Chapter 22 Preview

I know it's been awhile, but I'm back!

Okay hear me out, Free Guy, but make it Steddie.

Either a) Steve and Eddie are both programmers and Steve totally does not get jealous that Eddie has a little crush on the NPC that Steve made who just so happens to be in love with Eddie because actually he's in love with Eddie and he had to put those feelings somewhere so where else but the code? Yeah, not even a little bit jealous. Crime fighting and chaos ensues and ofc they get together, in the end.

Or, b) Steve is still the programmer, but Eddie is the aware AI, trying to escape the role he's been given (villain, criminal, etc.) and Steve's a lot little heartbroken when he figures it out but he can't bring himself to tell Eddie that he's not real, because he's real to him, and that's all that matters. Ofc Eddie does find out eventually and needless to say it doesn't go well. Eddie ends up sacrificing himself to help Steve get justice for his stolen work, but Steve makes a deal, gives it up to stop the last server from being destroyed so that he can bring Eddie back. His Eddie. I see this one either ending with Eddie's program being transferred to a robot (Steve gets a robot boyfriend 😎) or Steve transfers his consciousness to the game and lives there to be with Eddie.

In which I want to write both but will probably end up doing neither bc I already have so many fics to write 😭😭😭

Chapter 4 Preview:

Steve nearly jumped out of his skin when Robin placed her hand on his shoulder again, but it served to snap him out of the haze he’d been in the moment he’d seen the dark hair and bloody, gapping, torn flesh. 

It wasn’t him, but the passing resemblance was just close enough that Steve had been momentarily stunned. 

This person had been killed by demobats, there was no doubt about it, nothing else he'd seen in his entire life made wounds like that. 

And judging by the sluggish bleeding, it had happened not very long ago. 

Steve quickly stood back up, taking in the scene around him a little more carefully than before.

Chapter 3 preview: 

The car ride is filled with an uneasy silence after Mike signs off, no one really sure what to say. 

They continue on like that, no one saying a word, until about halfway to the cabin, when Dustin suddenly lets out a shout. 

“Look! Over there! The demobats!” Both Steve and Robin’s heads whip to the passenger side of the car, looking out the windows at what Dustin was seeing. 

“What are they doing?” Robin questions, her brows furrowed in confusion. 

There’s a clearing in the thick woods, right where a gate had split the earth wide open, and the bats are plunging themselves straight into it.

“Are they... going back?” Steve was equally confused. Vecna was nothing if not persistent, no way would he be calling back his demobats until they had completely terrorized all of Hawkins.

Just another thing about the day that didn’t make any sense.

Chapter 2 preview:

“Yeah, sure.” Steve smiled, glad to see Dustin was doing okay today.

“You’re such a mother hen, Harrington, no wonder you’re their favorite.” Steve bit back a laugh, turning his head to the side, a sarcastic comment on the tip of his tongue. 

But there was no one there.

No obnoxiously loud metal head who lacked any sense of personal space and who’s entire life goal seemed to be to annoy him. 

Steve’s expression immediately dropped, fists clenching in the sheet. 

It wasn’t the first time he’d imaged hearing Eddie’s voice making some stupid comment he knew would get a rise out of Steve.
