NOTE: I removed the link to see if it will get more attention, so you will have to copy and paste it into your browser, not tap it, (this is because Tumblr killed links, and they won’t show up in search results). 

The SESTA/FOSTA laws are in DIRECT violation of our first amendment rights, the right to freedom of speech and press. They are trying to reverse DECADES of hard and meticulous work to reclaim people’s sexuality, and on top of that, while it looks like it’s going to crack down on sex-trafficking, it’s not. It’s working on actively oppressing and erasing sex workers, who get paid for consensual sex/sexual acts/images/depictions. This doesn’t just hurt sex workers, though, it also hurts artists, (not just erotica artists, either, artists who use artistic nudity are also hurt by this), authors, and even LGBT/Queer people. 

That’s right, this even hurts LGBT people. Why? Because so many people already believe/feel that same-sex/queer relationships are inherently sexual, (which they’re not). You think what Tumblr did with lesbian censorship was bad? Think about what everyone else is going to do once they start putting these laws into action. I believe that this could even have the potential to remove porn sites from the internet, too, because once they start with normal social media, they’ll probably crack down on other ‘issues’, too. 

We need to repeal these laws because they will do more harm than good. They will make it harder to find victims of sex-trafficking because most of them are found online. They aren’t even trying to crack down on sex trafficking. These laws are all about censorship. 

With the petition above, we need 99,999 signatures before January 9th to get attention from the White House. Make this happen! Spread this around, and help get these laws repealed.
