The Indigenous Mbororo Community in Cameroon joined the global campaign for the protection of land rights during the International Earth day celebration
''Securing our land means securing our lives which implies a secure future''
Here in Karamoja Uganda, we now stand for land rights of the pastoralists community. Pastoralists are part of the world most vulnerable societies in the world, they are vulnerable through poor and restricted access to their ancestral land resources. DADO Stands for land rights now!!!!!
Il est important de reconnaitre les droits fonciers des communautés locales et autochtones en Afrique, comme un moyen de garantir les modes de vie et de subsistance des communautés, de leur donner le moyen de lutter
Here in Kenya, we continue to fight for our legal rights to have a voice in how our land is used, after we have for generations managed it sustainably ourselves. Now an oil and gas pipeline port project under construction and a proposed 1050mw coal plant are threatening our community's land, resources, and livelihoods. For the next few weeks, we are holding community forums here in Lamu, at the coast of Kenya, to share information and discuss across diverse communities on our several islands and mainland, using a video of our community members who had the opportunity to meet South Africans who have been affected by coal plants in their own communities.
In Lamu, Kenya, we are fighting to protect our community, our land, and the resources on which we depend on for our livelihoods, which have for generations been sustainably managed by our diverse communities, and now are under threat from large-scale fossil fuel extractive infrastructure projects. The proposed coal plant would be the first in East Africa, and its smokestack would be the tallest building in the entire region!
Not a criminal act!!! Let’s celebrate the earth day and reclaim our lands to save our future
Land rights now for Pastoralists, pastoralists are some of the world endangered communities of land grabs..The tenure regime in pastoral communities is now very vulnerable compared to the rest of the country..
