Listen to the Big Hormone Enneagram Podcast. This episode covers how we are blind to ourselves and thus struggle with typing ourselves correctly, and then gets into type 6 and Japan as 6 culture.
6 is the most confusing type because of its pendulous nature. Here is an summary of how it appears within a tritype with each gut fix.
Type 6 is notoriously difficult for people to catch as an energy in themselves. The main reason is because the structure of the type is buil

Linda Ertmer was very loved. She was an amazing woman and mother. She was compassionate, kind and the most empathetic person, never hesitating to help those in need. Her smile would light up a room, and she shined the brightest when helping others.
We want to do our best in honoring Linda's wishes, which includes being cremated and spreading her ashes in the Clackamas River and Pacific Ocean. Please help us in honoring Linda's memory. We need help covering funeral and memorial service expenses. Danny and I very much appreciate it.
Note: I'll probably edit and add to this as we get more information from the funeral home and are more prepared to make arrangements.

I love you and miss you so much, Linda/Mom. You meant the world to Danny. Thank you so much for everything. Thank you for your kindness, generosity and love. The world is a lot less bright without you in it

This is a must read, especially if you self type as a 4 or know others who do.

Carnival Row is a love story between two 6w5s. It's a good example of a show with overarching so/sp themes, similar to Game of Thrones and Fantastic Beasts. This show has an so/sp approach to sex. Everything is about inter species sex or from different classes.

Why Anne from Anne With an E is not a 4.
I've been watching Anne with an E and I can't believe that anyone (funkymbti) has her typed as 4 sx/sp. She's overly positive, idealistic, optimistic and reframes everything to be positive. She cares about belonging and connection and being understood. 4s are highly negative, self absorbed, alien, even with a 7 fix, even healthy 4s. Most of the population are at unhealthy to average levels anyway. She also cares about rules, which is a superego indication. I'd say she's 9w1, possibly 7 and 2 fixes, triple positive triad. I'm still deciding on her tritype, but that's my impression. She might also have a 6 fix. She's probably social dom, because she focuses on relationships, fitting in, inclusion and connection. Sexual dom is all about getting ahead of the sexual competition, peacocking, attraction, repulsion. She's also trying to include others and gives space for them. Very 9. Another swerve away from 4 is on the first episode of season 3, upon being complimented on her hair, she replies that she likes it more now that she was complimented. She wants to know the tribe's word for family, another example of wanting to belong. A quote from Anne: "It's funny how people are so quick at pointing out differences, but there's so many ways we're all alike." 9999999! She's always saying how just she loves everything and is so enthusiastic, empathetic and caring. Positive outlook, very not 4. Actual 4s focus on the negative, enjoy being alone and would not describe themselves as naturally empathetic. Anne is constantly smiling and happy, especially when she's with her friends.
Many 9s and 6s are redefining what it means to actually be a 4. I shared a link earlier about this topic. 9s and 6s are far more common as well, just like sensors in mbti. 8,1,5,and 4 are the rarest. Most enneagram teachers I've spoken with have only met a handful of each, so it's understandable why there isn't a clear depiction of what they look like.
Here is a link to enneagrammer's type 4 description. You'll see that they emphasize 4s being negative, focused on their own feelings, not wanting to be understood or fit in. https://www.enneagrammer.com/type-4
