The idea of hybrid infected has been in the fandom forever. Something I've spent time thinking about that I haven't really seen though, especially since the green flu took a while to start mutating hosts to the extent that it can, is common infected who, like. Aren't quite special infected, but clearly have something weird going on. Mostly just rando commons bunched up with a horde or leaning against the wall in some alley, but there's at least the hint of a partway stage. One that's unusually athletic and is always pulling to the front of the crowd via vaulting obstacles in the way. That one model I keep mistaking for a Wandering Witch.
