i’m speaking as someone who likes stursia and i don’t think the pluribus writers intend it to be this way, but do you think stursia could make for a good microcosm on how fandoms treat love interests as satellite characters. i’m sure someone could articulate this better than me

usually in other fandoms people treat a character as an accessory to their main favorite despite said character being interesting in their own regard

only this time zosia doesnt exist at all outside the context of being carol’s partner…like, literally

interesting phenomenon i’ve noticed is when animanga fans (shonenbros mostly, but sometimes even their own fans) keep referring to female mangaka by their first name, but always refer to male mangaka by their last name, sometimes in the same post (even pen names have proper first/last names)

the only outlier i’ve seen for male mangaka so far is people calling gege akutami ‘gege’ (first name)

but i have seen people call ryoko kui just ‘ryoko’, paru itagaki just ‘paru’, and just now rumiko takahashi just ‘rumiko’

of course, not always for female mangaka, like they always call hiromu arakawa ‘arakawa’, but it’s a trend i have noticed lately

meanwhile it’s always oda, it’s always araki, it’s always fujimoto, its always kishimoto, etc.
