Which farther continued the year long war with the British pushing it on for 5 more year. 1781 the U.S. with the help of the French finally put an end to the war in Yorktown. Pikes Peak is where Katharine Lee Bates wrote the poem America the Beautiful on July 22, 1893. The poem was later put to the tune we know today and was the second candidate for the national anthem. (at Pikes Peak Summit 14,110 Ft.)

Today I went to the top of Pikes Peak near Colorado Springs, Colorado with my grandfather. It's elevation is a little over 14,100 ft.
