Male announcers mock young women for taking selfies during a baseball game

The clip starts with Arizona Diamondback announcers Steve Berthiaume and Bob Brenly asking fans to tweet their strongest photo, but quickly devolves into the two men making fun of the girls for doing exactly what they asked. Besides this hypocrisy, this is pretty troubling considering the sexism and stereotypes surrounding female sports fans.

After being ridiculed by the announcers, these young women received apologies from FOX Sports and free tickets to an upcoming game. However, the girls - who are all members of Alpha Chi Omega sorority - decided to donate the tickets to a non-profit for domestic violence victims. Alpha Chi Omega’s national philanthropy is domestic violence awareness and October happens to be National Domestic Violence Awareness month, and these girls turned the network’s groveling into a selfless act while drawing attention to a worthy cause. Keep being gorgeous inside and out, ladies!

I think how when Buffy receives the SAT scores, it doesn’t make sense for her to have gotten such high results. Throughout the first three seasons, she was never presented as an intelligent character. After all, she had been kicked out of school. Although Buffy was never made to look stupid or dumb, she was constantly having stereotypical blonde moments. I have no hate towards BTVS for that storyline, but it just never made much sense to me.

buffy has also made clever references to things like waiting for godot, showing her to be broadly educated and having a deep understanding of what has been presented to her. she’s never shown to lack talent in formal schooling, she’s just shown to have bigger priorities than studying. her grades are low because she ditches class on a regular basis, not because she can’t learn the material.

I find Buffy’s “stereotypical blonde" moments fascinating, because I think they’re pretty clearly a gendered performance. Throughout the series, but especially early on, Buffy shows some fear that she won’t be seen as womanly or desirable because of her superpowers. From as late as mid season 5’s “I Was Made To Love You":

Buffy: I just want to know that there’s gonna be another good one; one that I won’t chase away.

Xander: There will be. I promise. He’s out there; he can come along any minute.

Buffy: And the minute after that I can terrify him with my alarming strength and remarkable self-involvement.

I don’t think that she’s flat-out lying about her intelligence, the way that, say, Lydia Martin does on Teen Wolf. It’s more like, when she’s being “dumb", it’s because she’s putting exactly zero effort into being smart. It’s a way of putting other people at ease - of putting herself at ease, when in other areas of her life she needs to be hyper-vigilant or she could die. It also serves to give her the element of surprise. There are numerous villains who underestimate her based on her performance of femininity.

So yeah. Buffy’s brilliant, and her “stereotypical blonde" moments are just more evidence of that fact - and evidence of sublime characterization by Whedon, Gellar & co.

(And, yeah, I guess they’re evidence of patriarchy, too.)

Agreed. She is strategic in her use of “blonde", often to mess with her foes, but also to goof with her friends or to torment Giles. I’m especially fond of her demon-language mispronunciations, which combine her disdain for “demon culture" with her fondness for teasing Giles — and the Council.
