“Yes, that one… Wait, you don’t know her even when the Authority was interested in her?” the werewolf probed, a judgmental smirk on his lips. “Don’t tell me you’re out of the loop on that?” Unfathomable, seeing how she was not only a big deal in the warlock community, but claimed to be an important member of the Authority. “My child?” Peter questioned as his features turned to disgust for a heartbeat. “Wait, you mean Malia,” he realized with a sigh of annoyance. “She does.”
The one good thing about being who he was—or what he was, depending on who you asked—, was Peter’s numb and cold demeanor. Of course, when it came down to it… Well, he didn’t take on three Ghost Riders out of the kindness of his heart. Greed was funny that way. Society believed it made you want the money, the power, status, fame, women, men, sex… Eternal life. Come to terms with it and even a living being becomes but a possession, a whim of your Greed. Peter didn’t have to work hard to put on that mask. While things with Malia had evolved, she had already been but a possession of his… One that didn’t listen. “Tip her if you pass by,” he teased coldly with a chuckle.
He stood by silently, watching as the warlock did her thing. Much more impressive work than that of Druids, that was for sure. There was a certain macabre beauty to it that the werewolf could admire…. And Greed bit at his soul, quietly asking if it was a power they could obtain too. Nashuja’s words pulled him from reality, causing him to chuckle. “Do I look like a father to you?” he questioned with an amused chuckle, knowing the answer damn well. “She’s mine because my blood runs in her. I’m sure it’s in your files somewhere, her true father its Henry Tate.” Malia would not be used against him. And while he knew his daughter had the Desert Wolf’s strength, the protection of the Hales and a True Alpha’s, he wasn’t going to take risks on that. “So, sorry to say we do not have that in common.”
“We do have the Authority though…. Sister? Would Sister be the appropriate title?” She would probably slap him, but Peter was ready to lay in the bed he’d made.
.
Nashuja’s expression didn’t change, even as she was caught on her lie. How foolish of her to pretend not to entirely know who Olivia was; she’d gone from one extreme to the other.
“I’ve read up on her and her lucrative ties, yes, but thus far that olive branch is still tentative,” she glared up at him. “you will not mention any of this to your business partner, that situation is more delicate than even I comprehend. It goes further up than both of us.”
Which wasn’t a lie. The Authority was extremely interested in Olivia and her Daylighter sire both. Nashuja had no idea how to appropriately bring it up to her love, given how volatile Olivia could be and how against she was to organisations; the idea of belonging was bastardised for her into being controlled. To Olivia, something even remotely like the Authority would be a ball and chain rather than the support and ally it was.
Snake eyes looked Peter up and down at his question.
“Ah, so you’re nothing more than a donor? My own father is the same, the demonic prick. Make no mistake, I adore my demonic heritage and family, but that being deserves less respect than the shit on my shoe,” Nashuja grumbled, unsure why she was sharing this with Peter. She clicked her fingers, hushing him as she did so. “Do not speak their name like that! Privacy, my boy, privacy. If you wish to call me sister I don’t care, there are others that do though they’re closer to mine age than yours,”
“and, regardless of your feelings towards the Tate girl, I warn you now from sister to brother that a wrong move our leaders do not like. We are allies, certainly, but even I- over four thousand years old, powerful, and close enough to whisper in their ear- am not above being chastised in ways more painful than either of us can conceive. They will find a way to destroy you, Peter, if you break any rules whether it’s through Malia or through your new Human beau.”
