The "she makes it harder for real victims to come forward" crowd never actually cared about real victims from the beginning. In fact, the "she makes it harder for real victims to come forward" argument is almost always used in cases where that woman IS a victim. It doesn't matter what photographic evidence and videos the victim presents or what injuries they sustain, they'll twist it.

"Why was she documenting and recording the abuse? She obviously was plotting this from the beginning."

"Why was her skirt so short? She was clearly asking for it."

"Why did she go back to him if he's an abuser? Something's off."

Ellie Williams deserved to go to prison. But so do the 99% of rapists who get away with it. Spare us your faux sympathy on victim's behalf, they've been through enough hell without you pretending you ever gave a shit about them.

It's insane how there's this narrative that "women are believed over men" regarding abuse but it's literally always the men getting public support in abuse cases and the women getting disgusting harassment

In any pro Amber Heard tiktok video you'll see the exact same comments:

"I think she did bad things but johnny isn't an angel either"

"The abuser and victim dynamic is not always black and white"

"They both abused each other, but the media treatment of her was horrible!!"

And I'd just like to say that most of you, if you were in Amber Heard's situation - being abused by a man double your age and weight, with way more money and way more power, being DRUGGED by him... you would be Amber Heard. You would end up fighting back, but even the support of domestic violence experts who have spent DECADES in their field of work would not save you. Because even when domestic violence experts spoke out in support of Amber, you and countless others continue to perpetuate victim blaming myths months later. A previous verdict in which a high court judge had already ruled that your partner had beat you on multiple occasions would not save you from the vitriol of a society who punishes women/victims who choose to use their voice. Almost all of society would come together and mock you and traumatise you whilst cheering on your abuser. And it's a tough pill to swallow because you don't wanna believe that you're wrong and that society is genuinely that evil to women, to survivors. You don't want to believe that mutual abuse is a myth and that the memes you shared of her and the tiktoks that mocked her rape testimony that you indulged in is actually evidence of a society that lacks any kind of empathy. You participated and continue to participate in the vilification of the abused. You do not hold a moral high ground for "seeing things differently", you're actually just as awful as abusers and their apologists. Because you're an enabler.

I suggest reading up on this topic and case in detail before making comment or remain silent on something you are uneducated on. The harmful rhetoric you continue to spread is destroying lives whilst simultaneously empowering abusers.

National feminist organizations break their silence on Amber Heard in an open letter of support

The letter denounces the “rising misuse” of defamation lawsuits to silence people who report domestic and sexual abuse.

More than 130 people, including Gloria Steinem, and organizations in the field of women’s rights advocacy and domestic violence and sexual assault awareness have signed an open letter to support Amber Heard, who lost a defamation suit this year brought by her ex-husband, Johnny Depp, for an op-ed in which she said she was a “public figure representing domestic abuse.”

The letter, which was exclusively shared with NBC News ahead of its public release Wednesday, was signed by groups like the National Organization for Women, the National Women’s Law Center, Equality Now and the Women’s March Foundation. It was written by a group of people who identify as domestic violence survivors and supporters of Heard.
