Rules:

1) Please be nice. This event is meant to be fun! You don't have to be painting at the level of the Mona Lisa nor in the Pokemon blog community to join. If you have Pokemon OCs and you want to draw fun art as a gift for someone, join!

Added note: your art piece does NOT have to be digital art! It can be traditional! As long as it's something that can visually be observed it's acceptable! This includes: self-made plushies, clay sculpts, colored pencil drawings, acrylic paintings, etc.

** This much should be obvious (and it hasn't been an issue so far but I feel still should be stated to be safe) AI IS NOT ACCEPTED. Generative AI for references, gifted artwork, etc is NOT ALLOWED and will result in an immediate and PERMANENT ban from this event.

2) Please do not join if you don't feel you can complete your gift art in the allotted time.

3) Those who are bigoted, racist, LGBTQ+ phobic or similar are NOT welcome. This blog is one about love. We DO NOT welcome those who are hateful.

4) If something comes up and you need to drop out, that's ok! But please let us know with plenty of time (at LEAST 48 hours) so we can message a pinch hitter to help out!

5) Please don't submit nsfw art for art references or for your finished art piece. (Nude references are fine as long as they are not explicit.) This is a family friendly event. You will be blacklisted from participating again should you violate this rule in any way.

***When submitting reference links, if the images are a Google drive link PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make sure the link is accessible to anyone who has it! We've had multiple issues in the past where artists were not able to access references which led to delays. MAKE SURE YOUR REFERENCES ARE FULLY ACCESSIBLE!!!***

Reminder: You do not have to be part of the Pokeask Community! As long as you have a Pokémon OC of some sort, you are welcome to join!

They were probably the last to make their lanterns, but that’s fine. They work in peaceful quiet, and soon the two have lanterns of their own to send off.

“What did you wish for, Doubt?” “That your wish comes true.” Hope can see the large amount of scribbled writing on his lantern and knows Doubt is lying for them. But Hope doesn’t call him out on it, he was participating, even if he’d only come for their sake. “I wished for peace for the gathered creatures. And that maybe, somehow, their wishes come true.” “How soft of you, Hope.”

HOPE is happily testing the dumplings one vendor has offered, having a great enjoyment of the act of eating. They seem impressed with the little food item, having given one to DOUBT to try despite his own disinterest in eating. But he suffers through the act for their sake, lest the other emote offer him more food later. DOUBT knows HOPE will, though. It's just how they are. @lanternritefestival

The pair of eeveelutions planned to stay by each other’s side for the event. Both for safety and the fact that one didn’t like to be too far from the other. It was mainly Blossom running around excitedly while Fern followed.

The Leafeon wound up bumping into someone due to her excitement. She quickly gave a bow and looked up to the person she bumped into, Hope.

Blossom: oh, I’m so sorry! Please forgive me. I let my excitement get the best of me!

“Both of you look wonderful, by the way. I hadn’t known we could dress for this…”

While HOPE seems a bit sad at the lack of knowledge, DOUBT doesn’t seem to mind.

"Excuse me, Annalise? I'm rather fond of stars, and I was just wondering if yours mean anything?" Hope cocks their head as they swoop around the meowstic, examining the uniform.

First, my outfit? Oui, it was inspired by ze stars from Pokié: Kingdom. Especzially ze Alcremie Way. Second, I love stars. To be frank, I've never saw SO MANY stars in ze sky becausze of ze street lights. But Glaseado Mountzain would be a perfect spot to see zem. Oh, maybe aftzer zis I'll invite Calem and my ozer friends to see zis. Or...I hope zere'll be A TON stars here tzoo at night... Because we'll release ze flying lanterns at zis time. No street lights here so it should be good to stargaze a little before departzure.

(@ask-pokecats) Paula approaches the duo. She wagging her tail and waves with excitement.

"Woof woof! Hi! I hope y'all have fun there!

There's endless possibilities await you there before the night of the rite, woof! Which one of the things you'll try first? Food? Games? Or just talk to the folks, I honestly don't mind, haha!"

The emote is offering their counterpart a dumpling, which he is clearly less than thrilled about. But he takes it anyway.

“Obviously Doubt is here to scope out what’s going on. Even if he frames it as keeping an eye out for me!”

“Hope. You can’t give out all our secrets.”

“I’m not! I just know you. Beside the food, I think it’ll be nice to see new faces.”

Ogerpon runs up to Hope. As she talks, she tilts her head a little out of curiosity.

Ogerpon: "Hiya! You're cool lookin'! I'm Ogerpon! What are you?"

Most of them represented emotions. Obviously, a few outliers existed. The emote doesn’t seem to mind Doubt adding to their explanation, more than used to it.

Doubt examines the slime entity. "Now, what exactly are you?" Hope is quick to move in too! "How'd you get here? I saw you come from the water?"

Lalu's eyes flit between the two floating figures in surprise, which quickly shifts to a look of awe. It hasn't been more than a few minutes on this island and all they've seen are completely unfamiliar pokemon! They give the two a soft smile and a wave before resting their gaze on Doubt, answering their questions one at a time.

"hi!! im lalu, a reuniclus! i morphed my gelatin into this shape to fit in with all the humans, but from here it looks like there's more pokemon(?) than anything! if it isn't rude to ask, what are you? i've never seen anyone like you two before!"

Turning towards Hope, a somewhat inscrutable expression crosses their features as they try to formulate an answer. They seem almost embarrassed while starting to write the new message.

"well, my home and business (it's a nap cafe!! ❤︎) can travel between worlds! usually randomly. the door opens to new places all the time! occasionally i can perform a ritual to try and get to a specific place, but it's up to the whims of the gods where the cafe ends up. like at the bottom of the sea."

Through a temporary rift two emotes arrive to the festival. While both are rather rare comers, at least those old enough in the community would recognize both.

HOPE seems delighted by all the sights and sounds, swishing their head around and appraising all the entities in the vicinity.

On the other hand...

DOUBT does not seem particularly enthralled. That's fine, it's always been his nature to be not pleasant. But he is behaving for Hope's sake, it appears.
