“But the fact that it’s somewhere on that scale is enough for me to mark it as a flaw. I’m glad you don’t see it as anything as bad.”
The awkward silence killed Jasper after she said ‘good one.’ So it was a joke that he was asking her out and that it was a joke that she’d be interested in him, in his mind. “You know, you’re driving me completely crazy Lara. It’s not a joke, I’m being serious, I’d love to take you out on a date,” he clarified, trying to appear as serious ( but the opposite of intimidating ) as he could be. “
“I don’t think of it as a flaw. It’s part of who you are.” Lara insisted with a warm smile. She had never looked too closely at the scar, nor did she ask how he had gotten it. It felt like it was none of her business, not sure if he even felt like sharing the story. Either way, as she had already said … it was a part of him and that was that. She didn’t read much more into it. What she couldn’t wrap her mind around though was the fact that h had just asked her out. She was still waiting for him to break character, to start laughing and nudging her playfully and making fun of her for actually thinking he was being serious. But with his words he only achieved to proof the opposite. A date? Lara couldn’t even remember the last time she had been on one of those. “I do?” she asked completely dumbfounded, not quite sure what else to say. “I mean, I’d like to go out with you. But your poor life choices make me question your sanity a little. And by poor life choice I mean asking me out on a date? Chances are I will embarrass you at least twenty times in one night.”
