Hi all,

today (last 2 days ago lol) concludes the end of the Lantern Rite event so there should not be more exchanging asks (you can still work on your posts).

Thank you sooo much for taking your time to participate my first event, really appreciate it! I'm slowly working on my part but school work comes first (didn't do well last term oof) and I will get back at reblogging everyone's posts.

Again, thank you! Words are not enough to express my gratitude, hopefully I can host this once more next year. If you don't know, I've made a server. It will still be up for archiving and future events. Hope to see you all again!

Alyse shuffled over to Nat, grateful that there was another human (and familiar face) in the crowd.

"It's been a long time since I've seen you in person! I saw you on TV, you guys did such a great job during those fights!" They smiled happily.

"I heard that you're going to Johto while I was over for the Magi Event, are you excited? I'm actually headed there too. Have you been there before?"

I kinda forgot a... lot of people saw those battles.

[The idea of being perceived to such a degree was still a new one-granted it was the intention of entering the tournament, but it was still something to get used to.]

[Nat's attention returns for the next question, a bit of excitement to his voice.]

I have, actually! I don't remember the trip since I was maybe a year or two old, something like that, but I did go-old enough to walk and cause trouble, eheh.

I have extended family in Johto actually, supposedly. When you grow up calling everyone a cousin-from people related to you to family friends-you don't really know where the line is drawn.

Now it's time to prepare our lanterns. We didn't have any experience with it, so, they might be a bit messy. But I hope they can fly just as good as everyone else's. Also, myanks for the snacks!

Loki@Annalisé: Hello there, my dear! Did I overhear you mention that you have a girlfriend? This seems like such a wonderful event to go with special ones; why didn't you bring her along with you?

Loki's dress is caught Annalisé off guard. As she looks into it, she excitedly smiles. This dress...is very pretty.

Suddenly, she shakes her head fast.

AH, pardon, madame! Y-your dress is fantastique, z-zat's what I can say... Anyways, you talked about Camila? Ze thing is she declined because of her weight. And I afraid everyone would eizer laugh at her and call her "fat" or look at her disgustedly. She's actually being bullied in acadzemy becausze of it, mostly by canines. But dzon't worry, Paula and some ozers are by her side. Though I don't zink everyone around zis island is gonna bully her, but still...I have concerns.

Vargas would notice the couple as they were doing whatever couples do in these types of events. "Ah, love is such a thing of beauty isn't it? I must say you two are adorable! Any advice you can give about finding love? Asking for a friend of course!"

Mya, as Pauls said, we still really don't know the definition of it. Probably we still learning about the human world.

Woof! I can agree. Maybe we have same personalities, tastes, or...we're beautiful but different. Right, Bellie?

"Choo choo, bonjour! So, zis is a Faraway Island, huh...? I read about ze Mew event before leaving Paldea... Or, I was mistaken and zat wasn't island I know...

Anyways, does zis island known for ze unusual events too?"

Behind the Lunala statue laid Vela, on a very important mission to savor some of the food the festivities had to offer. Just before they were to take their first bite, however, they saw... them.

Strangers! Unknown Pokémon! People were crowding around them, and in their panic they got up, dropping their food on the ground.

I'm s-sorry! I was - I am - j-just waiting for Ti-for a friend to arrive, so I thought hiding - I mean waiting behind the statue would be the best place for them to find me. I-I-I...!

They began taking steps backwards, but in their panic, their feet tangled with their tail, and they fell backwards.

They landed... not on the ground, but on something soft. Was that... fabric? They looked up, trying to gather their bearings. And, then...

Oh! Uhm, I do like festivals. I, uhm, just get a bit scared sometimes, when I'm not with someone I trust... and in new places... b-but this looked fun, and Tial wanted us to go. I don't know where she is, but I feel safe now!

"Oh my word ... I hope you're alright still." Vargas saw what had happened and was concerned after seeing the commotion. A faint glow would appear in the lantern he was carrying, acting as a miniature campfire to help dry out their clothes. "I hope this would help ... I unfortunately don't have a towel to provide. But I digress, any activities you were considering? Perhaps I can join in once you've dried off ... I can't decide on one myself."

Alyse stopped what they were doing to look at the lantern, admiring its glow. As they spoke to Vargas, they returned to working quickly to dry themselves using the towels on them.

There was a sense of urgency in the way their hands moved, and they repeatedly bent down and stood up in succession to find and dry the remaining damp spots as best they could.

(@asklalu) Lalu excitedly approached Annalisé with a wave, eyes twinkling at the sight of a pokemon they've never seen before—not to say of someone so well-dressed! They quickly spell out a message for them on their white board before presenting it to her with a big smile: "hi!! i'm lalu, just wanted to say you look amazing!! what brings you to the festival? come with any friends or loved ones?"

And you also look fantastique! To be honeszt, I have literally no idzea, except Paula received a letzer from ze host of ze event. You can ask zem advice or what zings to do. But I know for sure is zere'll be some sort of lantern launching at night. Tho, I've never been in such event as zis. I had a fried noodles wiz my friends. Zey came before me. I was late because I choose what's to wear. Zat was...hard to be frank...

Alyse sheepishly took the towels from Kris and Spot, though grateful for them. Before they could do anything else, they spotted a Pokemon they never thought they'd ever see in person:

Alyse dropped their towels on the ground in shock while Celeste's wind did its work. It was mind boggling to think they'd come across not one legendary, but two in a relatively short amount of time. Did it mean anything? Just how special was this place?

Before they could respond, more Pokemon approached with towels and wind:

Alyse looked around at each of them as they pitched in, with wide eyes. Their gaze lingered on the shaymin that addressed them- MORE legendaries. They had to process everything happening.

While Cherry flapped her wings, Alyse's hair fully dried and poofed up in volume.

"Oh... oh wow! Thank you for all the towels and the air... I mean the wind. Gusts?"

They bent down to pick up the towels they dropped, then gratefully added the ones from Fern and Shaythulu to their stack. Even though they were drier now, their clothes still had a sense of dampness on top of the sea salt that stuck to them. The towels would still come to use.

"I wasn't planning on taking a swim but someone fell off the dock and was having a hard time, so that's why I was drenched aha." They smiled embarrassingly. "Thank you for everything!"

Alyse turned to address Fern, though they felt a weight with so many eyes on them- especially the legends.

"You don't see a lot of pokemon that can speak a human language! I can actually understand pokespeak well enough, so whatever feels right for you will probably work with me," they said and smiled.

While the Pokémon were focused on them, Alyse took this as an opportunity to quietly admire them: Spot’s outfit and stripes, Cherry’s bat-like wings, Shaythulu’s ominousness. Fern’s shiny coat. Celeste’s heart shaped markings.

They wondered what regions everyone had come from.

"You're out late, mate.."

Chester wasn't acknowledged by Peseta as he looked at them sitting on a rock after wandering not far from where the main event area was.

"..mate..?" The Gholdengo stepped to one side of Peseta, then the other. "...you alright..?"

Peseta sighed. The sound was quiet. Chester was careful as he went to stand beside them.

Peseta managed to look up at him. Chester showed concern at the tiredness that was being shown to him.

"Mate, y' look awful..!" Chester sat beside them. "When's th' last time y' got a propah night's kip..?"

The green Gholdengo shook their head.

"To be honest.. I.. ..don't know.." They looked at their hands. "I often find myself staying up to finish writing lectures for the following day, or days, and.. ..I guess you can say that it's not good.."

"Well, yeah..!" Chester replied, one eyebrow raised. "Surely there's more guys that write lessons in there that can take ovah when y' need some shut-eye.. ..right..?"

Peseta slowly looked around at him.

"There is, but.. ..they aren't that impressed that one of their colleagues is a Pokemon.. If they get extra things that they can't finish before the day is out, they.. ..gather all of what they have together, and.. ..give it to me.."

They looked back down at their hands.

"..and it makes me stay awake until I can see the sunrise as I complete what they couldn't.."

"You need a break, mate! Like, a loooong break, away from all that formal stuff!" Chester's quick response and enthusiasm made Peseta look up at him again.

"I fink I 'ave what y' need too!" He pointed at Peseta, making the shiny Gholdengo look at his finger, then back up.

"When we get back 'ome, the first fing yer gonna do is let me 'ave a chin-wag wiv the Directah! Then yer gonna see what I 'ave! 's gonna be good for ya too, an' y' can trust me on this one, mate!"

Peseta looked unsure.

"...are you sure..? You haven't spoke with Director Clavell that much before, aside from when you deliver his mail.. I'm not sure if he even likes you.."

"Pffft!" Chester leaned back a little, supoorting himself with one arm. "Even if 'e doesn't like me, 'e's not the one I'm doin' this for! Th' academy's big boss man can shout at me 'til 'is face goes red, but, at th' end of the day, I'm still doin' it for the wellbein' of someone 'oo needs a well-deserved long lie-in!"

Peseta's cheeks went pink and a smile slowly went onto their face.

"I'll be looking forward to what you have planned, Chester..~"

Chester stood up and playfully winked at them before holding out a hand. Peseta stood up and put theirs into his.

"Let's go back t' the party! Maybe we can make a lantern or two before we find where to lay our 'eads?"

Peseta nodded, before they ran back to the main event area hand in hand.

(@ask-pokecats) Paula approaches the duo. She wagging her tail and waves with excitement.

"Woof woof! Hi! I hope y'all have fun there!

There's endless possibilities await you there before the night of the rite, woof! Which one of the things you'll try first? Food? Games? Or just talk to the folks, I honestly don't mind, haha!"

The emote is offering their counterpart a dumpling, which he is clearly less than thrilled about. But he takes it anyway.

“Obviously Doubt is here to scope out what’s going on. Even if he frames it as keeping an eye out for me!”

“Hope. You can’t give out all our secrets.”

“I’m not! I just know you. Beside the food, I think it’ll be nice to see new faces.”
