My freaking sweet chapter 6 fanfic
(I just want to say before you read this, I have never really written anything like this (or wrote anything really) also i've never read a fanfic.)
Casually thinking about flowers in the future
Fuck it, we (Lancer)ball
how did you imagine lancer's handwriting on the lancer labelled paper? i always pictured it as like incredibly ornate for some reason
like it was labelled as 𝓛𝓪𝓷𝓬𝓮𝓻 (plaintext: a bold cursive lancer)
That's funny! I am now adopting this headcanon that he has beautiful handwriting
lancer, have you ever played fluvsies?
Hey, man, quick warning, preeeeetty sure there's someone behind you. Dunno who it is, but their head's all pointy...
🌼: WH- H-huh?! Who-
(Flowery🌼 turns his head around, trying find the person supposedly behind him. He turns a few times, nearly losing his balance. Lancer🕳 starts giggling and waving.)
🕳: Hey! It's Mr Flower! I haven't seen you around for ages!
🌼: O-Oh! It's... it's just you, Little Newbuddy!
🕳: The one and only! Hoho! What are you doing out here?
🌼: N-Nothing- I'm...-
(Flowery🌼 recalls a tactic he used with Aqua🪽 back in Flower Castle.)
🌼: I'm... p-playing a game! Ha, yeah.
🕳: A game? Woah, what kind?
🌼: Yes, a game... um- Hide and Seek..! I'm hiding from the o-other flowers- and Raly.
🕳: So does that mean I win? What's my prize, Mr Flower?
🌼: T-To... um. I didn't think of one- though I... might like somewhere to sit down. Could your prize be helping a Newbuddy o-out?
🕳: Then off we go! I'll take you to my favourite sitting spot!
(Lancer🕳 grabs Flowery's🌼 free hand, and leads him towards Castle Town.)
Silly Game Time: Who are two characters you really like from two stories you really enjoy (of any genre of any medium—novel, comic, movie, show, podcast, game, etc. including OCs if you like)? AND which of them is more likely to apologize for something that isn't their fault?
Lancer Deltarune vs. Simon Ironlung
Lancer is a very good and polite boy. He apologizes for things that aren't his fault all the time! But he's also a little terrible at reading a situation. I think half of his brain is dedicated to Cartoon_Splat.mp3 at any given moment. He doesn't always realize there might be something to apologize for.
Simon is more complex. He holds a lot of guilt for [sizeable spoiler] but also holds firm that he didn't want it to happen. He apologizes for it constantly, but it's never fully sincere because 1) He truly believes it wasn't his fault and will not take full accountability for it and 2) He is in the Death Box. He would like to get out of the Death Box. Still, he does repeatedly, largely sincerely apologize for [important plot point], as well as for [later plot point] when he had no reason to suspect it would be as harmful as it turned out to be because he was never told.
Basically, Lancer is more than willing to apologize for anything and everything if it means making someone happy, but unless they're literally trying to kill him, he wouldn't really have a reason. He prefers to joke around and be silly! Simon apologizes constantly, but might not always be sincere. He pushes the blame onto others, insisting that he "didn't know" or "that's not what was supposed to happen." Because of the dire situation he's in, he's also usually apologizing in a deliberate attempt to earn sympathy to tey and save his own life.
The question isn't who would be more sincere in their apology, though, it's "who would be more likely to apologize for something that isn't their fault." To that end, it largely comes down to how responsible you think Simon actually is. Both characters WOULD apologize, but Lancer would only realize it might be warranted if tensions were VERY high. "Best friend is actively going to kill your dad" high. The tension in Iron Lung is held high enough that it's hard to tell, but I think Simon would apologize for significantly less and in much less dire circumstances. The issue is that it would have to be at least a *little bit* his fault, at least to the extent that he has to explain how it isn't. Otherwise he'd likely just get defensive.
All in all, I might have to say Simon, but it's VERY close. If he like ate a bagel you were saving to have for breakfast he'd apologize but deflect and say that he didn't know. Lancer would ask if you want it back completely seriously. If you were genuinely pissed off about it, though, Lancer would be WAY more sorry about it while Simon would just deflect harder.
