Picking up a few books on nekojins she’d seen in the corner of her eye, placing them under her arm, lips pucker hearing yet another unsatisfying answer. “Nn, I really want to know about your super top secret mission, Haya” she hums, ears folding down knowing that he would keep his lips sealed about it. Not that she blamed him. It wouldn’t keep her from trying though, she wanted to squeeze it out of him. 

“Right? It’s hard since I’d think that not many adventurers would be able to make records on them…” she sighs, her fingers tapping at several spines. “Oh? You found one?” she hums as she leans against his shoulder to see the battered leather bound cover. “It looks pretty old…” she points out, her tail wagging and wrapping around his waist as she tilts her head in curiosity. She peered back on the shelf where he found the book. Looking around the gap that the book made, Kyu couldn’t see any other books like it only ones that seemed to have vague references. “Hmm” she looks up at the man. “It looks like we’ve lucked out.”

“I know you do. But I promised my guild leader that I wouldn’t reveal too much if I asked for help. I am truly sorry, I cannot break my loyalty to him,” Hayashi hummed as he was opening the book and then softened, “You see, he sort of saved me in a way. I was just a poor boy in a town that did not care whether I lived or died in the streets. Sorey-san, my leader, actually took me in and asked me to join him and his party…they are like my family,”

Hayashi paused for a moment, as he then stiffened. Someone was watching them. The blue haired male then looked over for a moment, scanning the room with caution. He saw the librarian, who was pushing her cart of books to stack somewhere. There wasn’t much people in here considering that it was a nice day out. Pursing his lips, he faced back to her and then murmured, “Let’s grab this and what you’ve gotten and get out of here,” He gave a look that showed that they had to hurry. That something was about to happen and Hayashi had to be prepared for it. If this was a sneak attack, he was going to have to be one step ahead.

It sounded like he had a lot to owe to this Sorey person, amber eyes slowly blinked as she took Hayashi in, him revealing a small bit about himself in that moment. Still, a monotone hum came out of her. “I guess I can understand that,” Kyu says, but she was still pouting beside him as she grabbed onto his arm, her body pressed against him. He was unmovably loyal. It was a cute feature. She feared if she commented on him he may start crying again from being overwhelmed. But, it was still so cute.

Ears lifted feeling the other’s body tense beside hers. Her eyebrows furrowed. She didn’t hear much of anything out of the ordinary. But, his need to hurry made her think that something was wrong. “Okay!” she smiles giving an affirmative nod, as she holds the books in front of her. Looping her arm around his, Kyu pulled him so that they could make a beeline outside.

Her ears raised. “Laws? Like legal things between humans and beastkin? Hmm, more than likely.” It was a strange topic for him to be interested in. She didn’t even hold too much information on laws made for the two beings to coexist. “Will you tell me why you have an interest in such laws at least?” She hums looking up at him.

“Yes dragons and dragonborns are rare, so hopefully there won’t be that much of a selection. Though nekojins is a pretty broad subject” she sighs against him. Kyu holds on to his hand, as she guides him through the library, through aisles and aisles of parchment and books, to where bounded pages that held information on many different kinds of beasts. “Dragonborns… dragonborns…” she mutters as she stares at spines. “Are you going to go look fora dragonborn or something?” She asks still attempting to guess what it was he was planning on doing with all of this information.

“Yes,” Hayashi nodded his head, as he was feeling her pulling towards the shelves that were alphabetical, and looked around some. What could he say though to explain his interest? How much could he tell? Certainly he knew that he could say probably things that won’t link back to his leader, and Hayashi was a terrible liar anyways.

“I suspect it would be hard to find about dragonborns considering their rarity,” From what he remembered, centuries ago dragons were flourishing the land, and considered the highest form of beastkins out there. Almost royalty in fact. But as time went on, there was a shortage of their kind for many reasons. And there are only a few clans of Dragonborns out there, most of them in hiding from the world. “Somewhat?….It’s information for my mission,” That was all he could say, smiling weakly as he then looked at the shelf once more and caught sight of a book sticking out. “What’s this…” It was a book of dragonborns.

“Oh my” she giggles her fingers touching her lips. He was like a kid sometimes. Crying while being embarrassed… Perhaps she went a little too far. Ah, she couldn’t help it… she wanted to see his reactions more. Kyu watched as he began to pull himself together. “Okay!” the fox gives a nod as she trails after him, taking his arm. 

“Over the years, apparently, many people would donate their books here. Travelers, merchants, and the like. So, it has all types of books and scrolls on different subjects.  Dragonborn and nekojins…. it would be with species or maybe history or archives?” she tilts her head to the side. “It’ll be a while look through…” she lets out a deep sigh.

“Ah that right?” This got Hayashi thinking for a moment. Well three branches narrows it down he supposed. But there was something that itched his mind as he then asked unconsciously, “Are their articles that have changes of laws between humans and beastkin?” He then paused for a moment, then glanced over at the woman. Ah, she was part beastkin in a way right?

“A-anyways, perhaps starting with species might help narrow things down,” He looked up to the library for a moment as they were standing in front of it, then stepped inside. Once in, he was a bit surprised. There…were a lot of bookshelves. It was almost as big as a castle. ‘It indeed is going to take forever,‘ He thought with a sigh.

Kyu strolled along the roofs, the white fox had no particular destination in mind. It was a low roof, so she was sure she could make such a leap. Her paws pressed against the roof tiles and her hind raised up in preparation to pounce. In one moment she glided through the air, and in the next second, she was falling. The distance was much farther than what she thought; by a few inches at least. The fox plopped on someone’s head, sliding down to the stranger’s shoulder. Better that than the hard ground. She probably wouldn’t get that hurt, but she’d like to avoid testing out such theories… A soft sigh came out of her mouth as her tails wrapped around the person’s neck for balance.

Ahhhh, at last! The white haired male had escaped his overbearing mother hen of a guard and the quiet and no so helper guard number two. He loved his friends, seriously, he does! But Zen wished that he could have a bit more privacy and freedom. It wasn’t like he was gonna be all of a sudden attacked— “Oh!” He yelped as he felt something land on his head then onto his shoulder, and, with reflex, opened his arms up when something…soft, landed into them. “Why…hello there,” Blue eyes looked down at equally big eyes, as the young man chuckled, “Aren’t you a cutie,” He murmured, as he looked up at where the creature fell from and blinked, “Wow, you were up high huh? You better be careful little fella,”

She had unintentionally slid into the stranger’s arms. Her ears raised as she glanced upwards at the man that had ended up catching her. “Thank you, but I’m not a boy... Although you are awfully cute yourself” she said, Kyu’s light airy voice coming from her small body, her tails wagging as she let out a relieved sigh, his compliments would be enough to make her tails wag faster. “Thank you for catching me. This smaller form of mine is much easier to be hiding or sneaking around in rather than things like running or jumping” her ears folded downwards at the thought, eyes slowly blinking her head tilting upwards to where she had once been.

“Pfft” a grin spreads across her lips as she watches the other bow before breaking out into laughter altogether. “You should really consider retiring the coat” she comments.

“Yes, we are, but I’ve been having a craving for it here recently though,” Kyu says with a tilt of her head, her head pressing against him. “I’ll still make what you want, of course,” she says with a shrug.

“Hm? Even if it’s for something temporary? Being a man is okay some of the times” she tilts her head back. She gave a heavy sigh her cheeks poking out “Fine… It’s not like I would do something like that when it’s just the two of us anyway.” 

“Not happening, nope. This is the sacred armor of the samurai of ice, I’ll be dying in this thing and only taking it off for bathing.”

He slipped the edge in between his thumb and index finger, sending a nice ripple out to flourish the coat. Though still visibly exhausted, there was a hint of pride on his face.

“Yes, and don’t forget that it’s gotta be Kraft. The meat brand doesn’t matter, Oscar Meyer, Hebrew National, whatever we find.”

“I’d hope to god not…”

“Mmm, it is everything, but sacred...” Kyu says with a shake of her head. “Mm, maybe I should burn it before it’s too late...” she contemplates pursing her lips.

“Nn” Kyu stared at her Master, visibly unimpressed, he just looked so worn out... On top of all that, and more importantly, she really wanted to find him some new clothes. He was stubborn. A look of discouragement went to her face before giving in, a heavy sigh coming out of her. “You eat nothing but terrible things...” she whispers under her breath. But, of course, she would oblige. “Right, right!” she exclaims as she finds the appropriate ingredients, specifically getting a Kraft’s box of macaroni and cheese.

“It’s just?~” she repeats with a grin. His face was just getting redder… It was impressive! 

A look of shock passed by her face, her eyebrows raising. “Pfft” the fox held in her laugh. It was such an unexpected reaction! “You’ve just took down a whole tavern of mercenaries and now you’re completely embarrassed!” she laughs “Yes, I was~” she laughed harder as he covered his face, her hand raised up to pat his head. “You’re quite the charmer yourself!” It had been awhile to have such a fun time. “Such a reaction is nice” she shakes her head. An honest one he was. “If you want I’ll let you pet me later! Or I can cuddle with you later to make it up to you,” she rubs his head. 

“I-It’s just…you’re very soft. A-and smell nice,” What, he can’t help but be honest!

Sniffling, he felt the woman patting his head, despite being slightly taller than him. Trying to hold back the tears once more, he sniffled. “U-Um, sorry…t-that’s not necessary. I just…give me a minute,” The blue haired male murmured, getting his composure together. Once he was straightened up, he then smiled a little, “Er, um, w-well I’m okay now…let’s go inside,” He gestured to the library and soon was leading the woman inside. It…was larger than he thought it would be. It might take a while to find what he was looking for. “Huh…” He murmured, “A lot books are here huh?”

“Oh, I see.” Dragonborn and nekojins were a strange combination to be studying. Dragonborns especially. She let out a long hum, in deep thoughts. But, why hybrids of them? 

“Yes, Hayashi?” Kyu responds with, a sly grin on her face, her ears raising up before looking up at him. “Ah-ha! Your face is red again. You’re so cute~” she grins, giddy. “Do you dislike this kind of thing?” the vixen questions getting up on her toes to get closer to his face. “Does this not feel comfortable for you? Soft enough?” Her hands clapped “I find that it feels nice up against you like this.” Although she soon lowered, her hold on him dropping; if he intended to do research then it would be best if she stayed cuddled up to him, though she was reluctant in doing so. 

“I-It’s not like I-I dislike it, M-Miss Kyu it’s just—” Soft. so so soft. Somehow feeling her chest pressed against his arm made his face feel all warm. Oh god, was he going to faint?

She smelt so nice, she was really kind helping him like this and giving those big eyes at him…gawd, why won’t his face calm down?! He pursed his lips and felt himself almost tear up for a moment as he then whined, “M-Miss Kyu, y-you’re teasing me aren’t you???” He murmured as he then wanted to raise his hands and hide his face. God, he can’t focus at the moment. He was crying wasn’t he? Oh god, that’s embarrassing. “S-sorry, I’m sorry I just…w-when a beautiful woman like you are so close…a-and being so…blunt like that…”

After all, she had her fair use of violence, by her simply observing or being caused by her own hands. “I suppose there is a time and a place for everything.” 

Her tails curl around him, leaning closer to him. Kyu gave a nod “It’s close enough.” She tilts her head. “Hybrids? You mean like human and demon hybrids? And elders? What kind of elders? What kind of tribes?” she questions with a soft frown. She points in the direction where the library was so that they could quickly duck in. 

As they were walking closer to where the library was, and then pursed his lips. He was too close to revealing what was his purpose. Sighing, he softened and smiled weakly at her, “Elders that might know the origins of their people. Tribes such as nekojins and…dragonborns,” He hummed and then looked up at the building before him. Was this the library?

He then blushed brightly as he felt the tails wrapped around him and looked at Kyu in surprise, but then breathed out, “U-uh, Miss Kyu?” She was so warm against him. It was kinda making him feel hot in the face, so much that his ears were turning red almost with a bit of his neck. He was always one to easily blush, what with his pale skin.

“Ah” she lets out a breath when he slipped away from her grasp, and in little to no time, there was a man sprawled out on the floor. “You really gave them a time. It looks like quite a bit of trouble has been invited” she hums as she glanced down at the knocked out body then up to Hayashi. He’d probably be able to handle it. “Probably.” He had such an adorable expression, looks were surprising. Her sleeves raised up to cover her mouth, eyes wide and blinking. “You’re really full of surprises,” Kyu says behind her sleeve. Her tails wag. “Perhaps we should go before we draw too much attention” she points out, leaning forward, humming as passersby were looking their way. “To the library, right? It is important after all” she stretches her hand out towards him.

“R-right, we should get going,” Hayashi nodded his head as he took her hand without hesitation and started walking fast out of there before anyone could see them. Wouldn’t do good if soldiers would grab at them.

“I’m sorry you had to see that side of me. I do not like using violence honestly,” If anything, Hayashi was more of a pacifist that was pretty sensitive. He had cried one time when his party were fishing and had to kill said fishes for dinner. It took maybe some of the women of his party and his own master to comfort him and explain it was for survival. It was also sort of why Hayashi was a vegetarian. But enough of that— “A-anyways, the library, is it close by?” The blue haired knight asked as they were walking together calmly since they were being chased, “Again, I have to find a certain scroll there. It happens to be about the origins of hybrids,” He looked quiet after that, looking thoughtful. “And possibly where to find certain elders from certain tribes,”

Those are chivalrous words despite you having such a cute look on your face, Hayashi” she giggles covering her mouth. “Okay, I’ll wait for you here, then” she nods taking a step back, her grip releasing, her hands going behind her back. She wondered if she could keep him blushing like this. 

Ears twitched several times hearing confrontation, running and shouting. Before she had the mind to peer into the tavern, the doors swung open once more, her blue knight walking out. “Mm” her ears raised up, unlike before the place had fallen silent. “Already?” Her eyebrows lifted. What exactly did he do? He wasn’t just some ordinary traveler… “Are you a mercenary or something? Or an assassin?” she guesses her finger going to her chin. Her tails sway before she inches closer to him, a couple of them curving close to his back, she takes his arm once more. “I don’t mind showing you to the library~.”

“Yes, already. Er, they were…cooperative after I had to explain that it was an emergency,” Hayashi smiled warmly as if he wasn’t just fighting some guys in the tavern. But she doesn’t need to know that. “And…I’m a knight. I just a no-nosense type of person that is in a rush…in a sense,” The blue haired male shrugged, giving a sweet smile.

“Yes! We should get going!” He laughed but then froze for a moment, then raised a finger up, “Just…one second,” He smiled a little as he turned in time, ducking a punch from some ruffian that was coming out from the tavern, looking ragged and beaten up, and Hayashi was crouching down and kicking under the man’s legs and quickly subdued him by sitting on him and twisting his arms behind his back. “YOU bastard! Wait ‘til the boss finds out—“ The man didn’t have a change as Hayashi calmly knocked him out using a finger to his neck, and sighed. “Honestly…this could’ve been settled peacefully,” He was getting up and looked to Kyu and blushed, “Er…”

Lips purse at the other’s apology. There were simply so many secrets and mystery around him, she didn’t know what to think about it. It wasn’t like she could hold it against him; secrets were secrets. “Hnn… fiiine” she breathes out in reluctance. The fact that his party wanted everything to be lowkey must have meant it was important. It sounded like it to her. So he was looking for something… “I see” she nods closing her eyes.  

“Really, you are quite welcome. I guess you could say I simply enjoy being a good Samaritan,” Kyu says. “Besides I don’t mind helping someone like you, you seem good-natured and cute. I wouldn’t mind keeping you for myself,” she remarks all too casually as she stops in front of the tavern doors; it was too bad he had a party relying on him. Her raven ears raised an inch, it was noisy even from where she was standing. “Shall I stay by you while you’re trying to find this mystery person? Unless you would like me to stay here?”

“I am sorry that I cannot reveal much,” Hayashi said solemnly, giving a weak smile. Soon he looked up at the tavern for a moment then glanced at her, “Perhaps it would be best for now that you stay out here. I…do not want you to be hurt,” He said, concern laced in his eyes. Although he was still blushing from the whole ‘keeping you for myself‘ part. Turning back to the door, he moved away from her and then said with a kind smile, “I shall return momentarily. And soon was walking inside.

“Done,” He came out a few minutes later, having a smile on his face. Even though earlier you could hear commotion happening inside, like some sort of fight then shrilled screaming. Although Hayashi looked calm as if nothing happened. “We need to head to a library but I do not know where that is around here. Apparently I have to look for a scroll for my mission,” Document work. At least that’s better and not too draining.

“It’s fine, I don’t mind with a bit of mystery around a man” she shrugs. “Ah? Those are chivalrous words despite you having such a cute look on your face, Hayashi” she giggles covering her mouth. “Okay, I’ll wait for you here, then” she nods taking a step back, her grip releasing, her hands going behind her back. She wondered if she could keep him blushing like this. 

Ears twitched several times hearing confrontation, running and shouting. Before she had the mind to peer into the tavern, the doors swung open once more, her blue knight walking out. “Mm” her ears raised up, unlike before the place had fallen silent. “Already?” Her eyebrows lifted. What exactly did he do? He wasn’t just some ordinary traveler... “Are you a mercenary or something? Or an assassin?” she guesses her finger going to her chin. Her tails sway before she inches closer to him, a couple of them curving close to his back, she takes his arm once more. “I don’t mind showing you to the library~.”

“A tavern; who is it that you’re looking for?” she raises her eyebrows, leaning against him. “It sounds awfully interesting since you’re being so vague” Kyu pouts with puffed out cheeks as she tightens her grip on his arm. “Well taverns are a great place to relax and exchange information” she chuckles. “Hmm,” Kyu thinks for a few seconds, pondering the question “I find that having information is valuable. It’s just nice to be included in the loop so to say. Many interesting people approach me, such as yourself” she smiles. “I guess it’s more of a hobby rather than a job. It’s helpful when I am bored.”

They passed through the market place, her tails relaxing closer to the ground. “Mercenaries though…” she hums in thought. Perhaps she would be sticking around for a bit longer. It should be fun. “Are you planning on hiring them or something of that nature?”

The blue haired male stared at her for a moment. Well, he was being vague for a reason. But seeing her cutely acting childish, he felt his face flush. Gah, why was she so beautifully cute? Honestly, he didn’t know how to react. Instead, he just smiled sheepishly, giving a shrug, “W-well, I mean. I’m real sorry but I can’t reveal too much since I know that my party wants this to be as lowkey as possible,” And that was the truth, “There is this one mercenary that knows something that I am looking for is all. Then once I get the information from him, I will go to my next destination,” He explained softly as Hayashi was then feeling her pressing more against him. Oh boy.

“I’m not hiring them,” He said honestly, and then looked up at the tavern that was close by them. It seems that this was going to be the place. Looking back at Kyu, he smiled a little, “Anyways, I really should thank you for helping me anyways. A complete stranger like me,”

“Ah” she sighs placing her hand on her cheek. He really was quite adorable, wasn’t he? “Information hunting? Well, you have definitely come to the right person” she says placing her hand on her chest. “Lots of connections” she spins her fingers. It was more accurate in that she could get quite a bit of information with her silver tongue and fast hands; it helped that she kept her ears to the ground as well. 

“If you wish to know something then I can find it out for you. I would gladly be of assistance” her eyes narrow in curiosity. “I can show you places, but I’m curious as to where are these places that you need to be” she raises her eyebrows. But, he was in a party, meaning that there were other people that he was affiliated with; she couldn’t help but wonder what it was he did while traveling. “Hmm, perhaps you’re doing some interesting work? Or maybe it’s very sketchy… Have I attracted a rogue, I wonder?” she muses, her questioning veiled as a joke. 

“Oh! Thank goodness then,” The blue haired male laughed softly, smiling. Whew, if he had the wrong person, that would’ve been embarrassing, now wouldn’t it? Either way, this would be a step closer to his mission. Looking at the woman again, he blinked at her gesture and felt his cheeks flush, “O-Oh, well I’m glad. This makes this much easier on me h-huh?” He said cheerfully, eyes averting upwards to the sky.

“That would be great Miss Kyu. Actually, the first stop I needed to go was a tavern. It…for some reason that’s usually a place of central hub for mercenaries. I’m looking for a certain one,” He hummed, then laughed, “It’s…not that interesting. Just helping on a quest for my party,” It wasn’t a total lie, but telling her what the mission was could be…dangerous. Especially when enemies could be listening in. “A-anyways, er, so do you do information gathering and helping people as a guide your job really?” He asked curiously.

She grins watching the man fidget a bit, her finger twirling in her hair. The woman held in yet another laugh her hand covering her mouth watching as he began to turn red again. “Just Kyu is fine!” the vixen says with a wave of her hand. “It’s not like it’s that much of a waste of time. Well, if you’d feel bad about it…” Kyu trails off with a tilt of her head, one of her ears raising up. “Mm, that sounds fine,” she says with a satisfied nod, her tails wagging gingerly. “So, you’re new around here. Are you just passing through, or do you have some kind of specific reason?” Kyu asks as she begins to pull him by the arm, taking him into the streets.

“Alright, Kyu…” Hayashi gave a boyish smile once more as they started walking, and then hummed as he was asked. That was a typical question, considering he was new. He had to think of carefully of what to say. According to Master Sorey, he didn’t want just anyone to know the purpose of their journey. Hayashi wasn’t one for lying, but he couldn’t reveal what was the endgame. So bending a bit of the truth would be fine. “Actually, I’m here mostly for information hunting. Kinda like a scout for my party actually,” He explained kindly, “It’s kinda why I need a guide. Need to find a person that knows this city at the back of their hand to get me to the places I need to be,”

“Hahaha” An airy giggle escaped out of the woman seeing the other’s flustered state. It looks like she’s met an innocent one. “How cute. Come now, don’t get so red so easily, I just wanted to tease you a little” Kyu’s eyebrows raise, holding in another laugh, her shoulders shaking. 

Her head tilts to the side hearing him out, her hand on her chest “A traveler?” she repeats. “You heard something like that…” well, it was true enough that she knew her way around the town. Amber eyes glanced upwards in thought, she wasn’t doing anything at the moment, she wanted something to do, honestly. Plus, he was cute. She shrugged. “Hayashi, my name is Kyu,” she says as she takes his arm “There is no need for you to pay me in coins. Just having your company would be more than enough. We can get to know each other like this too, right?”  

The blue haired male stopped his stuttering as soon as he heard the laughter. Which, in his opinion, sounded like an angel’s. Hayashi blushed at the thought. Here was a beautiful woman in front of him and he was acting like some sort of doof. Some knight in training he was. Either way, he was relieved.

“A-ah, tease..right,” He nodded, as he was rubbing the side of his neck, a tic that showed he was sheepish and nervous. He then blinked as she accepted his request and was smiling, “Oh! Thank you so much Miss Kyu, I appreciate it a lot—” And then…the woman was wrapping her arms around his own and was so so close his pale cheeks were turning rosy again. She smells nice, he thought dreamily, but then was snapping out of it and coughed, “I-if you’re sure. Although I sort of feel bad that I’m wasting your time like this. Er, if you like, if you could find a place that is good to eat, I could treat you,” He said with a kind smile, tilting his head.
