Harryâs snow owl Hedwig. I love these! www.coewlesspolish.com
Oh, wow! This is gorgeous!!
Day Glow
More pictures on the blog :)
I literally need this.
I absolutely love these nails! It is so simple, but oh my god so sparkly! It reminds me of mermaids! :) I love the accent nail especially. I think it adds a little something to this mani!
Colors Used:
Savage - Sinful Colors (Base color)
Sexy Siren - Studio M Â (Sparkle top coat)
Accent Nail:
Teal of Fortune - Wet n Wild (Base color)
Dorothy Who? - China Glaze (Used as top coat)
Savage by Sinful Colors was originally a matte color, which I was not expecting. I didn't think that the matte really went with this manicure, so I used NYC - Grand Central Station to make it shiny again! Such a great decision, as making these nails matte would really hinder the summer feel I was going for. For the accent nail, Dorothy Who? was way too watery and would require 10 layers for it to actually cover my nail entirely. Teal of Fortune is a very dark teal with a subtle sparkle. When combined lightly with Dorothy Who?, it created a beautiful blue sparkly color!
Surfs Up Mani w/ Ballast Pointâs Pale Ale
Nails:Â Took me a while to figure out exactly what I wanted to do here, as I sure as hell wasnât about to paint a fish on my fingers. I thought Iâd paint the background blue and and do a white moon with rays, but that would just look like Saritaâs mani. So, I opted for a little bit more depth. I painted 2 coats of Sally Hansenâs Blue It and then I used some yellow acrylic paint in the bottom far corner of each nail to mimic the sun shining through the water:
Next, I painted 1 coat of Dashing Divaâs Water Taxi on top so the blue wasnât so harsh:
Then I took on my handy-dandy fan brush to work on the âwaves.â I love this brush for many reasons, but itâs so perfect for getting a fun swipe on your nails:
As you can see above, I mixed some white and blue together for a light blue color to start and I simply laid the brush flat and swiped from the bottom, far corner to the top near corner on each nail:
This light blue color is the base shade of the wave, so you can make this stroke a bit longer so it will peak through the next color. Next up was white (I waited until the light blue was completely dry). Same placement and motion, but a smaller stroke:
Those bottom corners where all the paint is were a bit sloppy, so I took a small-tipped brush and filled them in with white to make them clean, topped them off with Seche Vite and we were off to the beach! (I wish):
Most people who saw this mentioned right away that it looked like a wave, so my job here is done. You can do this in so many other fun color combos too. I just love the swipe method. Also, did you notice my new nail shape? Iâm trying out the almond shape here a bit, as my nails are now long enough to do it. Not sure I like itâŠdefinitely feel like my grandma. Maybe itâll grow on me.
Ale:Â Never had me a Ballast Point brew before (from San Diego), but they really love their fishies. All sorts of different ones on the label:
What is this guy? A yellowtail? I think so. Anyway, the beer wasnât up my alley. It poured a cloudy yellow with minimal head. The taste of bitter dough and yeast were overwhelming. No traces of hops. I am definitely willing to try a different Ballast brew, but this one was not for me. I give it a 3 out of 10 nails.
Sorry this post was so short! Iâm heading out the door right now to go to the Newport Folk Fest and ambush Newport Storm Brewery with my nails. Special edition post coming your way next week!
Quick mani I threw together when I was going to a Chicago White Sox game! First time the Crackle overcoat actually worked! So happy with how this came out!
Sinful Colors- Snow Me White
Sally Hansen- Crackle Overcoat (Black)
Sinful Colors- Queen of Beauty
The Queen of Beauty is hard to tell in this picture. There is a thin layer of sparkles on top of the crackle...it really sparkled under the lights! :) I absolutely love this polish...can't wait to see what I can do with it in the future ;)

Sinful Colors- Call You Later (Green Sparkle)
Sinful Colors- All About YouÂ
I am obsessed with Call You Later. It is so extremely gorgeous. I added one layer of All About You, which is like a gold-ish glitter, and it brought out a lot of the golden tones in Call You Later. It turned out great! :)
A funky idea I had:
Base: Out of This World by Sinful Colors
Solid Green: Irish Green by Sinful Colors
Sparkly Dots: Call You Later by Sinful Colors
I made Out of This World matte but it doesn't show up in the picture well. I think I may experiment next time with different color sparkles to make them look like jewels.

Polka Dot!
First time I've ever tried dots! I love them :) I used a bobby pin to make them and I think they turned out really well. See, you don't need a fancy dotting tool ;)
