he has me greatly enamored
im sorry but i feel like you all misunderstand samira mohan fundamentally as a character
yes she is so incredibly empathetic and mindful with her patients and she puts so much energy into them but that doesnāt leave her any energy for herself to make relationships outside of her work as a doctor. that is why she is burning out, that is why she doesnāt stand up for herself OR her coworkers, that is why she wasnāt in the end credits scene with mel and santos, that is why she was standing alone in BOTH finales.
it makes her unprofessionally attached to patients. for example her wishy washy behavior about preparing joyce for intubation, her spinning out in-front of orlandoās wife.
it makes her detached with everyone around her, including her mom. she doesnāt stand up for santos when langdon is yelling at her and we are given the impression that besides that one time samira didnāt talk with her further about it.
one of the times we see her build something on any kind of positive emotional level was when whitaker was crashing out a bit over losing another patient, but it was also for herself, and also maybe because she saw him as a patient in that moment.
samira mohan is a beautiful character but she is flawed like the rest of them. she is so deeply empathetic and involved in her patients that she has no room for a personal life. samira mohan is selfish and you have to accept that as part of her character because it is a direct result of her being so caring with her patients. that is the point of her character.
insane cinematography actually
The fight between Robby and Al-Hashimi is so upsetting because unlike Robby and Langdon Al-Hashimi is responsible. After her first seizure she made an appointment to see her doctor and when a second seizure occurred before she could talk to them she went directly to the neurology department where she was cleared to work! Robby didn't do anything close to that when he was experiencing ptsd flashbacks throughout season one nor did he inform anyone of the extent of Langdon's drug abuse. So for him to act as a person of integrity and authority demanding Al-Hashimi what quit her job because she has a chronic condition which she is actively managing is beyond ridiculous and patronizing.
just started my s2 rewatch and Iām really floored at Al Hashimi in e1 vs 15. sheās at work early, she brought in bagels, sheās working with the residents and trying so hard to make the best first impression she can
it was easy to read as over eager before we really knew her, but especially with what was revealed with her seizure disorder and how difficult the day was for her, that final scene of her breaking is just awful. such a visceral āhow much more do I need to do to prove myselfā
just watch pitt finale. nobody talk to me. Actually everybody talk to me letās talk about this
so the project hail mary ground team probably had communication with the ship for a little bit before it traveled out of range, right?
iām talking video feed, microphone, and remote access to the care robot.
stratt watched the ISS crew assist yao and ilyukhina and a sedated grace prepare for their induced coma. she heard ilyukhina make a joke about waking up the most well rested sheās ever been in her life. she watched yao shake hands with the crew captain and thank them for their help. she watched the fate of humanity drift off to sleep, watched as the ISS crew wrote āgood luck!ā on the sleep pods, watched the hail mary detach from the ISS.
stratt checked the feeds almost obsessively. she would pull up the cameras and tap into the microphone, even though she saw no movement and heard no sound. she scrolled through health reports that she couldnāt understand. it became part of her routine. despite all her bravado, all her efforts to remain distant and detached, these people had become her friends.
and she had betrayed them all, in some way. grace most of all, yes, she had forced him on a mission he didnāt want to go on, had signed his life away to the stars for the sake of a dying star and a suffering planet, but she had also betrayed yao and ilyukhina, sending them on a mission without knowing that grace had said no. a lie of omission, but a lie nonetheless.
once the ship had cleared the requisite distance from the ISS and any satellites, the astrophage engines kicked on. the speed increased and with it the distance, which eventually led to delays in communication with the ship. the reports began to slow, delayed by a few hours, then days, then weeks. the video feed became glitchy before going dark. the mic feedback was nothing but static.
the hail mary became a ghost ā something that was there but could not be seen or reached.
but perhaps most haunting of all was the last report ground control was able to receive:

ILYUKHINA - DECEASED
GRACE - ALIVE; Vitals: WNL
For those saying Rocky's character was infantilised in the film, don't forget that he may be a 291 year old genius alien, but his speech is being translated by a middle school science teacher with more important things on his mind than specific and accurate translation.
Grace optimised his software for speed and ease of understanding.
Rocky may be saying, "these lodgings doth be squalid", and Grace's translation software spits out, "dirty, dirty, dirty"!
Which, to be honest, works for me.
@slightly-obsessed sorry tumblr doesn't let you rb with videos and I needed to pull the clip to accompany this because wow crazy work!!!
Grace Rocky save stars :)
AI has made the internet so much less fun. I don't want to question whether a photo of a bunny is real. I don't want to worry about someone making a deepfake just because I posted a pic with my friends. I want to read a recipe and know that the photo is a real cake they made. Yes I know I need to touch grass but also I think I should be allowed to interact online without second-guessing whether someone fabricated every image for personal gain
"and the universe said i love you."
Project Hail Mary (2026) + Tumblr text posts
go watch (and read) project hail mary right now. this instant. go go go . go. go.
I like the rock.
Still thinking about how Grace was always treated as disposable. Kicked out of his passion field for his honestyāunderpaid as a (very good) teacher, to the point he canāt afford a carāleft alone in a room full of argon with a sample that might kill him, while all the indispensable guys who put him there stood on the other side of the glass and watched. Shoved screaming into a mission that would kill him. And then, then this bonkers little alien who just met him gladly trades years off his life (via extended return mission) to save him. Runs burning through deadly air to keep him from dying. Chooses finally to weave their lives together forever and recreate Graceās best dreams of Earth to make him happy. No wonder Grace told Rocky he doesnāt have to get him a gift, heās given him everything. To one little spider guy, Grace is irreplaceable. Thatās love.
hottest fucking thing one can read, really (x)
