im thinking of trying to make it off my own talents rather than sell my soul to a corp again and run my mental health further into the ground
so two of my 2025 goals are:
1. start a merch shop
2. maybe start a patreon
but idk how the nitty-gritty if any of that works. taxes, outsourcing for stuff like keychains or other things, good places for that stuff (bc ive seen ppl mention pollution waste being high w that?), what people want in a patreon, like anything like that
truly open for feedback here because ive always wanted to kinda make my income based on doing something enjoyable and i know thats not always feasible but i want to at least try because for years i always told myself i wasnt good enough or it wouldnt work so ive basically ignored all insight into that world i coulda gotten through the years bc of a quitter’s mindset 😓
reply to this post or reblog it if you have anything. as a seller/patreon runner or even the other side: what you like to see from amateur/indie merch or what inspires you to subscribe to a patreon and keep your sub
or if you really wanna talk the particulars as a seller/patreon person we can exchange discords or some other way to talk extensively
im trying to be super serious abt this bc i have some actual support this time around and i feel really inspired to go for it
for reference: i have my kinda niche id go for. like my strength is very much illustrative stuff and i have some background in graphic design. so idk abt 3D merch like plushies or 3D print stuff but yea
for subject matter itd be stuff im interested in. which i know limits my customers but i cant draw smth i dont care about >_>; but ive already factored this in to tampering my expectations
