My headcanons for Sister Norway!!! :D

FINALLY, a headcanon post focusing on one of the sisters in SatW! Aside from Sister France, Sister Norway is my second favorite :3

Human name: Astrid Johansen

Etymology: Meaning "divine beauty". A classic royal name with a strong, ancient Scandinavian heritage.

Nicknames: Asti, Ast, Norge

Age: 40 (Physical) 1154 (Actual)

Height: 229cm tall (only a single centimetre distance!)

Relatives: Brother Norway

Occupation: Stortinget/Storting representative

Like her brother, she has a larger build compared to the other Nordic sisters, and is often the tallest amongst them.

It is twice implied that her brother's "boobs" are smaller than hers.

She does not have many speaking roles, although when she does, she is often taken aback by the current situation.

She is one of the more calm countries in the series, not unlike her brother. But it can sometimes be a bit fierce. Such as in the one time she punched Sister Sweden whilst she was at the pond with Sis. Denmark and Sis. Iceland (in the comic strip "Monster in the Lake"), and in the first comic she was introduced in (Meet my Sister) when she calls Sister Sweden a whore.

Aside from that, she is very motherly and nurturing, oftenly seen comforting Sister Denmark in case she gets scared of anything about nature. This isn't too different from her brother's relationship with Brother Denmark.

She likes to make sweaters! So much that Brother Norway had bought her a load of yarn for her once.

She sometimes uses Norway's fish hairclips, oftenly stolen ("permanently borrowed") from whenever he's sleeping or too distracted looking at fish in a fish tank.

^ Her favorite hairclips have an ocean sunfish (aka mola mola) and an angelfish, respectively.

She is pretty much exasperated, but can't help but chuckle whenever Sister Denmark and Brother Denmark argue over which Norway is better. (Deep down, she feels some slight pride whenever Sister Denmark compliments her!)

She HATES thight clothing, and gets a slight bit embarrassed about her tummy standing out.

The other only time she got uncomfy with the Denmarks was when they demonstrated how Danes greet Norwegians, traditionally (as of the comic strip "Proper Greeting.")

She has an apple-shaped body build, meaning she has a full chest, an undefined waist, and narrow hips.

The response from many Japanese otaku to this tweet (saying it's wrong to connect those characters to pride, that's it's disrespectful to the author wishes) is pretty indicative of the way a chunk of the audience loves to consume queer stories but refuse to associate them to the material reality of real queer people.

It's even more ridiculous when you know that classic yuri and BL find their roots written by lesbians in girls magazines and queer European art.

In the west we still have those arguments too, but I feel like they have mostly shifted to the endless Trans or Otoko no ko debate.

(also it's really funny that in all chatter no one is debating the canonicity of Chocolat/Macaron lol).
