The Locals {Felicity and Danny}
Danny nodded. So, her name was Felicity. He might want to make note of that, if he wanted to have her come back to his store. At the very least, she seemed like the kind of person he could get along with. She didn’t complain about his store, and it looked like she really was going to make a purchase. Maybe things were looking up for a change.
“Oh, is it? I never really cooked with it, to be honest. It never seemed that bad to me.” He’d have to sample it later. If it really was spicy, he could come up with a prank or two to play on Erik later. Thinking about it, he couldn’t help but chuckle.
“By the way, did you say something about customers?” Danny asked. “Do you run a store or something?” The girl here seemed to have her emotions written all over her face. Danny found it hard to imagine her dealing with difficult customers. “Oh yeah, you said you were from out of town, right? Come a long way?” Hopefully she was close enough that this wasn’t a one time visit.
Felicity grouped the three spices together and turned to him. “Oh, yeah, I’m a waitress! I don’t do the cooking for our customers, well... sometimes I get to, but anyway, I like to help my boss come up with new flavors for our signature recipes.”
She paused, still recovering from the powerful spice. Her eyes were watering up, so she dabbed them with the sleeve of her shirt and smiled.
“I’m from Echo Village, that’s where Chez Clement is. It’s our little diamond in the rough. That is, if you ignore the travelling agency.” She subconsciously spoke in favor of bringing new faces into the restaurant. “It’s a bit of a ways away from here but the trek isn’t so bad. Most of the path is really pretty.”
Long Time Gone || Raven&Felicity
As soon as Raven opened up the shop, a young woman entered. Raven had been hoping to have a little time to clean up and fill some orders before anyone showed up, but it seemed like she would have no such luck.
“Hey…” The woman responded without meeting the other’s eyes, her own glued to an open notebook that laid on her desk. Though as the stranger asked for bracelets, Raven finally looked up, quickly taking a look at the girl in front of her. She was not from Adonea, that was for sure.
“Yeah we have bracelets on that shelf over there,” Raven responded as she gestured to the side of the shop. “The bottom shelf has jewellery that isn’t enchanted, which is probably what you’re going to want to get. Let me know if nothing works though… and I can put in a custom order.”
“Enchanted?” Felicity raised her eyebrows and smiled nervously. “Oh no, definitely not enchanted. Although if you have any jewelry that would make me shorter, I’d buy that up in a second.”
It was a weak attempt at a joke that Felicity had hoped would alleviate some of the pressure of this interaction. She didn’t want this other woman to see her scars or question her. (Although, her disposition was clue enough that she was not the type to go prodding without consent.) It was just her way of assuring herself that everything would be okay, that no one would think less of her.
Felicity tiptoed over to the shelf she had been directed to, and she knelt down to look over the selection. All of the pieces were very unique, much unlike anything she had seen sold in the city.
Her hands and eyes gravitated towards the ones that bore blue colors, specifically a wide, jeweled bracelet. She picked it up gingerly and smiled. “This one is gorgeous.”
Dylas’ Dishes || Dylas & Felicity
“Ah,” Dylas raised his eyebrows and nodded to acknowledge his new customer. She seemed like she was genuinely enjoying the festivities, and that helped to lift his nervousness at running a booth by himself.
“That’s a good question, but obviously, I recommend everything,” he smirked at her. Honestly, he loved that question. Though he had doubts about himself, he was proud of how far he’d come with his cooking skills, and deep down, he really wanted to show off.
He jutted his chin towards the ready made food. “If you’re in a rush to go do other things and are pretty hungry, go for the dumplings. If you’re not that hungry, then I’d go for popcorn. If you have time, though, I can cook you some noodles or rice with meat and veggies. It’s up to you.”
Dylas smiled at her, now feeling quite comfortable and very much like a chef.
Felicity’s eyes widened. Did he just use her signature phrase?
It was easy for her, however, to understand that most people who served food would be inclined to “recommend everything.” It was not just her who sung that out with a smile on her lips, although she could not but help feeling somewhat bemused.
She listened to him with an interested smile, and then nodded once he had finished. Everything smelled so good, she was eager to place her order.
“To be honest,” she half-laughed, “I mostly came here for the food. Maybe I’ll watch one of the acts, but that’s not really my priority.” She paused. “So I guess that means I’m looking for something a little more... substantial. Rice with vegetables actually sounds lovely.”
After Hours ~Felicity&Tina~
Embracing her friend back, Tina grinned. It was great to mess around with Felicity again, their jobs had them separated for a while so it was hard to meet up and spend some time together.
Arms letting go of each other, Tina stepped back a bit, her smile wide on her face. “So what’s on the agenda today? I can see you got something back there~” Giving Felicity a little wink, as she made her way towards the counter with the few items that the other had brought out.
A small chuckle escaping her mouth, Tina was excited. Her hands going to the items on the table, picking up the whipped cream. “Now what shall we do with~ this~” Grinning back to Felicity, her hand holding up the whipped cream. near her face.
Felicity clicked her heels against the tile and pulled her upper lip into a coy smirk. “Wellll~ We do have all night.”
This is refreshing, was all Felicity could think. She rarely ever got to let her hair down, so to speak, in a place she had become so comfortable in. It was a great opportunity to add a pop of color into her monotonous thus far summer, as well as catch up with Tina, someone who she terribly missed.
“Now that~” She smiled. “Can be used for one of two things. We can either live out every woman’s dream and make ourselves the best friggin’ sundaes ever. Orrr, we make things a little more interesting.”
Taste Testing {Laney&Felicity}
Today hadn’t been an eventful day at Howard’s Cafe. Very few people were currently in the shop (then again, it wasn’t like Bluebell was a tourist attraction), but it wasn’t like it was bad. It gave Laney time to do some extra cooking with her father, and even just do some mindless tasks that they had been putting off lately, as the customers took their time eating and relaxing. Sure, it wasn’t too hard, but it was still hot in the kitchen of the cafe.
She let out a sigh, walking to the counter of the cafe and setting down the new and improved summer menus. A piece of blonde hair had moved out from the bun that held the rest, flowing down. Realizing this, she let out her blonde hair, moving quickly to fix the bun. Perfect. And at a good time too-
As she finished fixing her hair, she heard the voice of a young woman and turned over to her. A customer?! Laney gave her a warm smile, picking up a menu from that she had set down at counter just moments before.
“Hello, welcome to Howard’s Cafe!” She cheerfully responded, still giving the fellow woman a warm smile. Putting her hands out to show the cafe, she nodded. “You can sit anywhere you prefer! We aren’t busy right now, so it’ll be okay!”
Felicity ran her teeth over her bottom lip and looked around the cafe. Very cute, very quaint. Perfect for its location. All things she would have to pen down once she had the chance. Charm was always a big selling point for the readers of the magazine. Sub-par food in a nice place was much better than good food in a dump.
“I’ll sit over by the window.” Felicity reflected the woman’s cheerful smile.
More often than not, she felt bad going into these kinds of cafes undercover to critique. Big places in the city expected women like her to come in from time to time. In those situations, she sometimes felt inclined to just come right out and state her intention. But small town places typically did not see too many critics. It made Felicity feel deceitful, but that was what she was paid to do.
As she sat, she looked up at Laney and hung her bag on the chair. Hopefully the food would be good so she wouldn’t have to draw bag light on this cute little cafe.
Dylas’ Dishes || OPEN
It wasn’t often that a circus came around. Even with all the festivals happening in Selphia, the energy here was different. It made him feel.. young again.
With the push of Porcoline, Dylas had decided to set up a food booth complete with ready made dumplings, baked apples, french fries, popcorn, and more. He’d also made a makeshift hotplate for larger dishes, just in case.
With a deep breath, he smoothed down his apron, tied up his hair, and put on the best smile he could manage.
“Come on over, to Dylas’ Dishes! Ready made food and meals to order!”
….. I sound like an idiot.
Felicity did not come to the circus for performers or animals doing tricks. Those were things she did not particularly care for. Music could be found on the radio and novelty animals were all over the internet. But food? Food was something you had to experience in person.
So that’s why she showed up that day, dressed all cute and cheerful. It was for the inevitable spread of signature foods and drinks, most for a pretty reasonable price.
The young waitress had yet to decide whether she wanted to sample everything, or just dedicate herself to one specific stand.
To help her decision, she approached the first vendor that she saw with a bright smile.
“Hi there!” She waved to the man. “What does the chef recommend?”
After Hours ~Felicity&Tina~
Not doing anything in particular that day, Tina was spending her afternoon at home scrawling down and adding to her articles. Hearing the familiar tone from her phone she hopped up checking the message Felicity sent.
Face perking up at the invitation, Tina grinned while writing back a reply.
To: Feli || “Heading over right now! There’s nothing better to do right now anyway :p”
After sending the short reply, Tina went to grab her bag, putting her phone straight back into its pocket and heading out the door to the restaurant. Reaching the doors of the familiar building, Tina pushed open the door, grinning over to Felicity as she greeted her friend. “I’m here~, so what’s up?”
Felicity smiled wide when she read Tina’s reply. It had been a very long time since the girls made any mischief together. And with Clement already fast asleep, the chances of them getting caught were slim to none.
While Tina made her way over, Felicity glanced over the contents of the pantry and fridge; there was plenty for the two girls to have fun with. She opted to remove a tub of ice cream, whipped cream, and any of the other items that they broke out when someone ordered a sundae.
When she heard Tina, Felicity made her way briskly back into the hall.
“Hey, you!” She approached Tina and gave her a quick hug. “Clement had to leave early today, so I’m the temporary boss. And I’ve just decided that we’re going to take advantage of all the wonderful prospects in this place.”
“I hope you skipped dinner.” She added with a wink.
Long Time Gone || Raven&Felicity
It was late in the morning when Raven finally managed to drag herself out of bed, having had suffered through a long night with little sleep. Normally she was up by six or seven, at the latest, but it was nearly nine by the time she was finally up and getting dressed.
Looking through her closet, Raven could not help but note just how heavy all of her clothing was. Lucky for her, she did not feel the heat of summer, or the heat of the forge, or she would definitely have to invest in some new clothes. Not that she wanted new clothes. The ones that she wore did an excellent job at covering as much skin as possible, and that was how she liked it.
Finally almost dressed, Raven slipped a long blue jacket, similar to the pink one that she normally wore. Heading down the stares, she then unlocked the door and turned the shop sign to open.
Felicity was at least relieved when she saw someone open the shop. The last thing she needed was to have traveled such a long distance only to find that the place was closed.
And it was almost better that this girl was a complete stranger, and that the two may never cross paths again. That way, she did not have to worry about losing the respect or triggering the worry of someone she cared about. More than likely, these two women would finish this exchange, and keep going on with their lives in separate directions. A clean, simple solution.
“Hi.” She approached the woman with a smile, hands unconsciously glued to her sides. “I was wondering what sorts of bracelets you sold here.”
Long Time Gone || Raven&Felicity
Felicity could not have picked a worse time to spill coffee on her lace wrist cuffs and it had never occurred to her, even in her best times, to buy a spare pair.
Taste Testing {Laney&Felicity}
Felicity stood outside of the cafe, gnawing aimlessly on the clicker of her pen. While she had been to Bluebell before, it was always for a brief visit, never any sort of stay that would require her to eat.
But she was not just there as a visitor. Her boss from the magazine publisher had asked her to dine at this particular stop and compose a review. Supposedly the company was “getting too big for its britches” and “needed to revisit its roots with small town diners and other eateries.”
While the shift was not entirely unwelcome, Felicity had to admit that she had gotten used to the exciting world of city dining. This place reminded her alot of Chez Clement, another place due for a review.
She placed her pen and notepad in her bag, pushed open the door and looked around. Atmosphere was the first thing she judged no matter the location.
“Hello!” She called in cheerfully. “Just me today.”
The Locals {Felicity and Danny}
Danny wasn’t aware that he was guilt-tripping the girl who had wandered into his shop. Then again, if he did know, he probably would have seen that as a happy mistake and used it to get an extra sale. Danny wasn’t an underhanded person, but he usually wasn’t the kind of person to clear up a misunderstanding that favored him, either.
“Ah, none of that ‘sir’ stuff, ‘Danny’ is just fine. Ah, I see. Well, this is definitely the place to shop in Trampoli, no matter what anyone else says!” Couldn’t have her going to the new store that had opened up next door that was stealing all his customers lately.
Danny thought for a moment. “Local spices? Er, I might have some of those, hold on a sec.” Danny rummaged around the shop. “Ah, here we go!” Danny motioned to the shelf he’d been able to locate. The selection was pretty small. “There, all the spices you could need.”
“Alright, then.” She smiled. “Just Danny. I’m just Felicity. Nice to meet you.”
Felicity walked briskly over to the shelf and nodded, a little dismal at the limited selection but nonetheless committed to trying them out. A new spice from a location away from Echo was sure to add some excitement to the dishes she served.
She picked up the first bottle and brought it closer to her face as to smell it. It was sweet and airy. The second was sharp and savory. Both were unique and would be great additions to her repertoire.
Happy with the unique items, she quickly grabbed the third one. Expecting it to be like the rest, she brought it forward, only to be nearly knocked over with the powerful scent.
“Oh yikes!” She laughed out once she had gained composure. “That sure is spicy. Not my personal preference but I’m sure the customers will like it.”
After Hours ~Felicity&Tina~
Although she felt bad that Clement was sick, she could not help but be very pleased with the fact that she had the restaurant all to herself for the last 3 hours of the work day. He had left sniffling, making her promise to keep the place under control.
This proved not to be much of an issue as the flow of customers died down rather quickly after the sunset. Michelle had left, and the place was deserted by the time she was set to close.
But, hanging up her apron, the young waitress decided she didn’t want her night as the restaurant's owner to end so suddenly. With a grin, she reached for her cellphone.
To: Tina
“Hey!! Head over to Chez at your earliest convenience. ;D”
The Locals {Felicity and Danny}
Danny had been busy cleaning out some expired inventory when he heard someone come in. A customer? Hey, maybe business was starting to look up after all. He turned around and saw someone unfamiliar.
“Hm? Are you a customer? If you’re a customer, welcome. What are you buying? We have some turnip seeds in stock. Oh, and some pendants came in just the other day too. Where did I put those again? They’re around here somewhere if you look.”
Felicity paused. She was not actually there to buy anything. The original plan was to get directions and be on her merry way. But, seeing how empty the shop was and how eager the man seemed to be about making a sale, she felt bad. Having been jilted by direction-seeking customers many times before, there was no way she was leaving this place empty handed.
“Hi, sir.” She nodded. “I’m visiting from out of town so I wanted to do some shopping.” She paused, thinking of anything she might have wanted or needed. “Do you happen to have any local spices?”
As always, I recommend everything~ ♡
The Locals {Felicity and Danny}
Felicity's favorite part of her job was getting to travel to all sorts of unique locations to try the local cuisine. Many people relied on her in-depth reviews to clue them to the best places to eat. That particular day, the young waitress found herself in a place called Trampoli, a beautiful village that seemed to hold much promise. Only, she could not find a map for the life of her. Hoping to get some direction, she entered the nearest shop and stepped tentatively in. "Hello?" She called to anyone who might be listening.
