My cat needs surgery.

This is Jones! He's one year old! He's my semi feral rescue, and my ESA. He was living on my porch when I moved in and now he lives with me! He's the black cat! I love him so much!!! (the other two cats are Gumbo and Ginkgo, and his best friends)

See his tail? He isn't holding it like that. He can't move it at all.

My partner and I met Jones in June of 2020 and for as long as we've known him, his tail has always stuck out behind him like a stick. When he runs, it flops around at the end and when he turns or jumps, it thuds against everything it hits. When the other cats play with it, he doesn't react even when they've drawn blood (we don't let them play with his tail but accidents happen). Yesterday we found out why.

At the base of his tail, 4 of his vertabrae are fused. Below that he has old fractures that have since healed. His tail is alive, but it's numb and he can't move it. He essentially has a semi flexible stick coming out of his hips and is unable to sit comfortably or use litter boxes that aren't huge. Even when he does make it to the box, he suffers from urinary and fecal incontinence, meaning that he has limited control over when he uses the bathroom (especially when he's sleeping).

The good news is, we can help him!! He has to get his tail amputated, which is terrifying, but fortunately the fusion is far enough down that the surgery can proceed normally and wouldn't require cutting through his bone. That being said, it's still $1500 between his appointment and surgery. I know money is tight for a lot of people right now, but if anyone can help I'd appreciate it so much.

Hello friends I keep forgetting to actually post on this site and just browse shit lol I’m a hermit now. Got my stimmy. Doin okay. mostly. Lots of anxiety surrounding work but oh well.

Bought myself a new drawing tablet with some stimmy. My first ever display tablet, rather than the wacom pen I’ve been using since my senior year of highschool. Big upgrade, might actually do some damn art.

Also got myself an actually decent chair to sit in, in my living room, so I can not sit on a 15.00 target chair that hurts my ass.

So that’s fun. Cross your fingers for next week cuz I have a ‘review’ at work and idk I have anxiety. :)(
