Kylar had been walking down the hallway, on his way to the training room, he'd seen his sister disappear into it a few moments ago from down the hall. Sighing the teen fiddled with the headphones that draped around the back of his neck, his head snapped up at the sound of shrieking, he froze for a very brief moment before leaping forward and jogging the rest of the way to the training room, long stride getting him there quickly, he could see over most people-- he was tall enough, some were screaming, some were crying "What the hell..?" he muttered furrowing his brows.
He was trying to push through the people but someone caught his arm and yanked him backwards just as his gaze began to settle on the pooling blood. The abrupt motion had nearly sent Kylar on his ass "What the fuck?" he snapped ready to turn around and deck someone but when his eyes landed on a familiar set of features, met blood shot teary eyes his breath hitched.
"No" Sky snapped angrily at him, her jaw clenched as she dragged him away. "No, you dont get to see that, I wont let you see that. Please Ky just dont." she was practically begging him and tugging him at the same time, "it was an accident with her portal" someone muttered near him, his head snapped up and his attention went over to the kid next to him gripping his shoulder and yanking him around so he was facing him "What did you just say?" he asked his voice almost angry but it cracked halfway through his sentence "I sad its that portal chick, Scarlett or something" he replied tossing Kylars hand off of him. His gaze flicked over to his twin "What happened, is she okay?" he asked pulling away from Sky to see if he could help, but he felt her nails dig into the flesh of his forearm leaving claw marks if not tracks of blood. "No!" she screamed at him, "Kylar goddamnit no. For once in your stupid life just listen to me" her voice was strained and she was almost panicked. "She's dead Ky, it was a-an accident with her portal or something" she replied, rushing to get the words out.
Kylar felt the breath leave his lungs, his stomach drop, just completely plummet, he wanted to throw up, top puke, he vaguely felt Skylar dragging him out of the room, tugging him along as he walked along side her, absently following, like a zombie or something. If not for the burning on his arm from her nails he'd think he was dreaming. Skylar tugged him along pulling him out of the chaos, he loved her, wanted to thank her or just hug her, something to tell her thank you for dragging him out. She moved him along until they were mostly out of the chaos. He swallowed thickly, trying to focus. He leaned against the wall and slid down, gaze trained on his hands but not really looking at them, his brain running about a billion miles an hour.
He'd just spoken to her yesterday, she'd been fine, smiling, giggling, those blue eyes full of life, they werent bright and happy like they used to be but they had life to them. She had life to her. He watched the blue glow dance across his skin, run up and down his arms, flashing back and forth. He thought briefly about just letting it out, letting the swell that filled his chest and gut, not just from the idea that Scarlett was dead but the actual build of of an explosion that started to rumble inside of him--just let it out.
He wanted to hit something or some one, or scream, cry maybe all three. He clenched his jaw as the memories flooded back, the first time they'd met, how she'd responded to him with such sarcasm and snark, the way she'd went from hating him to loving him. The day on the roof they'd gotten together, the day he'd kissed her for the first time, the day he'd realized he was in love with her. She was more than just a girl, or an ex girlfriend, she'd been his best friend. Kylar didnt care for a lot of people, mostly because he just didnt like them but he'd known her for eight months, and in that time he'd grown to love her as a person. He idea of her death wasnt exactly the part that hurt, that was the funny thing about death, it didnt hurt because you couldnt see them or talk to them-- it hurt because it was the knowledge of someone you cared about so deeply being non existent to the world. Someone you loved could move, but you could cope because you knew they were out there somewhere living life, but she was gone. Simply gone.
Apparently not since people are more focused on their goddamn relationships--which to be honest he laughed sarcastically is kind of fucking funny, one of the people in them will probably die next week anyway.
Yeah well maybe some people are just trying to keep their minds off of the big picture. I know it’s bullshit but what can we do besides fight? Nothing…
Well thats fucking stupid, this isnt some problem that will go away, its our life. We're stuck in it. Deal with it. Focus on it. Wrap your fucking mind around it because its not going away. On average how many times have you been in the training room?
Are you even listening to the words coming out of your mouth? Half the fucking people here are worried about getting married or having babies and fucking their stupid fucking boyfriends and girlfriends and people are dead. We got a nuke dropped on our heads its not a lose/lose situation, its fucking bullshit. This whole thing is bullshit.
Weston stayed silent upon hearing what Kylar said. He stared at him, the image of Christine’s smiling face appearing in his mind. His jaw clenched at the sight of the boy’s smile, but Weston said nothing. Did nothing. Not until Kylar started to walk away like some wimp-ass who wasn’t going to stick around for a rebuttal in fear of being shot into the ground. At which point Weston with his long legs took several swift strides towards Kylar, grabbed him by his shoulder to yank him around and socked him square in the face with a clenched fist. It was a solid punch that which Weston had had many years in perfecting, and straight afterwards he just stood there, brows marred; it’d been wrong of him to do it, yeah he knew that, but Kylar knew fuck all about anything. And shit, did Weston dislike him.
Given the fist that had landed in his face it was quite apparent he'd struck a nerve, this was going to end very badly for so many reasons. He gritted his teeth and let out a grunt bringing a hand to his face smearing the blood from his nose with the back of his hand before quickly returning the favor, he'd known how to punch before but the training had really only honed it. He twisted his torso forward putting weight in it as he drove his fist home, decking him and he'd be a liar if he said it didnt feel good. Fucking asshole. A slight flash of blue in his skin mad him hesitate--fucking A. Not good. Definitely not good. It was flashing over his body like a damn beacon, he gritted his teeth and huffed trying to lock down the literal explosion that wanted to break out.
Ash was staring at the punching bag in front of her, her limbs were tensed and her body was in a springing position, before she quickly moved and attempted to kick the bag… but over extended, missed, and ended up falling into the bag. "FUCK!" she screamed, her fingers twisting into the bag, before she stood straight up, looking back at the bag with determination on her face.
"You look like a lady on a mission" Ky commented setting his duffelbag down slowly as he stood a good ten or fifteen feet from her, watching her go at the punching bag.
