Cider and Donuts!!

Fall is approaching and in Michigan that means 2 things, football and cider mill!  The brisk fall air is a reminder that summer is coming to an end and it is time to put the boat away.  It's not all bad though when you live near a place like the Long Family Orchard, Farm and Cider Mill.

Long's has recently gained some national attention as a host of presidential nominee Mitt Romney.  However, local residents like my wife and I have been enjoying fresh donuts and apple cider from Long's for years!

This year Long's Cider Mill will be opening September 22nd and is sure to be fun for the whole family. Of course we all come for the donuts and cider but while your there, be sure to take advantage of the pumpkin patch, wagon rides, petting farm and tractor maze.  

I'm not exactly ready for summer to come to an end but knowing what the lakes area has to offer in the fall makes things a little easier.

The cold weather will be here before we know it and that means it is time to winterize the boat.  I personally choose to just drive my boat over to the marina and have them winterize and store it because it is easier to not have a trailer.  However, winterizing a boat can be very simple and is a great way to save money, especially if you are storing your boat yourself.  There are many videos available on Youtube that will walk you through the process if you are unfamiliar.
