So while I’m coming up with the best plan of attack to relaunch Lakewood, I need all current members who would like to stay to message the main by the end of this week. I’ll also be putting up an opening for somebody to join the admin team at the end of this week as well.

Okay y’all, I’ve finally got internet back, but downside, the dash hasn’t moved in days. So we’re gonna start over at this point. Current members can message the main if they’d like to stay in the group, and which characters they’d like to keep in, otherwise they’ll be removed from the group. However, Lakewood is no longer open, we’ll be opening once we get ten apps in, because we need active members if there’s any hope for this rp to survive.

Lakewood has not been abandoned. My school’s wifi has crashed throughout the whole building and I don’t have access aside from public wifi when I can get away from schoolwork. Hopefully, I’ll get wifi in the next day or two, but I don’t have steady access until I do.  I can’t wait to get back to writing and taking in some new apps, but just hang with me until then babes.

Alexei Owens is an eighteen year old studentwho is studying Nursing. He is a homosexual, cis male. Alexei is caring and outgoing but also impatient and insecure.

Alexei Owens was always an odd kid; odd being that he cared about people more than others. He was always a bit of a people pleaser, willing to go out of his way to make his friends happy with him and pined for their attention. He was never one to get in people’s way if he could help it. This seemed to stem from his father, who was..less than ideal, and his habit of not communicating sometimes with Alexei as a kid into a teenager.

This lack of attention from one parent only escalated when Alexei’s mother passed from breast cancer when he was 13. At that point, his father barely looked at him let alone kept conversation with him. Alexei pretended he was fine with it at this point, every now and then he would try to converse and do things that were out of his character with no real result other than “You’re too much right now”.

When it was the time for Alexei to come out, he told his social media before considering telling his parent. That night, the two and had a conversation. His father poured his heart out in an attempted to apologize for the neglect he put on the boy, the only thing Alexei could ask was why say all this now? He was almost graduated from high school at this point. He could’ve said all of this when he was younger. Was it because he wasn’t the first person he ran to for once?

Fast forward a year later, Alexei was out of school and was planning to go to the University his best friend was attending for nursing. The strained relationship him and his father had was still there, this time because Alexei decided unless he was willing to be full time parent they had nothing to talk about. Currently, he is just living his life  discovering things about himself he put off finding out as a teen.

Okay, now that we’re all switched up, let’s get some apps in! I’m finally watching Stranger Things, and I’ll be around while it’s on, so come check us out, and send some new apps our way!

Hey y’all. Lets be honest, the dash activity is kind of disappointing lately. We’ve got members on hiatus and then people that join and just go inactive without so much as interacting with anyone.  Our other efforts haven’t made it much better. And it’s hard to see something I’ve put so much work in sputter like this, and I have let it get to me, and I’ve thought more than once about closing this group because it just sucks sometimes. But, I’m stubborn and dedicated, so Lakewood is staying open. We just got some new members, and I’m thrilled about every app we get still. Changes need to happen, though, because we need a more active dash and we need more active members.

All members currently on hiatus or that have talked to Jaden or I will be able to stay through their hiatuses and through special circumstances with their spots reserved.  Barring that, the activity limit is being moved down to two days. Activity checks are going to be every day other day, and if a member is placed on activity check they will have until the next one to update or they will be removed from the roleplay. If a member has multiple characters, unless they are on hiatus, they will be removed.  If you or one of your characters is removed from the group and you’d like to bring them back, you can message the main and be put on a week-long probation, if the activity checks are still met at the end of the week, you and/or your character is back n the group full stop, if the you or your character show up on another activity check, you or that character will be removed from the group.  We are still people and we understand things happen. But please talk to Jaden and I instead of going inactive, and we are going to help you however you need. Don’t, and you’re going to be removed from the roleplay. 

New starters shouldn’t be made when starters in the tags have zero notes. Interact with everybody, make every member feel welcome.

The biggest change is that Lakewood is now a semi-appless roleplay. Applicants and members will now have the choice between writing a bio, and giving details about their character via bullet points or a short third person paragraph. We will still expect thought out characters and apps to show some effort put into them. Jaden and I have put a lot of work into this roleplay, and since this is a character development driven roleplay,  we need to see that work has gone into the characters before they are brought into the group.  

We will be accepting every Friday, or when we reach five apps, whichever comes first. 

Wanted connections are going to become skeleton characters, and members are going to have to have some of this connection flushed out before requesting them. Significant others are not going to be allowed as wanted connections unless they are separated (ie a husband that was left but not divorced). Applicants will still have to talk to the members that requested the connection and write a bio from the information the member has given.

Hayden Monroe is a twenty-four year old Lakewood Local who is an UCLA student. He is a bisexual cis male. Hayden Monroe is level-headed and spontaneous but also rude and secretive. 

Hayden was born into wealth, his family one of the biggest wine makers in the country, it started back when Hayden’s mother began making wine from home. She’d have small sales, and then the sales got bigger. His father was a businessman, was real good with numbers while his mother was the face of the brand and the mastermind behind Monroe Wineries. They have wine vineyards and country clubs all throughout California, New York, even down in Florida where the big shots go vacationing. All of this was before Hayden was born. And when he was born, their business was better than it’d ever been. Sales were more rapid, everyone was in demand of the Monroe wine, needed it for every event, every little dinner, get together, etc. Though Hayden’s mother took a break from the business whenever the boy was born as she wanted to be a mother to their son rather than leaving him with nannies and strangers whilst she worked. Hayden’s father was all for it, he could handle the business while Evelyn took care of their son.

During his teen years, Hayden always felt he were different from all of his other peers, even going to the preppiest of private schools there was always something in him that he felt was way too out of place and he couldn’t ever place his finger on it. He was a popular boy, but he supposed that was because his family had money - and when you hung out with people who had money, you looked like you had money and a life of luxury. But nonetheless, Hayden kept them around to say he had friends. One night during his junior year, he had slept over at his friend Grant’s house, his parents were both plastic surgeons that worked in LA, worked with the stars and important people of the world - so they were just as rich, if not richer than Hayden’s family. But the boys got along real well, probably a little too well. They were touchy, and clingy and tended to be connected at the hip - and Hayden never saw the problem with it, never saw an issue as to why people thought it was weird for them to have this kind of bond. But that night he stayed with Grant things took a turn for the worst.

It was that night that Hayden realized that he liked boys, the two of them had slept together but Hayden refused to believe that he was gay. He refused to think that he could fall in love with a boy because it just wasn’t in his future to settle down with someone of the same sex as him - or settle down in general. That night he left Grant and told him that if he told a soul that they’d slept together that he’d regret it. And Grant never told a soul; yet Hayden lost a good friend because he didn’t want to accept who he was. So the boy went on a binge of sleeping with any and every woman that he possibly could just to try to turn himself straight. But he liked it too much, so did that mean he liked both? It was always a question in the back of his mind.

Hayden still refuses to believe that he likes men - and will swear to everything that he’s the straightest boy of all the land. He’s attending UCLA and trying to major in medical - even if his parents begged him to go into business so that they could take over the family business. But wine just wasn’t his forte, neither was selling it. Though, he’s sure with the money his parents are willing to blow on him for medical school, that he can convince them to save up for business later down the line if the medical scene doesn’t work for him.

Beckett Harrison is a twenty-seven year old firefighter who is a Lakewood Local. He is a homosexual cis male. Beckett is brave and warm-hearted but also withdrawn and reckless. 

Have you ever witnessed a building burning to the ground right in front of you? Its foundations cracking beneath the pressure before plaster and brick crumble to the floor like dust whilst scarlet flames lick at every wall. Beckett was only seven at the time, but he’ll never forget watching his childhood home collapse before his very eyes. He can remember saying to his mother, “But Billy is still inside!” and she hushed him, because it wasn’t just her son’s favourite stuffed animal that was trapped within the billowing smoke, but also his father.

Beckett was too young at the time to even remember his dad all too well (though the pain of him being gone stuck with him) but he was old enough to understand that he might not have got out had it not been for the big man in the reflective uniform that carried him through the flames and out toward his mother’s arms. He’d seen them on television all the time, but in real life they seemed so much more heroic than he could have ever imagined and from that moment onward, he knew he wanted to be a firefighter.

All his years of education, people questioned him with ‘What do you want to be when you grow up?’ and he always gave the same response. “But what about a doctor?” they’d ask, “Or a lawyer?” and it frustrated Beckett because he couldn’t understand why his choice of profession wasn’t as respected as the other kid’s answers. Then again, they never saw what he saw. But, the boy stuck to his dream and after finishing school he dedicated all his time to training and getting fit, building the physique that he knew was needed if he were to pass the fitness tests involved. Beckett spent two years undertaking paramedic training before embarking on several courses within a fire academy and eventually gaining a Bachelors degree in fire science. Holding that diploma was one of the proudest moments of his life, but nothing could beat that feeling of achievement as he wore that reflective uniform for the first time.

Now working with the LA Fire Department, Beckett hopes to be the kind of hero that he’d looked up to when he was younger. Plus, now he’d finally got the job, maybe it would lessen the guilt that he’d been carrying for all these years. See, even at eight years old, he knew he should have never played with matches.
