Queer unity has been trying as hard as possible to downplay any possible transfem issue. Pay gap adding up to thousands a year? Not a big deal. V coding? Never mention it. You know what IS an important issue? Getting called a fucking birthday boy. They get all hands on deck about it. They will write VERY long posts about how important it is you not use it, and that anyone who does must be punished as severely as possible

There's only one explanation. The lives of trans women are so worthless to them, so fucking disposable, that a trans man getting invalidated is actually more important to them. That's how these people, who demand we view them as family and allies, who think we should be ready to die for them, view us.

It's worth noting that you can be charged with sexual assault as a trans person for not disclosing your trans status in the UK, and they've already convicted a trans woman on those grounds. So not just "trans panic defense" but "trans panic grounds for criminal charges and state violence"

A lot of people will rightly argue that these attitudes don't just show up online, that transmisogyny in queer spaces is a real issue.

The public figure has accurately pointed out that the random transmisogynists on tumblr are not a priority target for real heavy-hitters to take on, because they are not the source of these ideas, and not the ones empowered to make an impact with these ideas. They are downstream of bigger, more important targets.

Transfeminism defined in opposition to a specific, niche manifestation of transmisogyny will inevitably end up ineffective, because it expends a lot of effort fighting a symptom rather than the disease itself.

The right wing is constantly doing vigilante shit and imposing life, interpersonal, economic, and mental consequences on marginalized folks and those who support them for the crime of existing and being oppressed. They’ll publicly lynch 16 year old Black girls, 19 year old trans girls, burn down abortion clinics, shoot up literally anywhere, destroy/damage houses, and so much more.

And we.. protest and maybe do graffiti. Organize to “vote blue no matter who” type bullshit. We don’t even punch Nazis anymore lmfao. A lot of the non-white organizers and activists who became publicly known for stuff like taking down confederate flags, action in 2020, etc. in the past decade are dead or in jail now, often likely because of vigilante/cop action.

Iunno. I’m one Black tranny cripple and my literal ability to do.. anything, anymore is minimal. But I feel like I’m losing my mind watching almost nothing happen here while elsewhere resisters are literally dismantling weapons factories piece by piece until they can’t function.

And I just know if I hop on Facebook or Twitter and scroll for a couple minutes I’ll see another lynching and no meaningful material action and I’m so fucking tired.
