The house had been a constant state of cleanliness since she and Desmond returned from hospital. Things had not been great between them recently so instead of talking about it, Scarlett would turn to cleaning. She’d been a little disconnected from the world and hadn’t contacted her work or old school friends since returning, she felt like she was neglecting the people she loved so she organised for Kylie to come round with the boys. The inside of the house wasn’t exactly baby safe so she’d laid out a couple of blankets in the garden seeing as it was warm out, with toys and snacks for Aiden and Kohei.
Scarlett sat out by her front door, waiting for Kylie to get there. The driveway looked empty without Desmond’s car, they’d argued and he went for a drive, it had been a few hours but she knew he’d be ok, somewhere.
Kylie had managed to get Aiden and Kohei in the car without any trouble, which was surprising to her seeing as they were becoming handful. She adored being a mother, but it was difficult with two children now. Things had changed, her life becoming more hectic with them in her life. However, she wouldn’t have changed a thing for them.
Once they arrived Kylie got out and had Kohei in one arm and Aiden holding her hand as they walked up to the house. Once seeing her friend at the door she smiled, “Scarlett.” She exclaimed. Aides spotted her and smiled wide, he was trying to run from his mother’s grasp, but Kylie held him close knowing he would fall at some point. “He’s missed you,” She told her. “If that isn’t evident.”
“Hi!” Scarlett grinned and came forwards so that she could scoop up Aiden and give him a squeezing hug “I missed you too, I missed all of you.” she moved Aiden to one arm and hugged Kylie with her free one. Her grin died down and she pulled away “come on, I’ve set up the garden especially.” she pointed towards the side gate so they avoided going through the house.
Aiden wrapped his arms around Scarlett and he held tightly to her, it had been months seen her had last seen her. He missed her terribly, after spending so much time with her he had taken a close relationship with Scarlett.
Kylie followed her friend to the backyard and once they were there, she sat down on the blankets with Kohei and laughed, “Scarlett this looks wonderful.” She smiled, letting her second child sit in her lap. “This backyard it gorgeous. Have you been working hard on it?”
“It’s been a joint effort. I- um, we, like to have something nice to look out on when we’re washing the dishes.” she ran a hand through Aiden’s hair “So…how’s being a mum treating you?”
“It’s lovely with a mix of crazy.” Kylie chuckled as Kohei played with a bracelet that was around her wrist, “I thought one was a handful, but two is practically five of them in one. But I adore them and wouldn’t trade them for the world, Kohei and Aiden get along so well, Aiden adores being a big brother and tries to teach him things. But Kohei is isn’t even a year and a half, so he can only stare and laugh.” She chuckled.
“How... How are things with you?”
