Random Doodles - Boo's Expressions
Found an old sketch from last year with Boo (from the Super Mario series) and what expressions he would have. Finally gave them life in digital form. Still thinking of how I can present these. Die-cut stickers? Buttons? Why, the possibilities are quite endless!
What other expressions would you like to see from Boo? Let me know in the comments!
My Neighbor Markipiler and The Return!
I'm back, baby~
And with a preview piece of a rather fancy piece featuring YouTuber/Pro Screamer/Squirrel King Markipiler and his friend Totoro! (From his video of the "My Neighbor Totoro" game demo on the Oculus Rift which you can watch HERE.)
I'm slowly getting back to the swing of things after a few setbacks (which are always not fun) and working on a few projects now. Hoping to get into full swing in no time. Woot!
New Item - Guts Sticker
New Item Alert! (AHHH~)
Another new item from Anime Expo 2014 is now up for sale at Random Goods! The lovable Guts from Kill La Kill is now in sticker format and ready to radiate his awesomeness. Check it out HERE~
New Item: Bravest Warriors - Action!
"Bravest Warriors? You guys kinda looks like dorks."
One on the items that made its debut during Anime Expo 2014: the Bravest Warriors print! Inspired by the animated series on Cartoon Hangover features the four heroes that make up the Bravest Warriors: Danny, Beth, Chris, and Wallow. If you haven't checked out their YouTube channel yet, I highly recommend it! It was created by Pendleton Ward who you may know as the creator of the Cartoon Network hit series, Adventure Time. The show features the group tackling on problems head-on in the depths of space and helping out those in need. And there's also Catbug, but more on him later.
This is a large print (11"x17" in size) that is now available for purchase over at Random Goods! There are also more Bravest Warriors items coming to the store so be on the lookout!
Anime Expo 2014 - THANK YOU!
A huge and heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who stopped by at my Artist Alley table during Anime Expo 2014 last weekend. It was great seeing my artist friends again and making new comrades. Looking past the whole line con deal for checking-in (servers crashing and whatnot) and the stress that came about beforehand, I had so much fun last weekend that I can safely say that this was my favorite AX yet.
Random Goods is slowly getting updated with new product images and new items that made their debut during AX. The items that sold out will be added on over the next few days. Commissions are also being worked on and will be mailed out by next week. If you have any questions about items, commissions, or anything store-related, feel free to email me at kupomatic[at]gmail[dot]com.
Next up on the convention list: San Diego Comic-Con! I will be attending as a Professional again and mingling with everyone of all fandoms (and more Line Con!). If you'll be attending, I hope to see you there!
Bee & Puppycat - Two Sides of the Same Coin
One of the newest pieces for Anime Expo 2014 - a print inspired by the hit animated series, Bee and Puppycat! Only two episodes exists so far, but it's so wonderful and amazing that I had to do piece. This drawing was partially inspired by the manga artwork of Sailor Moon (which, in turn, also inspired the Bee and Puppycat series).
Thankfully, the Bee and Puppycat Team had a very successful Kickstarter campaign a while back and will be coming back with a full season! I'm very excited to see what comes out in the new season.
This 8"x10" print will be available for purchase at Anime Expo 2014 next month and also for sale afterwards on Random Goods. Yeah!
New Logo/Watermark for Random Sunshine
Finally got around to creating a black and white logo (with screentones) for the site. Used the line art for my current self-portrait. Also will be using it as a watermark when posting artwork online (though I will need to spend time replacing it on current works). I actually like how it all came out in the end.
Commission: Dino Pirate and Shark Buttons
A fairly large commission! (The first of its kind, actually.)
Completed an order of 400 pinback buttons for the San Diego Natural History Museum. The buttons were party favors for the Members' Night back in March. Guests could choose one of two designs: Shark/Megalodon and Dino Pirate (to coincide with the current Real Pirates exhibition). I also created larger cutout versions of both Dino Pirate and Shark as photo booth props. I was not able to attend the event, but I heard the pins were a big hit!
Commission: Sherlock and Watson's Discovery
Commission of a Sherlock/Doctor Who crossover I completed for my friend back in March. While working on this, I learned that it is quite difficult to accurately draw a TARDIS.
Note to Self: Get around to watching a few episodes of both shows sometime...
It's My Birthday! (And You're Invited!)

Welcome to 2014!
Here's the first post in the New Year (albeit we're now halfway through January)! Following the Lunar Calendar, 2014 marks the Year of the Horse so I did a little doodle to celebrate!
A huge THANK YOU who contributed to an awesome 2013! Many awesome things happened with Random Sunshine and Random Goods over the last year. Conventions and events were very successful and it was fun meeting with new people and making new friends. In addition, sales on Random Goods increased from this last year which including a small surge in December. Items are now restocked and updated so the number you see for any one item is up to date.
I have a list of works I want to get started on for 2014 including a few that were originally thought up in 2013. There are also a few things I'm currently researching for the store and, if all goes well, will be put into motion as we go through this year. And as always, I'm open to any suggestions that you all may have. Anything you would like to see made for 2014? Let me know!
That should do it~ let's go, 2014!
Art for Holiday Cards!
On a crazy whim (and just wanting to draw something festive), I decided to create holiday cards for this year. I've never done them before and this is the fist year to try them out. I went with a doodle of myself and Gizmo partaking in one of my favorite winter activities: ice skating. I modeled my leap after early 20th Century figure skater turned Hollywood actress Sonja Henie. The final versions came out as postcards and were sent off to CatPrint last week and came in on Monday ready to be dispatched!
The cards will be included with all orders from Random Goods for the month of December. A number of them will also be reserved for friends as well. I only have a few printed so get them while they're still here!
Speaking of Random Goods, the Holiday Sale is still going on through the end of December! Just use the code OMGHOLIDAY and get 15% off your entire! Great for stocking stuffers and party favors. Some items are selling fast so stop by soon!
It's a Holiday Sale Time!
Going along with the holiday spirit, Random Goods will be having its first ever Holiday Sale! From now until December 31st, use the Discount Code OMGHOLIDAY to save 15% off your entire order! Perfect if you are looking for stocking stuffers or something small to give for the anime and video game fanatic on your list!
As an added bonus, domestic orders will now have a USPS Tracking Number and buyers will be able to see where their packages are before their arrival! I'm currently experimenting with this option and, if goes well, will add in on for domestic orders (for an added fee). Unfortunately, this option is not available for international orders.
Thank you all for your support throughout the year and Happy Holidays!
Commission Works: Strawberry Scented Burnout Duo
Last week, I completed a commission for my good friends over at Strawberry Scented Burnout to promote the return of their blog which deals with all things geeky and awesome as their tagline states: "We're all about that geek life."
The drawing features the fearless leaders of SSB: Francis (left) and Justin (right). Francis pitched the idea to me of the drawing having a "yin and yang" feel to it showing the opposites between the two: the happy-go-lucky Francis and the no-nonsense Justin. Both of the guys provided notes for me to work with and what their respective avatars should wear. Francis is wearing a black hoodie from Triumph United and MMA shorts from Hayabusa. Justin is wearing a Los Angeles Dodgers jersey, camo pants, and red Nike Roshes.
It had been awhile since I've worked on commissions and I'm glad that this was the project to jump start commission works again. I do hope to be able to make more works for SSB sometime in the future.
If you are interested in a commission, send over an email to kupomatic[at]gmail[dot]com and we'll see what we can get done. :D
Extra Life 2013 Epilogue (Or That One Time I Spent 25 Hours Playing Video Games)
A few days of much needed rest later and I have recovered from the awesomeness that was Extra Life 2013! This past weekend was spent playing all sorts of video games and getting into all sorts of shenanigans all for helping out the kids.
A huge THANK YOU to everyone who tuned into our live stream on Twitch to see everything unfold from playing Divekick with Donkey Kong bongos to watching our two bravest (read: incredibly stupid) teammates eat ghost peppers and also to everyone who donated. We raised over $500 all which is going to Rady Children's Hospital here in San Diego. We'll still be collecting donations through the end of the year and you can check that out HERE. And if you missed the live stream or want to relive your favorite moments, the entire broadcast is now up on the Kupo_yo Twitch Channel HERE.
The entire weekend was so much fun and I'm so happy to have been a part of it. Hope we can do it all over again next year!
