As mentioned previously (at some point), I tend to over-think things and get buried in research far too easily. Thus, it was a given that I would dive right into science-y things when I was invited into the world of Havok and Hijinks!
To start off light, however, I thought I would just show off the map Iāve been given, on which I will base everything on. Itās not a full map of the entire planet, but itās the location (the ācontinentā) that Havok & Hijinks is based in.
This is a continent made up of several little self-ruled countries/kingdoms/etc. It is collectively known as āVallhyn.ā Size-wise, this is about that of the USA (with bits of Canada mixed in, Iām sure), and since I assume in following posts that the planet this continent is found on is Earth-sized, there is likely a lot not being shown.
Still, this will be the baseline from which weāll eventually explore! Next step (Which will appear at some point in the future): atmospheric circulations/basic climatology! :D
(P.S. If youāre not into this, dragons will be interspersed throughout. Or rather, this will be interspersed throughout.)

Uh-oh. A couple of people have found anā¦ extra, non-HnH card in their decks. So far, theyāve all been blank (I can only imagine how embarrassing it would be to give this game to my kids only to find aā¦ less tame CaH card inside).

Two versions, because I like both for different reasonsā¦ :/
In a rare continuation of the previous post, wet monsoon season means lightning! Lots of lightning. Fire-causing lightning, even. Also, deadly, lethal lightning. Please practice lightning safety, okay?
This means going indoors or into a car during a thunderstorm. Trees are horrible places to take shelter, as are golf courses, open meadows, living caves, tall metal sculptures, and open-roof umbrella factories. Corded phones (do those still exist anymore?) and showers should also be avoided. Be safe, everyone!
Also, donāt drive into flooded areas. Turn around, donāt drown!

So, itās time of year for the North American Monsoon, which means seeing a double rainbow when you leave the office! :D
A rainbow is formed by sunlight refracting in falling raindrops at 42 degrees, with red on top, indigo on bottom. A secondary (double) rainbow is formed when sunlight refracts a second time within the raindrop, forming a rainbow with the opposite color scheme on ātopā of the first. Theoretically, thereās an infinite amount of rainbows, as some light will continue to refract and refract and refract within the raindrops, though the human eye canāt see anything beyond the double rainbow. Some fancy cameras have shot quadruple rainbows, though!
Related, while it didnāt come out too well in the final image (as shown here), the double rainbow on Ruby was meant to be a combo between Amberās ability to shine beams of light and Pearlās ability to exude mist. Though, obviously, reality still doesnāt work quite like that. :)

(Related, I based the tall thing on the giant sunflower [Helianthus giganteus], which is one of the taller flowering plants, growing to 15 feet. The tallest sunflower, though, is currently in Germany and is around 27 feet tall.)
