There has been always a great chit chat about the BMW 6 series in India, between midsize luxury sedans like 5 series, E-class, A6, and XF and giant limo like sedans such as 7 series, S class, A8, and XJL etc. As we know, the larger limo sized sedans obviously get larger engines, but in India, they are sold with longer wheelbases and in stretched guises. It was a killer strategy that disrupted the market, however as it seems, BMW had its own, completely different strategy to ford that chasm. Instead of modifying one car to straddle 2 segments, they’ve merely launched 2 cars. The new 6-Series Gran Turismo (GT for short) sits on top of the 5-series, but because it'll be domestically assembled from day one, it’s not too much costlier. So, at Rs 58.90 lakh, it’s about Rs 7 lakh over the equivalent 5-series. The 6 Series GT is BMW’s sleekest rendition of a Gran Turismo nonetheless and nearer to a sedan in shape, too.
