Problems are not stop signs, they are guidelines.

The ability to face a problem and all the despair is a very tough thing to do especially for a 15 years old boy; even elder struggle handling it. Just like what the crow said to Kafka “You’re going to be the World’s toughest 15 years old boy”, and he did. There are time that we feel like running and trying to escape the problems but that is not the solution, running away is not the solution nor a person should stay confident and face the problems for that is the only way it would disappear.

Hear the mournful sigh of the vortex

Being imprisoned by the culture, religion and tradition that are what Mariam is suffering in the excerpt. Muslims have a strong commitment to their culture which also includes wearing hijab and burqa. In the excerpt when Mariam was brought by her husband to a modernized part of the city, she saw that the place is very different from the place she was used to live in. Even the people are different and the common tradition of Muslims isn’t given that much importance for everyone has their own freedom even the ladies. This makes Mariam to pity herself for she couldn’t have the freedom that the others have. In the excerpt you could feel the loneliness of Mariam. She thinks that she’s a nadir who couldn’t attend college, a slave, and doesn’t have any decent job like in an office building. This excerpt shows the thirst of Mariam for freedom.

being your own unique self is pure beauty

In this excerpt, The Valley of Amazements, Lulu feels mournful about the way others are dictating he life without even her permission or opinion about it. That is why Lulu concluded that she should protect herself attributes which she calls “My Pure Self being” It make it clear for her to identify herself. In this excerpt it shows that being your own unique self is pure beauty.

Letting go doesn’t mean you stop caring. It means you stop trying to force others to

If you love someone then you love all of them. Not just the good things. Support them and be there for them. Flaws and All. But would you still support your love one even if it would cause harm for them? In the part of Maya she couldn’t make up her mind if she would prevent Michael from climbing the mountain for it’s Michael’s passion to climb the mountain and get photos from there since he is a press photographer. Being in trapped in that situation as Maya had is a very complex thing to have.In the excerpt of The Folded Earth, I have cogitate that we needed to make big sacrifices in life even if it would cause us losing someone we love. Like what the sayings have said “if you love someone, you need to support them and be there for them”. We all live once so we should make the most out of it and if a person would cause hindrance to his/her lover it just shows how he/she is selfish enough and doesn’t think about his/her partner’s counterpart. For Maya’s situation she just clearly show how much love and respect she has for her husband for letting him go and concur his quest. In the end the excerpt leave a valuable lesson which is “If you truly love someone, then the only thing you want for them is to be happy even if it’s not with you”.

You can change the world by changing your words

With great power comes with great responsibility. As for Malinalli she has a great responsibility in her hand by being “the tongue” of Cortes. Malinalli has a very adoptive mind for she can learn a language in an instant. Hence, Malinalli has a great power for she can alter what Cortes is gonna say, she can manipulate and influence the people with her own knowledge and perspective in life for she has inklings about Cortes’ perspective in life. Since Malinalli is very curious about Cortes’ religion and outlook, she consecutively ask Cortes which ends their conversation in Malinalli realizing that Cortes is just blinded by the Money. The story evidently shows that the tongue is a small thing, but what enormous damage it can do. Now its up to Malinalli if she would choose to alter the words of Cortes to guide the people well or she would just translate the words of Cortes even though she already knows how Cortes is blinded by the Money.

Now I know what a fool I’ve been

Idiocy, stupidity, foolishness? Is it that bad to turn blind for the sake of an happy ending? In this excerpt Penelope shows how her desolation about how folly she turned, just to avoid an awkward situation with her husband. Penelope lived a life of a blind man who’s doesn’t aware of the things that is happening. Penelope stayed shut expecting that everything is going good. Now that she’s dead she suddenly realize how her husband fib on her.

In this excerpt I had cogitate about how love and the desire for an happy ending makes us folly sometimes, just like what happened to Penelope since  she stayed shut even though she already had inklings; she still believed in her husband, she barely even ask a question that would make the situation awkward yet she even praised him. In the end Penelope ended up a sore loser and everyone is jeering on her. In life there is always a winner and a loser, that saying also applies in love sometimes; because when we love a person we are blinded by the good things he/she does and we just focus on keeping the relationship even if it makes us a fool and hurts us so much, since we don’t want the relation to end up because of one silly question.
