This was the process for doing the thingy!
I learned how to paint proper!
Sort of. If she just came from a bad tanning booth. Maybe this is what mermaid skin actually looks like, you don’t know!
Learning about painting.
I knew I wouldn’t remember these steps later, so I made a guide!
This is an onna-bugeisha (”female martial artist”) armed with a naginata (”long stabby stabby thing that makes you go oww!”).
She has a kind smile.
Learning about gesture drawing.
Notice how I aced the belly button? Belly button savant over here.
Learning about facial features.
Learning about proportions and stuff.
I’m starting to think humans are way too unnecessarily complex. What were they thinking when they made us?
To be fair, belly buttons are kinda fun though.
Trying to expand past pixel art. Let’s start with some heads!
Overworld pixel painting. Amazed at how much faster this goes with brushes.
Based on Mort’s brush tutorial at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tzstGHNN48w
This is Shelter. His brother is called Mansion because he has two chimneys. Shelter is okay with only having one chimney.
O.C. by @parreira
I’m really proud of this one. I’ve always found long sinuous hair to be quite strikingly beautiful. It was a delight to portray.
Pan!
Not feeling it today.
This isn’t the first time I’ve made code, or the first time I’ve made art. But it is the first time I’ve coded my own art. Very happy.
This one marks the very last lesson on this amazing course by Marco Vale. I still have a couple of exercises to go, but this is it for lessons. I enjoyed every minute of it and learned so much!
