༒︎ . Her moonlit hair spills out as pale gold upon silk and lace, and her figure sprawls upon the bed, as a brimming cup to be consumed. The Devil might be a tomb, for the way his wings envelop her, but she is undeterred in her delightful teasing even as he hovers above, reflecting light like stained glass. ❛ Is that a promise, my dragon? Or will you disappear with the morning light again? ❜ She drawls, the lilt of her voice mocking boredom as she blows a stray strand of hair away from her face. With the languid move of her arm, so, too, does her jewellery sway, silver serpents and crescents dangling as she conquers him anew, and shifts to straddle him instead. Nails run up his shoulder, descending toward the ridge of muscle where wingbone meets spine. ❛ You've been lounging in that study for so long, [ she murmurs, her breath warm against the hollow of his throat, ] I wonder if you still remember how to use these... ❜

༒︎ . He descends to one knee before her, and this Herculean effort of his to yield must pain him so. Clawed thumb brushes along his cheek, committing the shape of him. He is the portrait of his father, but he is nothing like him. Her son is ruination, a monstrous tempest wrought in flesh, and Lilith knows with the clarity of a queen who has watched cities burn that this hunger came from her. He is all her. ❛ Does it bruise you to kneel for your mother, little king? ❜ Violet gaze lingers upon him, brimming with pride and disappointment, twin serpents entwined in her heart. A soft whisp of laughter leaves her lips, drifting like smoke, as she cradles his face in her palm, ❛ Good. A boy should choke a little on his pride before he learns how to wield it. ❜

HE SHOULD HAVE KNOWN SHE WOULD FIND OUT …. she was always far wiser than most gave her credit for. the castle was empty but he could sense her approaching. a sigh escaping him as soon as he heard the doors open. pushing what he had been working on to the side. he didn't look at her. how could he ? how could he face her after what has been agreed to ? part of him is screaming to tell her why. to tell her about the threat that had laid in their words. he was only trying to protect her & Charlie. & if that meant the death of sinners who could not care less ? then so be it. that was a price he was willing to pay. ❝ they're sinners , Lilith. they don't care. they're here because they did horrendous things. some of them very well could do the same thing i agreed to. they don't care. ❞ his tone seemed harsh , but that was only to keep himself steady. to keep himself standing up. his love was their voice. she empowered them. & Heaven had grown angry at this. they had threatened to deal with her themselves. he couldn't let that happen. he wouldn't let that happen. he refused.
❝ why is that so hard to understand ? ❞ he couldn't grasp it. why she was so determined. after everything they had done. after everything they had suffered. she was going down the same path that he was. loving humanity so deeply. it could lead to her destruction. he knew this first hand. why couldn't she just listen ? why did she insist on this ? ❝ this had to be done. I'm sorry you're upset. but i won't apologize for doing this. ❞ he won't apologize for doing what he had to , to protect them. he finally turned to face her. & willed himself not to break. he had to remain strong. he must. even with those eyes on him. ❝ you love them too much. it's not going to end well for you. please. take it from me if nothing else. ❞ he lets out a shaky breath. a hand extended to her. he wanted her near him. he wanted her to understand.
༒︎ . IN THE LULL OF THE INFERNO ETERNAL, for one transient moment of ruin, she is returned to the garden. Memory pools like dusk upon still water, then ripples. When the ache fossilises, vexation comes in its place. Vast as a serpent stirring beneath dark water, primordial in its fury, older than the throne she sits upon and older still than the kingdom built around it. The Palace becomes a vault. How easily he mistakes exclusion for protection. Her gaze fixes upon him at last, lilac and unyielding. How often he calls it love when he decides she need not be heard. ❛ Do not stand there and speak to me of what had to be done when you never intended to consult me at all. ❜ She descends from the dais then, into the waiting maw of the chamber, a flame swaying. The great doors close shut, the King & Queen of Hell veiled in sepulchral silence, beneath the weight of his decree.
She wonders, at times, if he still sees her as he once did. The girl in the garden who needed his help to fly. This ancient creature before her, to whom she had given both heart and will, is still an angel. He is wrought of first light, carved from the earliest hymns of creation. She feels the might of him as one might feel the pull of an old star. He would burn her down like wax if she let him. ❛ They have done monstrous things, and so have we. ❜ She does not deny what they both already know. There is no love in her for the sinners, no absolution for their choices, but the refusal to let any soul be reduced entirely to its worst moment. To be subjugated at the throne of Heaven, never will she allow, no matter how much he insists upon it. ❛ Some of them are beasts beyond reason. Some delight in suffering. ❜ Claw taps a waltz against his desk as Lilith passes by, brushing past his offered hand as her gaze sweeps over the scattered letters and sealed reports. She wants nothing more than to fall into his arms, and take his assurances, but they gleam as false as fool's gold. ❛ But tell me, Lucifer… what name should I give a King who signs death warrants in secret because it is easier than enduring Heaven? What happened to courage? Won't you dare dream? ❜
Her stance on the “ sinners ” is complex ━━━ Lilith represents individual choice, and she advocates for the free will of individuals to make decisions according to their own liberty, but she demands inner responsibility for one's choices. Souls are eternal energy in possession of ultimate free will, and no soul is ever complete at the moment of death, and therefore cannot be permanently assigned, sealed, or reduced into a final moral category. To her, existence does not resolve into a static verdict ; it continues becoming, even beyond mortal cessation. A soul is not a fixed essence but a fluid condition. For this reason, she rejects the cosmological division that attempts to box existence into final destinations of “good” and “evil.” She is not a figure of Justice, and she does not conceive of morality as a jurisdiction belonging to either Heaven or Hell.
* Idealisation aside, the system exists. Hence, she propels reformations for Hell. She has made her choice, and as Queen she has a responsibility to ensure the safety of the Realm for all its inhabitants, hellborne and sinners alike.
𝓣he Gospel of the Wild, and Girls Made of Hunger ━━━ ⟢ @exalted-slaughter, in continuation.
༒︎ . The Lady of Beasts presides over nocturnal reveries, a bacchanalia of wilderness. She makes no apologies for her wild heart, and rebels anew each day, and begrudges these holy shackles of God ━━━ Adonai, the Almighty, He who is Lord of the Heavens. Even as a captive in Eden, she is still free. Within her, something ancient always seethes, monstrous and ravenous, and were that she could take the world in her maw and swallow it whole. Ever capricious is the First Woman, wrought of primordial dust. For all she would rend the lieutenant for the demon-blood upon her hands, she can muster a flutter of pity for the shackled angel before her, with her passions chained beneath piety. She wonders, then, what lies beneath the veneer of the angel's flesh. If she were cracked open like a fruit, and split apart, what would lie betwixt her ribs? ❛ Then come closer, little bird. ❜ Lilith coos, her nail drifting from her throat to the hollow of her chest, where her dress dips. The enticement of a serpent, the beckoning of a Jezebel. It almost makes her laugh. Heaven has named her a temptress, so she will have her fun with the angel. ❛ Do you think you could stomach it? ❜
This is the creature that has plagued her Realm. This small, hungry thing has led crusade after crusade against her people. If Lute were to step closer indeed, she would fall into the Queen's grasp. Her gaze lingers, soft and terrible all at once. ❛ My dark, sinful, wretched heart. Does it frighten you to want it? ❜
“My love—- this is a simple battle barely even a battle - I can lead the troops and be back before breakfast tomorrow “ he insisted pouring Over the map of the territory that in far further would have become pentagram city as soon as they laid full claim of course .
༒︎ . She perches at the Dragon-King's side, a veil of grace shrouding evermore her disposition. The chamber's maw is one with many heads, and many teeth, and many voices ━━━ each in each entwined, a pandemonium of passions. Her king is urged every which way by his advisors, and they would eat him alive were that they could, if only to sate their appetites. Hell is a beast that must be gentled again with each turning moon, lest it turn its teeth inward and feast upon its own hunger. ❛ Hell is not so starved for victories that it must spend you carelessly. ❜ Guilt flutters betwixt her ribs like a bird in a cage, a thing with feathers, nipping at her heart. Had it been her voice, then, that tilted his thoughts toward war? Had she spoken something that became, in his mind, a reason to go? When her desires had taken shape, had he thought to win them for her? Battle has never been her language. She does not pretend otherwise. Strategies of war belong to others, to his councils and commanders, and she insists not upon them ; but she knows better in matters of statecraft. Lucifer is the symbol of Hell, and he cannot be felled. ❛ We cannot lose you, beloved. ❜ Lilith says, voice resolute as her lilac gaze flickers toward him.
Her husband is her King, and her King is her husband, and she shares him with the Realm. Even if she were to lay her own want aside, fold it neatly and hide it where even she cannot look too closely, the truth would remain unchanged: she knows him too well to believe conquest and bloodshed are the true wish of his heart. Lithe hand caresses up his armoured arm, the steel cold to the touch, and then she steps closer, caging herself between him and the map, ❛ I would have you here, with me, when morning comes. ❜
[ Lengthy ] Lore / mainverse ramblings under the cut.
I will be .. [ very ] gradually developing her pre-show narrative, based in the accumulated myths & legends of Lilith. All of this will be considered secondary information relevant to my characterisation, but otherwise not disturbing any show-adjacent verses. * Her arc epitomises wilderness, chaos, rebellion, and spiritual liberation. Lilith has fought her entire life against the Ordained, and I'd like to explore her adventures before she eventually made it to Lucifer's Court as his Queen. It's imperative to her narrative that she does not demand authority, and she does not uphold authoritative systems ━━━ her titles are gifted, given freely by those who champion her. Yet she is not without [ many ] faults, especially in her early years.
* The only two alterations to established canon I'm making here are that (1) she was not with Lucifer when the apple was given to Eve, and (2) she did not fall to Hell with him, initially. Portrayal dependent, but I'd be invested in potentially having a secret Lucilith wedding in Eden, before they're separated.
THE FLIGHT OF LILITH, AND THE GIRL AT THE RED SEA.
When Lilith declares she will not serve Adam, and speaks the Ineffable Name, and departs, she is pursued by three angels upon the command of Heaven [ Senoy, Sansenoy, and Semangelof ], tasked with retrieving her. They find her hidden in a cave near Red Sea, and they root her out, and deliver Heaven's ultimatum unto her: that she should return, and all be well, or else face divine wrath. She bargains with them, but in the end, they drown her in the Red Sea. [ I will detail the story of the Amulet used to ward against her, and her curse / association with the deaths of children at a later time. Names are an important symbol in her story, overall. ] She dies with power between her teeth, for she possesses the secret of Heaven. She and Lucifer were meant to find each other at this point, but he is not able to get to her in time.
In the drowning, something ancient within the dust of her formation awakens, an imprint not authored by Heaven, but older than its dominion. [ As a nod to her Mesopotamian roots, I'm toying around with the idea of there having been a remnant in her marrow that existed before order was fully imposed upon chaos. The dust used to create her had been wetted with droplets from the primordial waters. Within her, then, exists a continuity that predates Heaven's mandate, connected to the Abzû, once again placing Lilith as a figure of the Flood. ] In some legends, Lilith is named the Ruination of the World, the personification of Sitra Achra, the other side / the left side, that which destroys cosmic balance. In the Talmud, she is classified as a primordial she-demon. Taking that and running with it.
THE NIGHTBIRD, AND THE MAIDENS IN THE TREE.
In death, her body is found by Anzû, a Great creature that is part lion and part eagle, who would go on to steal the Tablet of Destinies from the God Enki, King of the Abzû. Anzû recognises the power in her and attempts to shape her, and sends her, in secret, into the court of the Goddess Innana as a handmaiden and prostitute, to learn and to study. She takes the name Ninshubur, becoming a friend and maid to Innana. [ Here based on the Epic of Gilgamesh and the Huluppu Tree, which binds Lilith to Anzû narratively with her in the trunk of the tree and him in the branches ━━━ and when Gilgamesh strikes the serpent, “the Anzu-bird flew with his young to the mountains; and Lilith smashed her home and fled to the wild, uninhabited places.” ] Anzû grants her the power of many names *, and albeit a brutal teacher, she learns a lot from him. She is his confidant, his spy. In turn, he promises her to realise her potential, to liberate her.
* These are the names recognised: Lilith, Abitar, Abiqar, Amorpho, Hakash, Odam, Kephido, Ailo, Matrota, Abnukta, Shatriha, Kali, Taltui, Kitsha. [ + Karina, Tabi'a, in other tellings. ]
It is during this time that the Watcher angel Samael defects from Heaven, and swears fealty to her after being sent to eradicate her. [ This being the Angel of Death, the Accuser, mythologically a different character from Lucifer in Hebrew lore. ] With his help and friendship, she establishes the order of her Lilitu, the wind-demons who become her most loyal maidens & spies. They take her many names, and together, they perform their service to Anzû. When Anzû commands her to steal the Tablet for him ━━ the true purpose of his tutelage leading to this one demand ━━ she does it. Lilith thinks that the power of the tablet mustn't exist, and she wishes to break it, and she is nearly slain by the warrior Ninurta for it. It is one of her handmaidens, in her guise, who is slain in the end, and Lilith is forced to flee. [ Against better judgment, she takes a small chip of the clay with her. ] She realises Anzû meant to keep the Tablet and its ultimate power for himself, not destroy it. She realises, too, that she must liberate herself, and breaks her chains by invoking the very same power of names he granted her and breaking free of the terms of their bargain.
THE QUEEN OF ZEMARGAD, MILKAT HALILA, THE MOTHER OF MONSTERS, THE MAID OF DESOLATION, AND THE APOSTASY OF THE BENE-ELOHIM IN DOR HA-MABUL.
Her flight from Innana's court and Anzû's patronage comes soon after that, and she finds herself exiled in the desert beyond, with her few companions. And this will lead to her becoming, at a later point, the Queen of Zemargad / the Queen of Sheba, along the Red Sea, who is known to have been a companion to King Solomon. Her court will be comprised of the Ardat-lilî & Lilītu, and Eṭel-lilî and Lilû. [ Omitting a lot here with regard her efforts to build an army against Heaven, will circle back. At this point, she already had informants in Hell and was working with some of the higher demon chiefs. ] Thereafter, the Grigori will descend to Earth, the Watchers led by Samyaza, and copulate with the human women, marking the birth of the cursed nephilim. In some interpretations, Lilith takes the guise of the lady-demon Naamah and seduces Samayaza, Samael, and Azazel. [ In this telling, Naamah is her handmaiden, and Lilith is the one who swayed the Grigori. ] I'm toying with the notion that she does, indeed, sway them to take human women to bed, in her wanting an army of her own to march to Hell, to recoup with Lucifer and take a stance against Heaven. This ploy of hers goes wrong regardless, and her rebellion against Heaven costs her greatly, in light of the Deluge narrative. It leaves her desolate and defeated, her kingdom in ruin, and many of those loyal to her perish in the Flood. [ Reiterating her as the figure of the Flood itself, an aspect of the fated ruin of the world. ]
She is smuggled to safety at the Gates of Sheol by Samael, who himself perishes in an attack by angels. [ The angels were of the Choir of Powers, under Adam's Command. ]
QUEEN LILITH, THE HARPY-QUEEN OF HELL, AND THE ODE OF THE NIGHT.
When she descends to Hell, at last, she takes her place as Lucifer's Queen, and must learn to integrate into these infernal courts of entirely different demons & beasts. Her own Queensguard is comprised of the Shedim, comprised of the demons that survived the Flood. She must strip the wilderness from herself and take on the mighty, regal grace expected of the Queen of Hell. She takes new ladies-in-waiting, Goetia and other noblewomen, and makes allies of her own across the Rings. It is in this lull of time that she forces herself to settle, and takes the mantle of Wife & Queen in stride, in absolution for her prior acts of rebellion. She loves Lucifer, but alas, staying idle has never soothed the wilderness in her. Her voice, ever her power, shines through as a rally for demonkind against the tyranny of Heaven. Her wish is to instil policies for the betterment of Hell, and all its subjects, but she also pushes for might and prowess, a united stance against Heaven. She pursues no severe action until the signing of the treaty, when Lucifer concedes to Heaven's terms against her wishes.
Going to bed after working on synthesising some Lilithlore, of which I’ll divulge bits and pieces as I go. Very excited to finally launch this blog properly. Send memes, come plot with me, I’m frothing 🤲
