I'm gonna be bold and say it, I think acting like famous women have to be completely unsexual, fully covered up, innocent, and 100% perfect role models is just as bad as women being oversexualized in media. Both shrink a person to how they're viewed by others, and it creates a sense of there being two categories: virgin or whore.

Idk how to put this eloquently but Swifties are so purity culture coded. Remember when we used to freak out over Taylor mouthing the word "fuck" on the 1989 World Tour? Like Swifties were literally losing their mind "omg a 25 year old said 'fuck'!!!" There are Swifties who were absolutely scandalized when they started paying attention to the lyrics of Wildest Dreams. There are Swifties who refuse to believe the lyrics "lovin' bed" and "lead me up the staircase" are sexual in nature because "Taylor is too innocent for that". And there is an overlap of Swifties and Sabrina Carpenter fans currently freaking out over Sabrina kneeling, fully clothed, on her album cover. It's giving policing of women. It's giving immaturity.

And now Taylor is using sex to sell her new album, apparently. Despite the fact that over 5 million people liked her post about it before ever even seeing the cover. And the fact that "showing your body" is something dancers have been doing since dance was invented because THAT'S THE POINT. IT'S NOT A SEX THING.

I also want to add on that Swifties being scandalized by Taylor Swift making a dick joke as if she hasn't been doing that on MySpace since she was 16. They refuse to believe it is part of her sense of humor so much so that they attribute it to Sabrina Carpenter - another woman they have boxed in to a rigid category of "whore".

It bothers me when people try to predict the downfall of Sabrina Carpenter's career. They think she's just a flash in the pan, but they ignore the fact that she has been releasing music for almost a full decade before Nonsense broke out on TikTok. Cohesive albums or messy album?

I'm such a sucker for a cohesive album! My favorites are Reputation, 1989, and Fearless. All three have an easily identifiable lyrical theme, sound, aesthetic, and tracklist that flows well and tells a story.

rewatching the eras tour: the final show and i noticed something about all too well: during the first part of the song, the entire stadium is lit up in orange and red tones (autumn leaves), then confetti (snow) falls, the stadium lights turn white (possibly signifying winter) and even the stage goes dark after displaying a dark copper pattern for most of the song. suddenly, taylor (and the backup vocalists) is the only red thing in the entire stadium—she's the only one who remembers it all too well now
