a lot, but I know she's happy that I'm continuing her work."

(Yuko@Ollie) Yuko crouched down to get a little closer to the Flareon, smiling softly. "Forgive my forwardness, but I couldn't help but notice those feathers you have... Have you met a Ho-Oh by any chance? Or are related to one by chance? I'm from Johto you see and I've always wanted to see one."

Ollie shook their head, but smiled. The bells in their neck fluff jingled gently with their movement. "No, these feathers are purely decorative, as I've mentioned."

"I'm from Johto myself. Ecruteak, to be specific. I've wanted to see a Ho-Oh in the flesh as well, since the story of The Burned Tower is very influential to me. It's what inspired me to go on this path, studying legends of such powerful Pokemon."

"I don't know if I'll ever be lucky enough to meet one, but I hope you can someday."

She stands on her knees at the sand and waves to them with a huge smile of hers. And somehow, curiosity strikes.

"Bonsior! I hope you have a great time 'ere?

I kinda met anyone who also resembles a Legendary. A Xerneas-blessed Sylveon. Do you, perhaps related to 'er, or it's just you know each ozer?"

"Can't say I'm familiar." The Flareon tilted their head in interest. "I've really never met any sort of Legendary, until now. I honestly don't feel worthy. Especially being questioned by a Lugia about what I study, of all things, heheh."

Everly@Ollie: The Sylveon walks up to Ollie, humming ‘Welcome to the New World’ and then greets. “Hello there! What berries did you bring the Magi?” She asked politely.

"It's not too personal, really." Ollie grabbed the golden-colored bag and opened it, revealing the assortment they had brought. "I figured some harder-to-find berries would be appropriate for something like this, so I brought some Custap, Petaya, and Haban berries. They're some of my favorite." They dug into the small bag a little more, pulling out one more berry. "I also managed to find one Enigma berry, these are also quite rare. I do hope the Magi like them."

Ollie tucked the black and white berry back into the bag, tying it back up to keep its contents inside. "As for my request, I really don't need much. I'd just like some guidance."

After they answered, Ollie looked up towards the starry sky; and with their eyes more visible to their fellow Eeveelutions, a pain could be seen in their gaze. They seemed to get lost in their thoughts for a moment, before blinking and turning back to Everly and Vesta. "My apologies, for getting lost for a moment. It's just been a while since I've stopped and rest. I tend to get lost in my own thoughts often..."

I'm gonna kinda speedrun through some Magi Event asks with some text-only responses, mostly due to not having the energy to draw and also Woolhaven has me hooked for real and I'd like to get back to my She-lamb-igains (lamb shenanigans)

And so it was that the night came to an end. Silvan was joined at the buffet table by many others, in time. They had spoken to many people, and they were happy to say they had made some friends.

What would come of their journey, they did not know. But the night had given them the energy to keep moving forward. To keep going, even if the road would be tough.

"It's fine," Silvan had come to this event to try and make some new friends out and about in the world. They couldn't rely on their friends and family at home out there amongst the world.

Though, they were hoping they might run into their brother Dante while exploring.

The question about evolution had them smile, and they took out their book on their species to show Ollie the images on the pages of the three they had mentioned;

"These are them," they said, "I always just liked how they looked. The tasks involved in obtaining them too sorda suited me. I don't mind battles if I think I have a shot at actually winning them. Azureon and Falcheon give me a feeling of strength... something that I feel like I would really enjoy having to feel good about myself."

"As for Caneon, I do like nature, especially Autumn," they liked how the illustration showed Caneon playing with leaves, "so I would've been okay with that being my evolution, too."

Ollie looked at the pages intently, nodding along to Silvan's explanation. "Fascinating. I've never seen other Eeveelutions outside of the normal eight." They smiled at the Eevee as they continued. "It's good you have some optimism towards this, it being a big decision and all."

The Flareon looked at the pictures again, and gently tapped their paw on the page with Falcheon. "This could suit you, with you being shiny and everything. And I'm sure your fighting spirit would be perfect for an evolution like that."

"Regardless though, whatever you end up evolving into, I hope it makes you happy someday. Even if you don't evolve for whatever reason, I still hope you find happiness in it."

Silvan didn't realise, then, that they were in a position of privilege. They had always been surrounded by family - parents, grandparents, even great grandparents. They were still alive and had long since passed the leadership along the family or to others who were worthy before their mother came into power.

They were surrounded by friends and family to support them.

Ollie was not.

"It's okay," they weren't used to it, but it wasn't as though Silvan was in the best of moods. The thoughts about their journey, the encounter with Morgan, their 'fight' with Everly, all weighed on them.

"I wasn't in a very good mood anyway," they didn't realise how crass that probably sounded until they said it, even if they had meant well. "I'm sure your mentor is proud of you."

They didn't know Ollie well, but Silvan could tell they were trying their best.

"My mother always said that if you try your best at life, those that love you will always be proud of you. It sounds like your mentor did, so I think you have."

Ollie gave a slight chuckle, along with the tiniest of smiles. "I appreciate your words, truly."

"Apologies for making this about me, heh. I'm not use to sharing so much like this." They kneaded their paws in the sand awkwardly. "Perhaps we can circle back to the original topic: Evolution. Can I ask if there's any particular reason you wanted those evolutions specifically?"

"After all, I'm sure you're well aware how important choosing an evolution is, especially with multiple paths available."
