Shortly after untangling him, we decided it was best to seal up the hole in the No Mercy elevator ceiling on the L4D2 version for the Survivors’ own good.
4 weeks after first infection, the special infected mutations got so much worse than we could’ve imagined.
Guys, guys, new sleep paralysis demon just dropped!
Bonus animated version for the brave (Link may not work correctly on tumblr app)
He almost got away with his mid-crescendo event nap until they heard him snoring.
Three hours in and even with everyone looking, Boomy was kicking ass during today’s hide n’ seek game.
So it wasn’t the tanks that killed him after all... Poor Bill, what a way to go.
Despite their excellent co-ordination, the flippy-floppy voodoo dance failed to bring Zoey back to life.
Man, I hate when customers come under the shutter at closing time!
and... start touching themselves oh god
Spring Cleaning!
“Back on your feet, soldier! You're not getting out of this fight that easily."
Anyone still around? Did we all enjoy The Last Stand Update? Surviving the practice apocalypse well enough I hope? Remember to get your shot when the opportunity arises, it’ll let you temporarily sprint and perform actions faster after all!
Since I had a little new content to post and uh... I guess an evening to kill, I thought I’d finally solve a few things that have been left in limbo on this blog for many years:
All re-run posts, aside from the tiny handful that added new commentary, have been deleted, thus there is no longer any duplicate content when browsing the archives.
The “pre-posed” tag (referring to screenshots containing corpses that are part of the campaign’s scenery and present every time you play) has been renamed “pre posed” so it’s actually browsable (well, when viewing the blog on desktop anyway, tumblr mobile doesn’t care for individual tag browsing on blogs).
All posts that got caught in the adult content filter during tumblr’s purge have been appealed and restored. To think, among many other posts, Smoker’s fabulousness has been concealed for years! This one is another example of a post that was missing - I understand where they were coming from there, it is extremely alluring I think we’ll all agree.
These have been outstanding for so long due to the fact that (due to hyphens breaking tag browsing and appeal notices only consistently showing up in the pop-out dashboard blog view) I had to basically scroll back through the entire blog manually to catch all the posts in need of action! But I did it and have gained a little inner-peace that was not there before.
As mentioned in the tag on yesterday’s post, 2 more posts (not including the one posted just a little bit after this update) remain from this little batch I’m currently posting one-a-day-of. As has been the case for years now, this blog is very quiet but never forgotten - I’ll be sure to post whatever good ragdolls come my way in my occasional L4D games!
Spitty about to wake this guy up in about the most intrusive way imaginable.
Coming Soon: The Last Stand
After almost a decade, Left 4 Dead 2 will be getting an update! I don’t think this is anything to set expectations too high for: the teaser trailer implies that L4D1′s Survival mode-exclusive campaign, The Last Stand, will be finally officially added to L4D2 as an enhanced port developed either in part or in full by the community. But perhaps there’ll be more to it than that, you can already see the map has had a few new structures added in the trailer, including in areas that were originally out-of-bounds to the player.
Survival mode was never my favourite but I always enjoyed a round or two on The Last Stand for completionist’s sake when doing a full playthrough of Left 4 Dead 1. My low-key hope is that this is a gentle kickstart for future Left 4 Dead content/development, as oppose to a final little encore!
The extremely talented voice actor Jim French who brought characters like Bill from Left 4 Dead and Grigori from Half-Life 2 to life sadly passes away.
I know this is out of nowhere as this blog only really updates these days as and when I gather content for it (i.e. whenever I have a nostalgic playthrough Left 4 Dead again) but I thought I should share this as a sign of thankfulness and respect.
Bill was without a doubt one of my favourite Left 4 Dead characters, and of course Jim French’s performance as his voiceover was a colossal part of that. My late best friend Audi and I (and most everyone from our friendship group back in the days that I played regularly) loved Bill, both unironically as the wonderfully flawed but lovable character that Valve wrote, and in a silly manner in which we’d abuse voice commands - or Bill himself as a computer-controlled character - to recharacterise him as a silly confused old man that we had to look after. While that may not have been the intent of his voicework, reinterpreting it all in that context made for hundreds of laughs over the years. I’m sure a lot of players can relate.
Rest in peace Jim French, and thank you for your great work and massive contribution to one of my lifelong favourite games.
Ugh, Louis thinks he’s so cool...
After all these years I don’t know why I still expect the zombies to be able to use furniture in a normal, civilised manner. It’s like they lack higher brain functions or something, honestly.
Um... so what kind of gun does that ammo at the back there go into...?
Alright guys tell the truth what were you two doing up there before you fell through the floor hmmmm?
I know there’s nothing new here, it’s just a comfort to know that pretty much every time I decide to run through the whole of Left 4 Dead for old times’ sake, I’ll encounter Bill’s Condition at least once.
