im sorry but i feel like you all misunderstand samira mohan fundamentally as a character
yes she is so incredibly empathetic and mindful with her patients and she puts so much energy into them but that doesn’t leave her any energy for herself to make relationships outside of her work as a doctor. that is why she is burning out, that is why she doesn’t stand up for herself OR her coworkers, that is why she wasn’t in the end credits scene with mel and santos, that is why she was standing alone in BOTH finales.
it makes her unprofessionally attached to patients. for example her wishy washy behavior about preparing joyce for intubation, her spinning out in-front of orlando’s wife.
it makes her detached with everyone around her, including her mom. she doesn’t stand up for santos when langdon is yelling at her and we are given the impression that besides that one time samira didn’t talk with her further about it.
one of the times we see her build something on any kind of positive emotional level was when whitaker was crashing out a bit over losing another patient, but it was also for herself, and also maybe because she saw him as a patient in that moment.
samira mohan is a beautiful character but she is flawed like the rest of them. she is so deeply empathetic and involved in her patients that she has no room for a personal life. samira mohan is selfish and you have to accept that as part of her character because it is a direct result of her being so caring with her patients. that is the point of her character.
