Our next big event.
I know, I know. So many bands in the early 80s played stark, "angular," dance music. But this mysterious band takes it up a notch. The clangy, mechanic sounding guitars remind me of a more melodic night at the factory; I get that same feeling of being on a conveyor belt or a rickety roller coaster going UP (along with the attendant excitable nervousness in the stomach.) The back and forth vocals are also familiar, we've heard this style before. Someone shouts, someone shouts back, they all shout. But DAMN, they sound just a whole lot meaner and sure of themselves than anyone i've seen play lately.
Why do I like this so much??? Because I can feel the JAZZ. They took the post-punk template and made it sound like what other bends pretend to sound like. It's aggressive, it's noisy, it's wild and menacing. Oh yeah, and there's two bass players. So much rhythmic dissonance, not only are basslines fighting with each other, the guitar is fighting with itself. The only thing they seem to agree about is whatever the hell they are singing about.
this is very important

Landlines are a band. More specifically, Landlines are a band in many different towns, but we think ours is different so we're going to try it out. Call it Landlines PDX, Landlines northwest, anything you'd like. Until we get sued we will be called Landlines. Here's a short description of our music:
"Committed to the idea that the apocalypse looks like a ton of fun, Landlines are a group of songsmiths from Portland, Oregon. Like the once more typical yeoman embraced a work-system that countered capitalistic trends way back in feudal times, Landlines, in their intention of pre-cellular pre-full on atomization of Western society, have reinterpretted the basic premise of home-grown, guitar driven songcraft.
