OOC- Dragon Con Day 2!
[IT WAS MY KYA COSPLAY DAY!
There will be better pictures later, but this is just the only one I took with my phone. Camera pictures later!
Not a whole lot of people recognized me, but a few did! I got a lot of "Are you Korra?" and "Are you Katara?" but I explained who I was and they were impressed. BUT, a few people were like, OHMYGOD IT'S KYA and I got really excited!
Side note... every time we saw a Mako we would yell "EYYY MAKOOOOooooOooOoOoo!" hehehe.
Today we met Tim and Jay from the Marble Hornets youtube videos! If you haven't seen those and you're in to spooky stuff, go check it out. We just randomly saw them in one of the hotels, introduced ourselves, and held a legit conversation!
We also went to a Once Upon A Time panel (with Gepetto, Jiminy Cricket, and Grumpy) and a Doctor Who panel!
Tomorrow... genderbent Captain America! Onwards!]
OOC- Dragon Con Day 1!
[So, I dressed up as River Song from Doctor Who today :D
TODAY I got to meet the actors who play Lafayette and Sam on True Blood, Steve and Tango from Ghost Hunters, and Josh Gates from Destination Truth and Ghost Hunters Live.
AND I ALSO GOT TO MEET...
JOHN BARROWMAN. FREAKING CAPTAIN JACK HARKNESS FROM DOCTOR WHO AND TORCHWOOD.
I fangirled SO HARD. Not even lying.
I have some fantastic pictures though, so I'll upload a few when I put them on my computer.
TOMORROW is my Kya cosplay! I'm so pumped! I hope people actually recognize who I am.
I love you all and thanks for putting up with my Dragon Con nerdyness :D ]

Loosen Up A Bit | @thebestteacher
“Energetic,” Tenzin answered while the baby twisted and babbled in his arms. He handed Rohan over to Kya and chuckled as Rohan took quickly to his aunt. All the children had loved to be held and have attention from Kya.
The airbender shook his head. “I don’t know what part of Republic City we haven’t been to, but I suppose…” he sighed.
“Alright, it doesn’t sound like too bad of an idea,” Tenzin conceded. Rohan seemed to cheer at his father’s voice, letting out a loud squeal and throwing his little fists up. “But you are staying here, son.”
“Always energetic, aren’t you, little man?” Kya kissed his chubby cheek and giggled with the baby. “Going to be like your big brother Meelo, huh? Or maybe Uncle Bumi?”
“YES!” Kya said, twirling around with Rohan. “It’s about time you let loose a little. We’re going OUT!” Kya handed her nephew back to Tenzin.
“Get ready, you! I’ll see you at 9.”
Tenzin sighed as he took Rohan into the kitchen. The boy squirmed and cooed excitedly. “If Daddy doesn’t come home tomorrow, Rohan, I want you to know that I love you very much. Also, to say no to any shenanigans your brother and Ikki try to persuade you to join in on.”
Later on, after he and Pema tucked the children in bed and the house was locked up tight, Tenzin straightened out his robes. They weren’t official council robes, nor his formal, but causal enough for him to be comfortable. And casual enough for Kya not to pick at him for them.
“Kya,” he knocked on her door a few times. Rather put off that after prodding and persuading him to come out that night, she herself was late.
Kya was, as usual, running late. It was kind of her specialty, running around at the last minute to get ready. Yanking a brush through her hair and pulling it up, she heard a knock at the door accompanied by a familiar voice.
"Coming, Tenzin!" She all but ran to the door, and threw it open to find her youngest brother. The amused look on his face was all Kya needed to see.
"I know, I know!" she said, before the snide comments began. "I'm running late. Sorry. I got sidetracked."
She grabbed Tenzin by the wrist, pulling him out of the room. "Let's go, little bro! We have things to do!"
When they arrived in the heart of the city, Kya smiled. This was her stomping ground as a young teenager. There wasn't a spot in Republic City that she hadn't explored. There probably wasn't a spot in Republic City she hadn't gotten into trouble in, either. Tenzin and Bumi had been with her on many of these escapades.
"Hey Tenz, remember what happened to us over there?" she said, pointing to a street corner that would have seemed harmless to anybody else. "Where we got ambushed by that firebending gang?" She smirked at the memory. "They didn't last too long, did they?"
Suddenly, she spotted one of her favorite bars on the other side of the road, and began to drag Tenzin towards it.
"I love this place!" she said excitedly. "Let's go!"

Bachelorette Party | @airmotherpema @hardboiledbeifong
Bang! Bang! Bang!
“PEMA!” Kya shouted as she all but broke down the door to her room in the Acolytes’ quarters of Air Temple Island. It was moderately early in the morning, but Kya couldn’t wait.
“Pema, get up!” she whined as she continued to harass the bedroom door. “We need to get you ready for your party! You know… your bachelorette party!”
Kya could hardly contain her excitement for both the upcoming night’s party and the next day’s wedding. Pema and Kya had been good friends for some time, and to have her marry her baby brother was like a dream come true. Kya loved her brothers dearly, but to finally have a sister, another woman in the family, would be perfect.
“Pema, Lin’s on her way and then we need to get you ready…”
Kya stopped short, nearly smacking herself in the forehead. How could she be so stupid? She had invited the groom’s ex-girlfriend to the bride’s bachelorette party.
“Really, Kya?” she thought with a sigh. “Well, hopefully it won’t be too awkward…”
“I’m coming, I’m coming!” Pema mumbled back as she nearly fell out of her bed. Grabbing the first skirt-robe-sash combination she saw in her drawer, she began to change, rolling her eyes at Kya.
Tripping into the skirt, she moved to the door and began knocking back at Kya. “I’m up! Be patient!”
Honestly, this was just like Kya. Pema had been awake since the first few rays of sun had pierced through her curtains, and the Waterbender still had to collect her hostage for the night. Pema couldn’t say she was looking forward to the night as she had never been one for parties, but she trusted Kya to make her night a good one.
Kya’s voice drifted through the door, and Pema, to caught up in braiding her hair, only caught the occasional word before she froze in her tracks, dropping the ends of her hair.
“Lin?!” She pulled open the door so Kya could see just how shocked she was. “Kya, she tried to arrest me when Tenzin and I were only dating, and now we’re-!”
Turning away from the older woman and moving to flop onto her bed, Pema heaved a sigh. “Kyaaaa!”
This was a terrible idea.
She hardly knew the woman, besides that she may or may not have tried to arrest her once.
But that didn’t matter. That was years ago. They were both adults here. This night would not end in disaster.
And if it did, they would all have Kya to blame.
Of course, she very well could have said no, but Kya had begged her. And promised that it would be fun. Or something.
Which it wouldn’t. It would be terrible. It was a terrible idea.
Lin groaned, banging her head against the front door a couple of times before actually knocking properly.
She hadn't meant for it to be awkward.
Lin was one of Kya's best friends. Who is it that you call on when you're supposed to be planning a party (especially a bachelorette party!) for someone? Your best friend.
The best friend is not usually the ex-girlfriend of the bachelorette's husband-to-be.
"Pema, I'm sorry!" She ran to the bed, hugging the young woman. "I didn't think. Lin and I have been good friends for a while and it was just kind of automatic to invite her..."
She paused, smiling. "She didn't say no to coming, though. Think about that. Obviously, she's ready to move past it all and be okay with you again!" She was keeping her tone optimistic, though she wasn't really sure of her words.
There was a knock on the door.
"I'll get it, it's probably Lin," she said, standing up. She looked over her shoulder at Pema. "Don't worry, if Lin starts to get testy I'll just freeze her to the ceiling. Not like I haven't done it before!"
