Kiyoko

Kiyoko is the Matriarch of Keyse’s clan. She is a 1000 years old kitsune and she’s a wise and strict ruler. Despite being a strict leader, she cares a lot about her clan and is very compassionate and kind. Keyse looks up to her a lot and considers her a mother figure. Kiyoko often has to put up to Keyse’s shenanigans and she’s always trying to fix the troubles the young kitsune gets herself in, but despite being annoyed at Keyse most of times, she cares a lot about her and knows that the younger kitsune doesn’t often does that on purpose. Kiyoko is tutoring Keyse in becoming the Clan’s Spiritualist because of Keyse’s strong contact with the spiritual world.

Yomiel noticed the fox almost immediately as it padded into view. He took a step back, surprised at its approach. He would expect an animal like a fox to avoid him but… perhaps it thought he was prey? 

Oh no. Yomiel narrowed his eyes at the fox, gaze wary. He really didn’t want to deal with an animal attacking him at this moment. It didn’t really matter as no damage would be done to his body… but being lost in a forest was enough mental stress for the day.

He took another step back, readying himself for anything.

And then the fox spoke.

Yomiel’s jaw dropped slightly, both in surprise and utter disbelief.

“I-I did you–” The deadman stammered, pointing at the four-legged animal with confusion. “D-Did you just speak or am I going mad??” He asked the fox, as if expecting it to answer.

Well, he didn’t know what to expect at this point. His life was slowly getting crazier and crazier… was this fox a part of the whole multiverse thing?

Oh, that was rude. Keyse normally presented herself to other humans as a human illusion or, in rare cases, using her human shapeshift form, but since she was going speak with the Hitodama of this man, she wasn’t expecting such a rude answer. Ghosts could normally communicate with kitsunes and other forest spirits after all. Unless this one wasn’t actually a spirit? But then why could she clearly see his Hitodama?

“Did you just speak or am I going mad?” She mimicked him out of spite. “Of course I can speak. You can speak and I’m not freaking out over it.”

The kitsune sighed. She really didn’t want to do that, but if this guy wasn’t comfortable talking to a fox...

A purple light took over her petite fox form and the light grew and grew until when it faded away, there wasn’t a fox standing there anymore but... a beautiful woman dressed up like a shaman.

“Is this any better for you, then?” Pfft. Humans.

[🐾] Green eyes trailed after the fox as she wandered the forest. Foxes were often a threat, at least those that didn’t belong to one of the four Packs that shared the massive woodland with. Lone vulpine were often nicer than their rogue counterparts, the same with cats really. But this canine had an odd scent to her. Pack scent on her, but not one of the four that were around here. Was she lost? What could she be doing so far into RueClan territory?

“Ex-excuse me…” MoonClan, please let her be friendly…

Okay, maybe she went too far from her clan’s territory this time. Keyse wasn’t recognizing this part of the woods and the scents indicated other animals around, animals she didn’t know. Oh, no, the Matriarch would be so mad if Keyse got herself in trouble with some other Kitsune Clan or another pack. She didn’t mean any harm, but other animals outside her territory wouldn’t always be kind to a stranger like her. Luckly, she was a kitsune instead of a normal fox, so she could always use her powers if such a situation came to happen.

Until she felt the scent of a feline nearby and she turned around the cat addressed her.

“Oh...?” Her ears pearked up in an alarmed expression. “...Ah, sorry, didn’t mean to intrude. If this is your territory, I don’t mean any harm, I just got lost while exploring, that’s all.”

[🦊] Being a guardian spirit, it was her duty to protect the forest from strangers, so when Keyse sensed a foreign presence in the woods she quickly went ot investigate, only to find something... unusal.

There was a human male standing there, seemingly lost. Didn’t seem like a hunter or anyone ill-intentioned. He seemed... lost and from the looks of it, maybe afraid. But that wasn’t what got her attention.

What really caught the kitsune’s attention was the glowing Hitodama light inside the man’s chest. Being the Spiritualist of her Clan, Keyse was able to see Hitodama, spirits of the departed and could communicate with them. They were often seen wandering around the forest, lost and sad, but that was the first time she saw one attached to a body. What could this mean?

She remembered the ancient legends of Kyuubi, the first nine-tailed fox, the first kitsune to ever exist and how she helped a poor man who was lost in the woods. The old man being in fact, goddess Inari in disguise, blessed the fox who helped her and that’s why kitsune existed. To protect the forests and to help lost souls. So would do what her nature demanded her to, she would help this poor man.

Approaching him curiously and a bit shyly, the kitsune didn’t even cast an illusion to disguise her fox appearance. She judged it wouldn’t be necessary to disguise her true form if she was going to speak to a Hitodama.

“You seem to be lost.” She finally spoke, approaching cautiously. “It’s the first time I see a Hitodama attached to a body. But.. you died, right? Is that your body?”
