FAIRYTALE MEME { 1/4 otps/brotps } → red riding hood & the woodsman
red isn’t sure how to thank the man who has just cut her and her grandmother out of the belly of a wolf. it’s not something she is used to, after all. but he is tall and warm and smells of pine trees and wood smoke. she smiles at him as he helps her to her feet, wonders at the broadness and roughness of his large hands, hands that had moments ago wielded an axe with savagery and strength now so careful and gentle with her. she whispers a thank you and her grandmother, ever polite even after being devoured by a wolf and cut out of him all in one day, invites the strong young man to tea. as red and the woodsman sit by the fire, exchanging gentle smiles and gentler words, teacups balanced on their knees and the warmth from the hearth making their cheeks ruddy, the young man gestures toward the back, where the body of the wolf had been dragged. “i could make you a fine rug,” he teases, the firelight dancing in his brown eyes. “and a fine home to put it in.”
