You Still Could Lose Your Heart
Piles of sunlight keeping parking in your front yard— they tear out their eyes which are blue with the blueness of flowers which keep their mouths open adorned with evening snacks bluer than lighthouses bluer than exhibitions bluer than the desperate acts on park benches. You peer through sheets of glass in disbelief your peer out from your sheets of cotton nude with joy you want to become the bridge between the two engines that join the tip of your fingers and the tip of the pen you want to kiss the sunlight in your yard with a ridiculous upward motion of a Moscow kiss you want to sit in silence having put all your animals behind you you want to pound on your keyboard. Piles of sunlight park in your front yard, consonants are pronounced at church incessantly and to the breaking point until they spill out of hymnals bubble up from the graves redirect the gazes of parishioners until scientific Marxists can smell them and everything capsizes. With the last leash in existence you walk your dog you seem to feel your heart in your chest the charcoal sidewalks congest the rain and formless fertile mud spills from shooting stars. Piles of sunlight park in your front yard and checkered hair performs the algebra of nightingales on staircases in the shadow of shoemakers’ condominiums as honorable as big business or puberty as sharp as the knife of leisure as blue as the reinforced concrete of defunct periodicals as murderous as cleavage. Piles of sunlight park in your front yard— what is it you’re really looking for? Life is a neurasthenic hoof: it lifts the sky, changes the color of leaves in the fall, shifts the luminescent phase states of jellyfish when it passes over them invisibly or whenever you hang out with your friends. This is part where we stop explaining anything. St Jerome is drunk St Jerome is the human mind.

Sirens wake me.
It is 3.22 am.
A nightgown is caught
in the driver’s side door
of a white car chasing
an ambulance.
Fate followed by a trail
of light; a reminder that
we are, all of us, in transit.
