Artist statement* Infinity, interdependence and interaction are concepts that feature in all my work. Infinity in terms of numbers, time, space and life cycles along with the interdependence of opposites continues to confound and intrigue me. My aim is to create a unifying symbol culminating in a cube representative of all these concepts. The (interaction)3 is based on my âInteractionsâ series of paintings (Acrylic on canvas) which was displayed on the Suntec screen in Singapore, the largest HDTV screen in the world, based on the Ying and Yang, a wave form. The wave, the medium of travel for light, sound and energy is needed for all forms of interaction and communication. The interdependence of the complimentary nature of the crest and trough best signifies this relationship. The existence of the crest is dependent on the trough. The central axis expresses unity. Duality is depicted by the negative and positive spaces. Trinity is ascribed to the triangle the smallest polygon, representative of the three phases of the moon waxing, waning and full. The square represents the four directions and the circle a polygon with infinite sides represents the sun, the moon and the earth. Message: One integrated world view transcending all. To understand our surroundings and the Universe we have created numerous building blocks and methods of analysis; numbers, basic shapes such as the dot, triangle, square and circle as vehicles to explore art, science, religion and life. We have created our own symbols to represent our perceptions, thoughts and interpretations. These symbols and imagery are what I have used in my interpretation of the of interaction3 inspired by the Interpretation The orange cube represents living fire and energy signifying progress. The cube is divided by a single continuous line starting and ending at the same point representing the idea of continuing life cycles and infinity. Unity is represented by cross hairs defining the center, the point of origin and creation. Duality is represented by the square divided into two sections the positive and the negative. Trinity is depicted with arrows that are essentially triangles interconnected with channels implying direction and interaction. The square represents the four directions, the basic foundation for the cube. The circle is represented with the pattern of radiating arrows, with 12 arrows penetrating and moving inward, the self, and 12 arrows radiating outward reflecting the form of petals in a flower blossom, the creation.

One integrated world view transcending all religions, cultures and continents in the context of the world we live in today. Travel, discovery, interaction, communication and knowlege have reached new heights, in a world striving towards infinite possibilities while going through the cycles of life.
Infinity, interdependence and interaction are concepts that feature in all my work. Infinity in terms of numbers, time, space and life cycles along with the interdependence of opposites are interpreted as unifying symbols, âMandalasâ, embodying all these concepts.
The mandala as a cosmic diagram best embodies our relationship to the infinite, the world that extends both beyond and within our bodies and minds. These paintings have elements of all these ideals such as the singularity of the self, the duality of complementary sides, the trinity of creation, preservation and destruction to the plurality in our beliefs.
The wave, the medium of travel for light, sound and energy is needed for all forms of interaction and communication. The interdependence of the complimentary nature of the crest and trough best signifies this relationship. The existence of the crest is dependent on the trough.
Each painting is a square made of just two interconnected spaces, the positive crest and the negative trough, an interpretation of the complimentary interdependence of the ying and yang. The line creating this shape starting at a point and coming back to the same point depicts continuing life cycles and infinity. The arrows represent channels interconneting triangles and show direction. The arrows radiating along defined patterns depict the interaction of the inner self with that beyond the reaches of our consciousness. The central axis expresses unity. Duality is depicted by the negative and positive spaces. Trinity is ascribed to the triangle the smallest polygon. The square represents the four directions and the circle a polygon with infinite sides represents the sun, the moon and the earth.

nfinity, interdependence and interaction are concepts that feature in all my work. Infinity in terms of numbers, time, space and life cycles along with the interdependence of opposites is seen in a number of cultures and traditions which continue to confound and fascinate us.
The wave best signifies these ideas needing two opposing interdependent entities, a crest and trough . If either ceases to exist a straight line is formed which is no longer representative of a wave. The wave, the medium of travel for light, sound and energy is needed for all forms of interaction and communication. the ying yang as a wave form best depicts this concept.
The number one expresses unity with the negative and positive spaces depicting duality, the triangle describing the smallest polygon signifying the trinity, the square describing the quadrilateral the four corners of the ancient world and the circle a polygon with infinite sides represents the sun, the moon and the earth. These are symbols and images seen as mandalas across the globe.
My aim is to create a unifying symbol culminating in a cube representative of these concepts. The cube is made of just two interconnected spaces, the positive solid and the void representing the complimentary interdependence of the ying and yang. The line creating this shape starting at a point and coming back to the same depicts continuing life cycles and infinity. The arrows represent channels interconnecting triangles that show direction radiating inward and outward the interaction of the inner with that beyond the reaches of our consciousness.
