I had this ff idea where Shang Qinghua dies post cannon by some accident, right in front of Mobei jun. He is in denial and keeps Shang Qinghua’s body preserved in cold chambers, similarly to how Lbh kept Shizun's body for five years.
Days, weeks and months pass but Shang Qinghua is not “waking up”. Mobei jun kills anybody telling him that it is just an empty body.
In the meantime Cang Qiong mountain notices Shang qinghua's absence and Shen qingqiu together with Luo binghe discover what happened.
Shen qingqiu tells Mobei jun about sun and moon dew mushroom plant, but admits he has no idea if Shang qinghua has a backup body. Shang qinghua never mentioned it but we all know he could as well have forgotten it.
Mobei jun spends years searching for this rare plant. The north falls to almost ruin as Mobei jun is occupied with his grief driven search and no one replaced Qinghua in his court.
Years later he finds a batch of this specific plant, one of the sprouts already taking humanoid shape. It was Shang qinghua's backup body. Growing slowly but steadily.
Mobei jun builds a special greenhouse to move the small field of green and waits.
Years pass on and he waits and waits. He visits the greenhouse from time to time, to check if there was any change. He just steals a glance and walks away. Then lingers. The visits became more frequent as the body’s shape became unmistakingly Shang qinghua's. The plant’s chest begins to rise and fall one day and continues to do so. Throughout this time Mobei jun at last accepted that his Qinghua was (temporarily) dead. But he knew he would do anything to bring him back. Mobei jun is there when Shang qinghua's soul settles in and he wakes up.
The northern king had over a decade to rethink his past behaviour towards Shang qinghua. He also heard a earfull of tips from shen qingqiu when the peak lord checked on the mushroom body’s progress. Mobei jun came to a conclusion that his past actions scared Shang qinghua off and that this time he would not waste his chances.
So he attic wife’s Shang qinghua as he developed an unhealthy obsession towards him as well as separation anxiety.
No worries, An ding peak lord's life was never this luxurious, peaceful and full of hand pulled noodles. Shang qinghua once asked to leave but wouldn't press on further when he saw the pure fright on Mobei jun’s face. What can one do? Mobei jun just wants to keep him safe.
