I'm not sure about forced but the problem I have is that her story arc became about a dude. The main female's story arc is about crushing on a dude. Also, that "I had no desires but now I like this boy" is highly regarded as a sexist trope in the west that makes out women are nothing until they find a man or that love can answer all your problems when it can’t (see the Disney princess reformation). There's been a lot of discussion about that trope in recent years. Though, in all honesty, I don’t think that is the main reason. I think the main reason is that most of the fandom are emotionally invested in a different ship so it hurts to have it taken by one they like less. Just as I’m sure you’d present your ideas for why mika+yuu shouldn’t work if it ever became canon over your OTP.  I know it can get annoying to hear it all the time but it won’t change the outcome so don’t let it get to you, maybe try and avoid the mika+yuu tag. Of course you’re free to give your opinion as well.

To simplify my feelings:

Shinoa is whipped. She has a hard crush on him. Probably gonna end up with him. I give my condolences for us Mikayuu shippers. Its been a good run.

Also, Yuuichirou is dumb. And oblivious. But will still fall for her. They’re basically gonna be a Guren and Mahiru thing. Except probably less toxic.

And I haven’t seen enough of Mika nor Shinya. This ain’t it, chief. Where they at??? Well, we probably won’t see much of them since Kagami is focusing on this Yuunoa/GurenMahiru parallel thing.

You know, since this is all happening, I pray to God that at least Shinya and Mika end up happy. They’re both best friends to guys that’ll probably be with these girls and no one for them. Well, let’s get real, Shinya is most likely about to die. So I guess Mika is gonna be the only one left. Poor babe.

Actually, what would be better is after this whole ordeal, Mika ventures off from everyone on his own. Then he runs into those group of kids from the gas station and becomes a guardian to the kid that had Yuuichirou’s hair.

yeah I gave up on the manga ever since seeing ch 73. I am disappointed and sad. Guess Kagami will go with the heteronormativity. I just wish he didn’t even create such a complex and deep story between mika and yuu it would have been easier to give up. Now my heart is literally breaking.

Oh my God, really? Whilst I agree people shouldnt harrass the creator but if “people want canon gay ship they should look at yoi”, Yuri on Ice is an entirely different genre with entirely different characters. My guess is most people like the ship because they like the genre and their dynamic.

Would you say to shippers of a straight pair to “go watch The Notebook”? Not to mention there’s a lot more options for them and they could likely find about 50 other Dark Fantasy genred anime with a straight pair at the click of a button whereas I’d struggle to come up with one with a gay one and even if I could, I couldn’t gurantee the same people who ship Mikayuu would even like the dynamic… so this is really punching down, not up.

What I am basically saying is stop degrading the shippers of gay ships as all starved yaoi guzzlers that would be satisfied if you shoved a BL comic in their face. A ship is a ship is a ship at the end of the day, its emotional business lol, some people just think its high time for this in the genre and will be disappointed but guys remember that it is out of our control and ship nicely. It was about how the standard for romance in movies (and anime) is a lot different for lgbtq+ characters and straight characters. The post looked something like this:

Yep, either that or a guy and girl look at each once in the street and everyone is then supposed to think they’re soulmates or w.e. It cheapens both really because; 1) It makes het pairs look shallow, forced and based solely on looks, convenience or to wrap up an ending by “giving” a MC a trophy and,  2) Despite more development, chemistry, romantic tension and characterization between two guys/girls, it will still often be thrown aside and denied existence concluding, simply based on their gender. Then hear those cries of “why can’t two guys just be friends?!”. Well, why can’t a guy and girl?? Lol, be much more refreshing, eh.

Let me show proof of them straights hypocrisy by talking about a show called Haruchika. I don’t want to talk about it too much (you can go Google it) but I must point out that the 2 main characters, a boy and girl, are shown to be in love with their male teacher. Yep, that’s right, the boy, the protagonist, is gay. Although I don’t support the main characters love for a older man, the fact that most of the viewers ships the two main characters is a big no. Not only this invalidates the male character’s sexuality, but make clear of their hypocrisy.

OK, so you want to see Mika and Yuu as bros right? Fine, what about Haruta and Chika, they are crushing on the same guy, clearly displayed their lack of interest of a romantic relationship with each other, and the author of the light novel said he does not want the main characters to be in said romantic relationship as it’ll spoil the story, surely you see them as friends right? What, you see them as going to be a thing? Wow.

Point is, if you are gonna be anti at shippers, be consistent. Don’t go hating at lgbt shippers yet give a pass on het shippers even though the ship they shipping is supposed to be platonic and nothing more. Haruchika showed us it is possible for media to depict a male and female friendship, so, keep an open mind, yeah?

I could list a billion series where a boy and a girl that are raised together all their lives and either end up together or are considered the “obvious” couple but two guys spend a chunk of their childhood captive in the same prison and they’re obvious bros and that’s that lol.
